How to Get MapQuest Directions TO the Findlay Bark Park

Some "revisions" to the MapQuest Directions & Routings
http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/confused.gif Why, WHY, WHY can't MapQuest just leave things alone? http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/mad.gif
Every year they like to "adjust" things ... shift the number ranges on a street ...
change a routing ... or just change stuff for the heck of it! Grrrrr!
I'll reprint the previous How To - and change a few things to try to catch up
with MapQuest's 2009 changes. Believe it or not, the Dog Park hasn't moved -
but MapQuest would certainly make you think it moved!

Now for the Bad News - the DETOUR
NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSURES
Detours to Riverbend / Brugeman Lodge
Marion Township – Hancock County , Ohio
Road construction projects this fall east of Findlay in Marion Township
requires a detour that Riverbend Park visitors should plan ahead of time.
- Bridge closing on Marion Twp. Rd. 241 leading into Riverbend Park –
- Starting August 17, 2009 and extending through December 2009, Marion Township Road 241 will be closed from SR 568 to TR 208 for the new wooden covered bridge project at the Blanchard River . TR 241 is the main park entrance into Riverbend Recreation Area.
From the West: (You'd be driving east on SR 568 out of Findlay) - The designated detour route is available via TR 234 just west of the SR 568 bridge (3-mile bridge) Detour signs are posted. Turn south (RIGHT) on TR 234 to TR 207, then turn east (left) on TR 207 around the Findlay Reservoirs to TR 208. Turn north (left) on TR 208 in to Riverbend Park and the Brugeman Lodge & DOG PARK will be on the west (left) side of TR 208.
From the East: Follow SR 568 driving westbound. - Detour signs are posted at the SR 568 bridge (3-mile bridge). Turn south (LEFT) on TR 234 south to TR 207, then turn east (left) on TR 207 around the Findlay Reservoirs to TR 208. Turn north (left) on TR 208 into Riverbend Park and the Brugeman Lodge & DOG PARK will be on the west (left) side of TR 208.
An alternate detour route: Follow Detour signs on SR 568 East past TR 241 to TR 245, turn south (right) to TR 207, then west (right) on TR 207 to Riverbend Park.
PLEASE NOTE: TR 208 (“River Road”) that runs along the Blanchard River will be closed effective 8-25-09 at TR 234 and TR 241 per the Hancock County Engineer's Office.
Note: The rebuilding of the SR 568 and County Road 236 intersection
will NOT be started before Labor Day weekend according to the ODOT project engineer I spoke with. Both of these roads and the intersection will be open to traffic.
ONLY the Township Road 241 bridge closure will effect Dog Park traffic.

IF you want to use a GPS or another Mapping Service - here's the Dog Park Address:
16500 Township Road 208
-OR-
Township Road 207 AND Township Road 208
Findlay, OH 45840
GPS Coordinates: (WGS 84)
N. 41* 01.941'
W 083* 33.691'
The Dog Park is INside the Hancock Park District's "Riverbend Recreation Area";
about a half mile south of Ohio Route 568;
and just north of the North-East Corner of the big Findlay Reservoir.
The Reservoir is on most maps - and stands out because it is drawn as a
Big SQUARE Blue Lake; south-east of downtown Findlay.
If ANYONE has trouble with the Route to the Dog Park - PM "Cinder & Smoke"
with your E-mail and Home/Starting Address.
-------------------------------------------------------
OK - so what changed?
The DETOUR caused by the reconstruction of the "old, rickity 241 Bridge"
probably won't be shown on ANY mapping program or in-car GPS.
* BE PREPARED: No matter where you're coming from, Map Quest will probably
show a different route for the last 10 - 15 miles - different from last year's route.
NO route is really much better than another --- miles are about the same
and drive time isn't drastically altered.
If you think your mapping program or GPS is really sending you around Robinhood's Barn -
send me a copy of the route and I'll look it over.
As always, the PT Travel Bureau will be open all day on Sunday -
Just a cell phone away! We WILL get you to the Park! http://petoftheday.com/i/our_smilies/wink.gif
Call Phred's Home or Cell Numbers - whichever you know - they both *ring* the Cell Phone.
