Light my fire Slick! I have some good, dry apple wood out back...mmmm makes the room smell soooo good. Takes the chill out of the air and warms the cockles of my heart to hear the crackling of the wood  don't even go there Slick Give Lynn a HUGE group hug from us Karen!
I'll tell Lynne everyone was asking for her if she doesn't drop in today. :D
Hey there's a shrimp swimming in my drink! What's that doing there?
I actually found a link devoted to Grits!!!! :)
What are grits?
I liked my grits cooked a LONG time and slowly. When I eat them, I put butter in them, and love those scrambled eggs on the side. Sausage is good too! :) I also learned a little secret from my mom...a pinch of baking soda in the early stages of the cooking give them a little boost. You just have to be careful not to put too much. When I was a kid, we loved to have grits when we were at the beach because the water was different there and they were just better. With all the water purification systems in place now, beach water is the same as ours now, so the baking soda sort of helps out instead. :)
Oh, and Laurie, a shrimp on the glass sounds wonderful! I am not a fan of lime in the Bloody Mary. I much prefer a stalk of celery, but I think the shrimp would be great!!!! :)
Good morning everyone! I've been outside dragging huge tree limbs to the front to add to our brush pile. It's now taller than I am. Don't know when they're going to pick it up. I've always liked this saying for waking up: Wakey wakey, eggs and bakey(bacon) I'm getting hungry! I was eating breakfast at Shoney's one time and this woman didn't know what grits were. I couldn't believe it.
Thanks for the grits link. There are even grits recipes for the barbecue there, not just breakfast recipes!
Just saw John Fogerty last weekend. He still sounds the same!Quote:

Hand how about just a toasted bagel for me please. And a BIG glass of OJ. I am under the weather today - not sure if it is just those darn allergies, but OJ sure sounds good to me!
Logan, the pinch of baking soda in the grits was my gramma's "secret" as well! Wait until you taste Logan's grits Val! And I happen to be partial to thick sliced "Bakey" if it's well done ;) Would you do me a favor and kiss Duke on the nose from me? RIGHT NOW :D
Ok. Will do. He's just come in from his morning constitutional and is all frisky now. He always runs around like crazy after that. Wish it had that affect on me. I love bacon, too. Can't stand it when it's too thin. Got to go search for some coffee. Haven't even had that yet.
Don't mean to put a damper on things but can we all just take a minute and say a prayer for Toby on the dog side. Seems he has to have sir jury again and ComedyDevil can use all the support we can muster up right now.
I'm off to feed some kitties then to work. Catch you all later.
Good morning all. I guess I'l just have some of the leftovers and curl up by the fire Slick left its so nice. Its a strange day for me I'm home unempolyeed and now one else is here(human) I have all three kittys and all three dogs keeping me company.
(rubs full tummy) I guess I had better go get my grocreis and cake for my sons birthday(late) kids will all be her later for dinner. I guess i will make shepards pie for dinner. I'll check in a little later.
Good morning to everybody! Hope all is doing okay.
Think I will just have some of that coffee this morning. It is kind of cool here and coffee just seems like it would really warm me old bones up.
Willie:D
*Yawn* TGIF! I am so sick of powerpoint, who came up with this garbage anyhow?
My Brother in law invented a drink last night:
Pinapple Juice and Sake, quite a wake up call, but very tasty!
Anyone have any ideas of what to call it?
I'll take two!! And a CNT for my boy, make sure you add a shrimp for him too!
Prayers for Toby here, poor boy :(
What a combination! Did you mix it like a highball??Quote:

I'm going to bring in some more wood and stoke up the fire a bit. Maybe one Thursday we could have a wood-chopping day. It might be a long winter ahead of us.
Hi Willie, Hi DDM, I Corinna. **waves**
{{{hugs Slick}}}} I kept the fire going . How are plans for the 26th going?
I haven't hear from the others yet but its still early.
Have not booked yet because I'm hoping to get a last-minute deal. So far it's going to cost $80 CDN for the night and that's with the CAA discount. I did call the hotel directly and the price they quoted me was alot higher. Will let you know. All I have to do now is secure a cat-sitter for the night.Quote:

Hi, everyone! Looks like there was quite a party here last night!
Are there any cinnamon rolls about? I'd love a big one and a cup of hot chocolate!:D
Hi MOFF: Don't know about any cinnamon rolls, but here's your hot chocolate. The mini marshies are on the bar. Help yourself.
288 days until the next July BBQ! :D :)
Thanks slick!Quote:

Slick, I think he mixed it in one of those Martini shaker thingys. :) Try it, its good! Gotta get the right balance though, too much sake makes it taste funny
Edit: Richard if its ok with you, Id like to make a suggestion for the DOTD next week: The Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster! :D
What BBQ in July? How come I am not invited to it?:D :D :DQuote:

Have a drink and post more!
Hypnophobia: Fear of sleep. Sure glad I don't have that one! I can't believe they've got names for every fear imagined. Unreal. Come on Gini, just a few more to go. I wish we could have one big PT meeting somewhere. Can you imagine what fun that would be?
