I like those ideas, Aly.. I'll see what everyone else thinks.
We don't have to have "Games" but I thought it may be fun. I know it'll be fun anyways to just sit around the pool and chat.
Is anyone planning on swimming? :p

Oh no, please don't say I look like a Boxer. LOLQuote:

Sounds like there might be some games out there that my ding bat can do. ;) As long as the size of the wagging tail doesn't count. LOLQuote:

I don't even know if I have bathsuit that will fit me any more, sense the weight gain or if I even want to see what I look like in a suit. But if I can swim in shorts I might just get in. Now if I drop 40/50 lb's in time, then looks out pool!!! :DQuote:

Libby, shorts and a shirt are fine. That's what I do. :)
I don't do cold water! ;) But, I'll bring my swim suit just in case. I really hope I can make it, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. Finn acts like a nut with other dogs around, but, we'll play whatever games we can. Can't guarantee that he'll even sit on command if his other choice is to play with a dog. But, it'll still be fun! :)
I don't have big lips and ears, but if you want to think I look like Skye, then thats a compliment! ;)
As far as swimming, I don't even swim in my own pool, but if the weather is hot enough, I'm sure I'll be looking to cool down. Skye on the other hand will stay as far away from the water as possible! lol
Now...if Skye needs to do something other than sit and down to play a game, I'm in BIG trouble! lol She sure isn't the greatest when it comes to tricks! hehehe
Libby, I don't have a problem with you bringing Tuffy. I love boxers and can't wait to meet him. I don't think Nova has ever been around an unaltered male, but she'll be fine.
Nova won't be too good at games, though we'd love to play anyway, or at least watch the others.
A mini gift swap would be fun. Whatever everyone wants to do is fine with me.
I honestly doubt I'll swim, but I may bring a suit incase. (I usually swim in a suit and shorts ;)). Nova has never been swiming in a pool. She wasn't too fond of the Ocean though.
Duke's new medication is already showing improvements and it's just been a little over a week. We socialized Kay's dogs with him tonight and he only growled once and no snarls or evil eyes. And, he was tired, too. We kept Duke and Nala on leashes. I had Duke laying down on his side and he seemed quite a bit more relaxed. So, I'm looking forward to the party a little bit more. I'm sure he'll need a break from all the action, though, as he is 12 and tires easily. But, I'm hoping for a great group shot of all the dogs. That is, if we can keep them all still long enough :p
Keep Skye still?!?!?! haha! Thats a joke! :p
Thats great to hear that Duke is doing so well on his new medicine! I'm sure he'll have a great time at the party - and we'll make sure to give him a break sometimes! Heck, I'm sure we'll all need one! hehe
A group shot would be awesome! Maybe we can just have all the people and dogs in the photo, so, that way it might be easier to keep them still. :) I have no idea if Finn would keep still with all those dogs around. His neuter appointment isn't until after the party, though, on the 28th. I hope he does all right. I have never had a problem with him, except for a little humping every now and then. But, you never know. He's never been in such a small space with a group of dogs before. But, he has been around sixty or seventy dogs before, just in a big area. We can always take him out of the fun if he gets funky. I hope not, though!
To be honest, I am a bit worried about unaltered dogs being here.
Please everyone keep a GOOD eye on your dogs. A VERY good eye. For the day, no jumping on the furniture.. for the safety of it. Make sure they're behaving. I don't tolerate dogs jumping. Nala is still working on this, as she gets very excited when she sees new people. Also, if your dogs aren't aware of screened in areas please make sure they become accustomed to it. We have a screened in pool.
Please make sure your dogs are DRY when they come inside. I thinking maybe we should just leash them when they come inside so they don't get too rowdy.
We've never had this many dogs here so i'm scared for the safety of our home. :o
Sorry if this comes off as rude.. i'm just very nervous, and don't want my parents getting upset about rowdy dogs. I'm going to put together our wire crate just incase we need to use it while we're eating or something.
Thats all you had to say...Tuffy wont be coming then.Quote:

