Sure, Amoore (a poet and don't know it *eww groan again*) I have fresh ground beans and will put a bottle of Kahlua on the bar for anyone that wants a splash. I also have fresh farm heavy cream from a cow I happen to know. And SHE'S NOT MAD. A little angry maybe, my hands were cold. :p ;) By the way, it's Lbaker.. it just looks funny when i type in lower case.
Laurie Baker (lbaker)
Sorry about spelling your name wrong.:o
Lbaker, I sure would love some of that Kahlua, My favorite drink!:D
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
I can't believe our weather. Yesterday it was dark and snowing all day long and this morning the beautiful blue sky is only showing a few fluffy white clouds with a reddish glow. Well, that's the west coast for you.
Did everyone have a good time last night??? You all need to check in and report. Where's Gini??? I know she went out last night....but did she return???????
Thanks for putting on the coffee amoore. I guess it's officially Thursday so the REAL party can get started. I'll just tidy up a bit around here and be right back.
I forgot to mention what I'm cooking back here in the kitchen today! OK, maybe it's a "Southern Thang" but we must have blackeyed peas for good luck. Always on New Years day. So I'm fixing up a large pork roast (with saurkraut for Jenny & I) and a pot of buttery, garlicky blackeyed peas and corn bread. I'll fix up some other greens for those that need it but we must eat at least ONE blackeyed pea for good luck. Ain't nothin' but a thing.. By the way Richard, that DOTD was verrry yummy!
Laurie, that sounds sooooo yummy!!!! You sure don't get cookin like that up here. I'll give you a hand *clap clap*:) :)
Well, I did it again this year. Slept through the new year celebration. I guess I've hit an age where it isn't that big of a deal. I was up at around 12:30 when the Molly o'clock went off. She had to potty, so everyone went out in shifts. You know three out, one in, two out, one in, one out - gets really crazy. I have to count to make sure I have them all in before I go back to bed.
But the interesting thing. One of our neighbors was shooting off a rifle/shotgun at 12:30 a.m. First I heard the howl of a coyote, then the shot, then the squawking of the canadian geese on the pond down the road. Definitely different than fireworks - weirder too. Must be them country folks celebrating.
Christmas Cookie Ingredients:
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
lemon juice
4 large eggs
1 cup nuts
2 cups of dried fruit
1 bottle Jose Cuervo Tequilla
Sample the Cuervo to check quality.
Take a large bowl, check the Cuervo
again, to be sure it is of the highest
quality, pour one level cup and drink.
Turn on the electric mixer...Beat one
cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar...Beat again.
At this point it's best to make sure the
Cuervo is still OK, try another cup ...
just in case.
Turn off the mixerer thingy. Break 2
leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in
the cup of dried fruit, Pick the
frigging fruit off floor... Mix on the
turner. If the fried druit gets stuck
in the beaterers just pry it loose with
a drewscriver. Sample the Cuervo to
check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt, or something.
Check the Jose Cuervo. Now shift the lemon
juice and strain your nuts. Add one
table. Add a spoon of sugar, or
somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash
the oven.
Turn the cake tin 360 degrees
and try not to fall over. Don't forget
to beat off the turner. Finally, throw
the bowl through the window, finish the
Cose Juervo and make sure to put the stove in the
dishwasher.

Now was that guy really Richard in disguise?
Boy, those aspirin from MOFF sure did the trick!!
Ohhhhh, that guy!!!! I thought he was a Haz-Mat guy and stuffed him in the L&F. I kinda remember getting out the mixing bowl, but everything's fuzzy after that. Gee, I hope I had a good time  :confused:Quote:

Tray are you alright?
And Laurie - where in the heck is Laurie? Oh Oh, we had better look for her!!
Much better now, that Hot Buttered Rum really hit the spot along with the asprins.
But those were lousy cookies, much too salty and very burnt, I can't believe I even tried them!!;)
Happy, everyone!
I woke up early to see the planes fly over the Rose parade....I can see them go from where I live.....Last year we had an airshow right before the football game then I went back to sleep.....again...
I am glad to see everyone bright and chipper today.....
I did stop in last night, shows you what exciting plans I had for NYE.... and I tied one on.......
I am getting ready for tonight, stacking up firewood and getting something to eat.........I do have to work tomorrow so......no more drinking for this kid......well maybe one more.....lol...
You all seem to have things under control so i'll check back with you all later on?
:)
Now gang, no asprins with liquor! I don't want you sick or worse! (shakes finger and head)
I still have half a bottle of white grape juice if anyone is interested. I'm sneaking off to watch a couple of movies I taped last night. TBN showed Left Behind and Left Behind 2. I've read the books now want to see if the movies are as good.
:D
I'm baaack - back, bake? Anyhoo.. I be here and ready to ruuumble. One of these days I'm going to have to get these gadgets fixed (computer keeps messing up on me, only lets me on for a few minutes at a time - my home 'puter that is). Let's see, where was I? Oh yeah.. I have a babies bottom and a kaluah & coffee and whatever in front of me and some weird Hose-A guy crawling around in the kitchen. Best take care of business now. Happy
*hic* New Year ;)
Love,
Hose-B
I'm back too!!! Went to the car wash.....I figure if I don't feel like doing housework, at least I can start off the year with a clean truck......:)
Richard, tomorrow's a workday for me too. No rest for the wicked I guess.
Laurie: careful with those hose guys....some of them have strange tools......
Not much happening on my side of the world today so I guess I settle down with the kitties and see what's on telly.....too early in the day for drinkin.....but as the song says "It's 5 o'clock somewhere". Set em up bartender :D
later.
I work tomorrow as well. Too bad, so sad but I have to do the print order for our journal so... maybe I can sneak out early, especially since all the "bosses" will be off. Pull up a chair Slick, I've enough pork roast & side dishes for us all. Let's eat well and get a good nights sleep. Oh, right - you guys are West Coast so have plenty of time left on this first day of the year. Enough time before dinner to bring some more wood in. Fires make me soooo sleepy.
Take care of your tools and your tools will take care of YOU ;)
MMMMMM good eats Laurie. I wish I could cook that that!!! I know what you mean about fires. My other condo had a wood fireplace and although the gathering and carrying of wood was a pain, it was worth it. There's nothing quite like sitting around a warm fire with 2 kitties to keep you company. That's my version of stress relief.:) It's only 3:30 here so we've lots of daylight left. Are you 3 or 4 hrs ahead??
MOFF: Thanks for the grape juice. Goes down nicely. Don't stay away too long, OK??
Tray is being awfully quiet...........and where is amoore??
Sorry, I went to sleep, and woke up with Grover sleeping on my face. LOL.
I don't know where amoore is, haven't seen her all day, maybe she partied too hard last night?
Well, I guess everyone is getting an early night. Guess I clean up this mess, lock up and go home. My my, what are all these burnt cookies doing over here?? Deep 6.
Nighty night peeps.
I am heading to bed too. Not feeling well.:(
We had computer troubles today.:(
WE went to Wally world and got grocerys, andy did buy me a present there, a DVD, The history of Harley- Davidson.:D
Is it just me? Does anyone else get depressed talking to their kid ?
Does anyone else do black eyed peas for new years? The casheir told a funny, because a woman was buying blackeyed peas. She said a customer said she put dried blackeyed peas in her wallet because it would give you the luck of always having money in your wallet! Said the woman said she had done that for two years and seem to have more money and believed it was the luck of the blackeyed peas.
Well, I better get to bed. I got to go and buy some dried blackeyed peas in the morning.
:D
I hope someone is still here. I had a very lazy day. My son left at noon to go play pool with his uncles and new brother(in-law soon) Tim and I went got groceries and a couple movies. Then vegged in front of the tv . not something we do often. We wanted to beat the strom coming in. Since noon (11:30 now)
we have had 9 inches of snow , but its drifting I have a 4ft drift behind my car.
thankfully the kids all decided they didn't have enough cash to go play pool, so my 2 played video games and the kid is spending the night at my daughters house. Gives me lots of time to pack for my business dinner in Missoula tommorrow , glad hubby is driving they are expecting more strom in the afternoon. we hope to make it there between stroms. It's about a 2 hour drive.
Poor Merlin had to have Lady brake the snow path to do his outie tonight. the snow has him hidden . Good thing we have that big goofy newfy, or Merlin would have me out shoveling a path for him.
hi everyone and Happy...again.
