Good thoughts and prayers that all goes well tomorrow.
I wondered when the surgery was going to be. I hope all goes well. Please let us know as soon as you can.
HUGS! and prayers.
I hope you soon will be good as new...and hey, it may NOT get worse over the years; for sure, there will be research and new treatments coming out in the future too!
Keep the faith, sweetie! :)
I hope everything goes well, and that you are up and about fairly soon. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as well.
Many prayers coming your way! I know you're nervous, but I just KNOW that everything will turn out OK.
This must be Break Your Foot year. I broke mine 2 weeks after one of my best friends! She had hers pinned, and although my break was a bit more serious, I didn't, but recovered nicely. I know you will too! It'll take a while. I KNOW we take out feet for granted, Never again for me! Just concentrate on NOT wanting to walk on it. It's certainly something that's automatic.
I tried that Roll-about but had a hard time steering it. It kept wanting to head to the left. I just used crutches, despite a body full of bruises and *broken* armpits!
Whatever painkiller you use, remember to EAT. Please take it easy. And, please ask for help despite your independence. It was difficult for me but, I also, recovered faster once I decided I deserved to be treated like a queen!
Lots of hugs! How lucky you have such a nice boss!:love::love:
The surgery went well tuesday. I haven't bathed since Monday and I pulled a muscle in my back yesterday getting my clothes on over the huge cast. I am dirty, groucy and bored:mad:
The drugs in recovery were pretty good. Whatever they gave me numbed my foot pretty good for a few days. I was under general anasthesia so it was over and done before I knew it.
Just one word of wisdom for everyone...watch where you step!
"Dirty, grouchy and bored", all totally understandable. Just take it easy, take your meds and heal, my friend.
Glad the surgery went well! Hope your recovery is swift. :)
Good to hear the surgery went well. I'm sorry you're so miserable. I hope it heals quickly. Be careful!
Can I throw a little pity party? With life threatening illness I feel kind of selfish but I had a mental breakdown today and its been a lousy day.
I am so bored and tired of being an invalid and I am still waiting for my knee walker to arrive, I hope that gives me some mobility and gets me out of this dang funk:(
I don't even want to say how long its been since I have had a real bath.
I had my husband buy a plastic lawn chair for the shower but I haven't attempted it yet. My biggest fear is getting hurt further. If anyone stops by to see my I go spray on more cologne and tell them to stand back:D
We got our new refrigerator delivered Friday and I can't even play with out or organize it or anything. Hubby has been doing very well but you know a man's idea of housecleaning just isn't the same.
I don't know how high your cast is...but when I was a kid, I broke my leg and had a cast from toes to just below my knee.
When I had a bath, I would just hang the one leg outside the tub.
For a shower - how about heavy plastic and duct tape to cover the cast?
I remember my surgery two years ago...I went in hosp Monday and showered Thursday morning...and it felt GREAT! So I understand how you are feeling in the clean dept!
I hope you find a way to freshen up soon, for your own sake. :)
How about getting a little risque' and asking hubby to shower w/you. That way he can reach places that you may not be able to and he'll be there to see to it that you won't fall. As for house cleaning, it's only dirt, which all of us will be buried in one day, so don't even worry about it.
When I broke my wrist and was in a cast, I found that plastic bags taped over it so I could shower were such a pain and a hassle, that I went to a medical supply store to see what they had that could make my life easier.
I got a water tight sleeve that just slipped on and off, and it was a godsend. Just Google Seal-Tight Cast Protector and you'll find lots of places where you can purchase them. They have them for arms and legs, and in different lengths.