You're not sounding rude at all, Kay. It's your home! But, I'm thinking I am not going to bring Finn. I had doubts about him not being neutered, even though he's never had problems before. But, especially now since you said that, I'm thinking my gut instincts are right. That stinks that his surgery date is just a few days after the meeting! But, I'm sure I'll get to meet all of you soon enough! And, again, I don't think your post was rude at all. You're just looking at for your home.
Skye, being only 4 months old, has not been spayed yet. We're not doing this until the end of July/beginning of August. Just want to see if she fits in this category, or are we referring to males only?
2 unfixed males, 1 unfixed female. It just seems a bit touchy to me. I don't know. I've never been around many unaltered animals. If everyone can make sure their dogs are going to be kept under control at all times, then there shouldn't be a problem. And I want to be able to meet the dogs and all but I don't want anything bad happened. I didn't say NOT to bring them, i'm just worried and have been in too many situations where people DON'T watch their animals.
I'm just very nervous and scared for the safety of our home, and I don't want anything coming back to me if something happens (one of the dogs get hurt or something)
I'm just very paranoid.. nervous.. scared.. I don't want anything happening to one of our babies or my house.
If everyone promiissesss to keep GOOD eye on your dogs, there shouldn't be a problem. Like I said, i've just run into too many situations where people don't watch their animals.
Except Tuffy and Finn won't be there. Unless there are two other males you're talking about?Quote:

:( No one said you can't bring them.
I know, don't feel bad. Like I said, I was just worried about it a little to begin with, and, then after you voiced your concerns, it sealed the decision for me. It's really not a big deal. I mean, it sucks, yeah, but, nothing to fret over. ;)Quote:

Why not bring him? Please do. Do you even know if you're coming for sure?
I just want everyone to promise to keep a good eye on their dogs. I really don't want something happen then it being turned to be my fault. If everyone keeps control over their dogs, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
I was as sure as I could be that I was coming. I don't feel comfortable with it now. Like I said, I was nervous to begin with, because of the number of dogs in such a small area. And, again, hearing your concerns, just makes me feel like I should wait til he's neutered and a little older before taking him into a situation like that. A dog park, no problem. There's at least enough room where the dogs don't have to be near others that they might not like, and, there's room to let loose and run. I was worried about finances and such, anyway, so, it's best that I just wait until the next one. It sucks, but, I'm a big girl, I can handle not getting to do everything I want. ;)Quote:

I shouldn't have said anything at all. I knew something like this was going to happen. :(
-sigh- Me and my stupid worrying about everything.
You were right to voice your concerns. You are the host and it's your home. It's not stupid to worry about the safety of you and your family and pets and all of your friends and their dogs. It's called being a nice person.Quote:

Kay don't feel bad, you where just being honest about your feelings, never feel bad about that.
I said from the beginning that if anyone had worries, let me know and you did. Not a thing wrong with that, I wanted to know and you let me know, as you should. Don't feel bad about it, it's your home and you have every right to worry. Maybe some other time you can meet Tuffy and fell him out in a better environment.Quote:
if that worries anyone here? Just let me know before the date as thats going to be a big factor on Tuffy and I coming.
Could you guys maybe meet at a park or something? Or possibly have the dogs run around and play at a dog park first so they wouldn't be wanting to play in the house?
Just a suggestion...wish I could come, it sounds like fun. :)
Wow! I jump in the hot tub and miss a lot! lol I'm sorry if I came off wrong - I just wanted to make sure that Skye was safe to come. I totally understand where you are coming from Kay! There is no reason to be mad that you spoke your opinion on this. It sucks about Finn and Kari - but if she said she was a little unsure to begin with, then maybe it is best. I sure am going to miss my riding buddy(s) though! I know there will be a ton more meetings - so no worries! We'll both be back down I'm sure!
I'm going to be there Saturday morning-ish....so maybe we can get together on Saturday and let the kids meet ahead of time. :D I can help with anything at your house too, if you need any.
Again, don't feel bad Kay!! You said what was on your heart - good for you! We'll have a blast and miss our fur-skin friends that couldn't make it. But there will DEFINITELY be a next time :D
So I guess this is pretty much final?

Libby, are you going to bring someone else instead of Tuffy? Odie maybe?
Count me and my brother in :D Along with Skye!
Wish you could come, Kari - but definitely next time :D
I just Pm-ed Kay and told her, now I'll tell the rest of you.
I won't be coming after all. :( Our friend came over today, to tell us they moved up their wedding date to. SUNDAY 26th, of all days!!!!!!!!!!!!
He's leaving his one job, so they thought they get married early, this way they can take their honeymoon and come back, start his new job. Instead of starting a job and then, taking time off.
Believe me, I'd much rather be sitting by a pool, then getting all dressed up and spend my Sunday, inside a reception hall.
I hope everyone has a great time and hopefully I'll get another chance to get together with everyone.
Take lots of pic, so I can see what I missed.
oh my gosh, that sucks! :( kay, i'm sorry so much is falling through. :( i'm still trying to see if there's any way to get finn into the humane society sooner (like if someone doesn't show up for their appointment or something), because i'd still like to come. i'm so sad, now, though, that you aren't going to be able to go, Libby. :(Quote:

Thanks, I'm sad about it too. I hate letting Kay down, she plans so hard for these things, but this is one of those weddings I can't miss, it wouldn't be right, he's been in my life sense he was a small boy, almost family. I feel like @$% for backing out.Quote:

It'd be nice if you could make it, that way one of us showed up. Isn't Finn still young enough where he's not effected yet, by his male-ness? Where being unaltered isn't a problem yet? If Finn is still at that age where it hasn't come into play yet, there should be no problem with him, at all. And with Tuffy not there, there is no other full unaltered male to compete with. Maybe I'm wrong about how young Finn is though, I have a hard time keeping up with things, sometimes. It could just be wishfully thinking, sense I want Kay to have the PT meet she hoped for. The more the merrier, idea.
Please don't feel bad at all for me, Libby.
Maybe it was meant to be this way? My parents were a bit hesitant with so many dogs here, so maybe it's better that we have less dogs for a starter, and then we can see about having a larger crowd.
It's too bad you can't come though. There'll always be other times. :)

Well, he's actually just hitting the age where he's not ok with other unaltered males. He was fine when we left Dallas back in April, and, just within the last couple of months, he's turned into a hater. ;) We saw it first hand at the dog park in Myrtle Beach. But, he's fine with all other dogs, at least that's what it seemed like at the dog park. It was only unaltered males he had any issues with. He was great with the three Pet Talk dogs. He's almost 18 months, now, so, I guess that's about right. But, I think it would be best to just wait until next time, he's so energetic! With no other unaltered males, I'm sure he'd be great. But, like Kay said, maybe it's meant to be this way, just as a starter. I'm glad you're going to be able to make it to his wedding, though, you'll have to tell us all how it went! :)Quote:

I'm sorry that I won't get too meet either of you. I was looking forward to watching Finn swim in the pool with Kiara. That is a lot of dogs for one small area though.
Yeah, it really is. One day, we'll have to get together where there's a park and water, like the park in Myrtle Beach. Or just all plan to go hang out on a beach somewhere (either close to us here in South Carolina or down there in Florida by Kay). I was really looking forward to meeting all of you as well. Soon, though!Quote:

And, Joey's cool! :D Hey, well, I know in my last message on here, I was still thinking of trying to come. Trying to think of a way to get Finn into the Humane Society for his surgery before his appointment date, but, the more I thought about it, the less that seems like an option. Just because he has to not have food and water the night before, and, all that. :( And, my parents aren't going to be here that weekend, so, I couldn't just come up there by myself, which was an option. But, I get the feeling that Finn will be more missed than me. Ha ha. But, I know you all are going to have so much fun! I can't wait to see pictures!Quote:

Aw man, Jaime.. I totally skipped over the number on the month and just saw "24-28" and thought you were going to be here for the meeting. When it comes closer to time, we'll have to plan something. :)
