Nope sorry guys. I'm SO disappointed. There are no flights that will work with my schedule. :( I even got permission from my boss to leave at 3, but the only flights available are either early Friday morning or very late Friday night. :( :( :(

Hey don't give up yet I'm looking.......needs to be non-stop after 3 pm friday, right? Probably more like 4-5 since you have to have time to get there early...Does the Sunday time matter?

Yeah, unfortunately it's Easter. I need to be back before noonish. :(

The only flights I can find into Dayton arrive after midnight. Everything else is earlier in the day. That flight leaves here at 8:57.

Sigh. :( I'm almost in tears. I was SO excited to come.

Kay, that one's so far away that I wouldn't get into Piqua until VERY late, and I probably coudn't afford the cab fare. :(

I found a flight on AA that gets in at 12:05 am. I'm a scardy cat, but I guess I could think about taking a cab to the Piqua LaQuinta. I'm just such a chicken. I'm always afraid I'll end up getting kidnapped and killed. *paranoid*

We could come get you. It's only about 1h 33mins from Piqua... Not far at all. My dad and I drove from our hotel in Cinci to Anna's when we decided our hotel was crap and to stay at Anna's instead.

Okay, I have a flight on hold and I'm getting ready to pay for it! I'm even going to have a short layover in St Louis (I'm getting adventurous, lol). I depart DFW @ 1 pm (hopefully my boss won't freak out when I tell her!) and will arrive in Dayton at 5:30. I don't want anyone driving an hour and a half to pick me up! :o Kay, you're so sweet to offer, but I can't ask your Dad to drive that far and back to get me. I'll just get some pepper spray and take a cab to the LaQuinta in Piqua. I'm nearly 40 years old after all. But - I'll still take a lift to the park! :)

I'll leave a 10:30 the next morning which will put me back in Dallas at 12:17. :D

I'll need to get a cell phone number or Anna's phone number so I can call ya'll when I get there, and maybe we can go eat or something, unless y'all already have something planned.

Off to book my room! :D :D :D

I can't tell you all how excited I am. My boss and co workers can't belive I'm flying to Ohio to have a cookout with "strangers". :rolleyes: I kept trying to tell them y'all are my family that I just haven't met face to face yet.

And I want to warn the warm weather ones to MAKE sure you bring warm clothes!!!!!!! Right now we have about 3 inches of snow and its supposed to snow most of the next week. It's OHIO and it's MARCH = UNPREDICTABLE weather!!! :eek:

Me too! :D

Now, this "shelter" that's been reserved, how much shelter is it going to give us? Is it like a lodge, or just a covered patio type thing? :confused:

Looks like I'll be coming in at 4:25 instead of 5:30 so that's GOOD. :D

Covered patio type thing. :D Just a slab of concrete with picnic tables, 2 walls and a roof. :D One of the walls has a sliding barn like door.

It's closed on two sides to block the "prevailing winds";
open on the other two sides;
very solid roof;
seats 50-60 at picnic tables.
Has lights and electrical outlets;
but NO furnace or heat! :p

There are two grills for cooking right in front of the shelter. Out-house style bathrooms just a short walk away. Pop machines & phone over by the ranger house, and a paved trail that goes thru the park, too. Last week two people came past the dogpark leading llamas:eek: with paks and two dogs! We see horseback riders too.
It would almost be better if it does stay frozen, but when it thaws, there is a lot of mud inside the entrance. It's not too bad once you get past the time-out cage into the field, but I strongly suggest wearing old clothes & boots - and bring a couple old towels for those muddy paws before you load 'em up!

Just a small reminder to everyone -- Kiara is generally VERY scared of new people. She's never acted aggressive towards anyone or anything, but she does bark A LOT at new people and new things. We're working with her, and she did fine last time, so hopefully she will this time as well!

Nebo is a chicken with people as well...he's usually afraid of strangers though sometimes he's fine offleash like in a dog park. He will take treat bribes too. ;) He is especially afraid of men for no particular reason. So just don't feel bad if Nebo won't come to you...it's just Nebo, he's a snob. And if you try to hug him or something and he growls, don't worry about that either...that's just Nebo... :rolleyes: He is an affectionate dog but it's all on his own terms lol.

This is the first time most of you will meet Sherman. Please keep in mind he has juvenile cataracts and can't see anything in front of his face, so he will duck and back off if you reach overhand towards him. If you hold your hand low, palm up, he will approach you. He also growls at other dogs alot if they are near his head - he's not aggressive, just hates having anyone in his face. (he is also easily bribed with treats).

I'm really excited! I can't believe so many people are coming from so far away!!!

Everyone except Micki has met my crew plenty of times...so a warning to Micki...Sadie is a HUGE lover!! She will sneak up and kiss you. But not just kiss...bathe!!! She is not shy or timid or afraid of anything!! Beware, the tongue :p

Ohhh and I just wanted to make sure you all know this before hand if you didn't know it before.
Bon is not neutured yet and unless he becomes agressive won't be till around 2.
I think everyone else's is spayed or neutured but if not make sure you let me know and I will keep a very close eye on him.

Hey I've seen all the snow I need for one year living here in Utah. ;) But I don't mind if their is snow. I hope that it is not snow-ing at the time and it's not all melted and muddy...but if there is snow on the ground that's fine with me.