I think that we can keep the place open for today,
since we had a holiday yesterday....
I am drinking coffee this morning....anyone?
Hot chocolate would be lovely, please. It's foggy and misty here. Yuck, makes me cold to the bones.
I hope everyone had a good day yesterday. I was supposed to have the day off, but worked part of it.
Did anyone ever figure out who the L&F guy was?
Hot chocolate with some marshmallows - boy, does that ever sound good! I haven't had a cup of chocolate for years.
Richard, maybe we should just clean out the L & F once and for all and take an inventory of what is in there.........ugh - what a thought! Or, we could just put a lock on the door and forget that it ever existed.
Hey don't get rid of the lost and found! There might be some good stuff in there! Well, you could throw away the guy thats supposed to be in there, don't need 'That'.
I will take some coffee, I cannot function for the day if I don't have my coffee. I tell my grandkids do not attempt to bother me until I have had my morning coffee!
Thanks Richard!
Willie
I think the L&F guy is the bar "spirit"....He's anyone you want him to be;)Quote:

Hot Coffee....DONE!
Ill take a pot of coffee please, Richard?
Did anyone have a wild New Year?
April Fool's Day is a Thursday this year..............
A rummage sale..........not a bad idea - lock it up until then and then let everyone "rummage" to their heart's content.
I am not going near that place, those Haz Mat guys weren't that cute!!
Good morning folks!!! Another day, another dollar, or in my case 50 cents.:D :D It's going to be a long workday for me so I guess I'll start off slow.
Make it a double please.....
PLEASE DRINK A TOAST TO MY AUNT MARY!!!
I got word last night that my mother's oldest sister, Mary passed away yesterday morning. She had been in a nursing home for about a year and hated it. She had Alzheimer's and no longer remembered anyone. I wasn't real close to her but she would have been my guardian if the need had risen. No one loved cocktail hour more than my Aunt Mary. I want to celebrate her life, not mourn her passing. She would love having a round drank in her honor.
(raises glass of white grape juice)
Aunt Mary, thank you for volunteering to help raise me and my brother if needed. Luckily, for your sanity, the need never arose. Never the less, I am grateful you and Uncle Sam were there and willing. I know there is a big party in Heaven right now and you are being reunited with all the family. I wish we had been closer. Give everyone a big kiss from me. Thanks for being my aunt! I'll see you again someday! Oh, and feel free to pet any of my critters that stray your way! They would love it!
:)
No wild new year here....pretty safe and sane!Quote:

DONE!
MOFF,
One for Aunt Mary.....
To Aunt Mary, Now that she's shed her earthly being may she spread her wings, adjust her halo and enjoy being free from any human pain.
WGJ...
DONE!
MOFF: My Grandmother Rose loved happy hour too and I'm sure the two of them are raising their glasses as we speak.
**raises glass**
To you Aunt Mary and to you Rose. May you be best friends forever and watch over us all.
Sorry for your loss MOFF.:(
Richard: :D Take a number. My family and friends are asking the same question.....
Hi everyone - happy day after new years. On New Years day we had six inches of snow (which is a lot for us) - it was so pretty - but now its turning to slush - at least the roads are clear today.
No wild NYE here - we did torch the tree as promised, and lit off some really nice illegal fire works. I almost didn't make it - I was starting to fade around 9:30pm and the thought of going to bed right then was really tempting, but I managed to hold on.
What's with these cookies? - they're kind of salty and it looks like someone tried to scrape off the burned parts of them - something my mom used to always do to toast. You would think that a woman capable of raising five children would have been capable of making toast without burning it.;)
MOFF - speaking of toast, a toast to your aunt Mary - she is in a better place now, with all of her memories once again intact.
Thanks for the coffee. Now that I've had one cup, could you slide that bottle of Kahlua over here?
MOFF, sorry for your loss.
These cookies are not that bad..what kind are they anyway???
This coffee is much better than that green stuff I got a few weeks back!:D
Just wanted to check in and say "Hi and Happy New Year" to everyone. I'm back from vacation and from being sick, and am quite ready for a DOTD - whatever that is. I haven't read through this whole thread yet, so just give me the drink and I'll be back after some serious reading. ;) :D
