Never really thought about it before.
Always cracks me up though when a customer will call and say, "I need to get my Datsun groomed." Like the car. I'm always tempted to ask if they want an oil change, too. ;)

I mix the two. I pronounce it Dox-hound or Dox-hund.
It's a German breed and this is the correct way. Americans tend to pronounce it Dash Hound. I guess it all depends on where one is from and what kind of accent one has. :DQuote:

Yeah beacuse there is another breed called a dashhound though I think it is a second name. One that isn't fromaly recognised yet stilll used to refer to the breed. 'Dok-hund' is how I pronounce Dachsund, though I'm a little favorable to a little k sound when I say things "Dox-hund" is what I believe it is supose to be pronounced.Quote:
