Way to go, Hope!!! What a fighter you are!!! We will continue with our prayers. Julie, give Hope a hug and kiss for me.
DOGRESQ,
I'm so happy to hear that HOPE gets to be
back home with you !!!
Hope can't help but feel good when she is
with people she loves...and who love her!!!
You,Julie, and Dearest Hope will stay in my
thoughts and prayers as long as it takes &
then some...
Hope and Julie you certainly make an incredible duo!
Julie+Hope=LOVE! Hope, you are a wonder to behold! Love to you Julie and to Hope, the WonderDog!!
I thought of a good rename for Hope (not that Hope is not the perfect name). How about Wunderhund? German for Wonder Dog!! lol Hope the Wunderhund!
I just can't say it enough-THANKS to all of you for your support and prayers for without it Hope and I would not have made it through all of these crises. Mugsy, I love the name!!! It sure fits her! Hopefully this will be our last challenge and we can look forward to Hope having her eye surgery and anxiously await the day she can see. Thanks again! :) :D :) :D
Oh Julie I'm so glad to hear that Hope the Wunderhund is doing better and now we can concentrate on her being able to see her savior!
DOGRESQ,
Just thought I'd check in to see how You
and Hope are doing!! Did Her glucose get
stabilized,is she eating?? In other words
how is Hope doing lately? Also how are You
and your 'Gang of Critters' getting along?
Post whenever you have time. Please know
that you (Julie) and Hope are in my thoughts
and prayers...
ALL THE BEST...Lizbud.
Hope the "Wonder Dog" continues to amaze us all one more time. I think we have figured it out and she is now on half regular adult food and half special high fiber food. Evidently the high fiber food helps metabolize the Insulin better thus requiring her to need less Insulin. She is still having her blood drawn every other day to make sure we are on the right track. And still she never growls or bites. She must know that all involved are there to help her. Of course, I am watching her like a hawk. I am on vacation this week so I have a lot of extra time to spend with her and the rest of my gang. Hope is actually starting to play with my rottie and it is the funniest thing to watch. I don't think Hope ever had someone to play with. My rottie is a tease as I think she knows Hope cannot see her and she goes and hides and waits for Hope to come and look for her and then she runs past her and the chase begins. There is no greater joy than to see Hope loving life!!!!
P.S. Hope still has the same spot on the bed! ;)
I'm so glad to hear a good report. I'm also thrilled that she is learning how to play. Isn't sad that all dogs don't have what all of our dogs have? All of ours are either sleeping on the floor, couch, or bed right now...they are such lazy poochies! ;) So happy for you and Hope and continued success. Let us know when she gets to have her cataracts removed!
It's wonderful to hear that Hope is finally learning to play. She deserves to have some fun.
Enjoy your vacation, Julie. I would love to see a picture of Hope and your rottie playing together. What a wonderful sight that would be! Bless that precious girls heart. She deserves a little happiness, and you deserve to witness it! :D :D
It must be wonderful to see Hope have hope and starting to enjoy life. What a joy it must be to see those two playing together.
Enjoy your vacation
Jackie
That's wonderful news!! I am so thrilled that finally Hope can know a little "joie de vive!!" Have a wonderful vacation! I know Hope will :)
That's great! I hope you both have a great time!
Hope, you and Killi are my inspirations. No matter what is thrown your way, you guys seem to overcome it. I am so glad you are able to feel what playing is like. What a lovely sight that must have been. Are we going to see any new pictures of you soon? May God continue to bless you, girl.
DOGRESQ,
Thank You for sharing the good news about
Hope.. To be able to see Hope playing &
acting happy, more confident in her home,
must be So Great for you to see!!!
Thank You Julie for being the person you
are and a Great Momma !!!
Continuing prayers for Hope & You (Julie)!!!
P.S. Extra glad to hear that Hope is keeping
her spot on the bed warm...
I'm having Hope update withdrawals. Anything new on the Hope front? How long is the wait for eye surgery? I hope everything is going well. :)
Hope seems to be on a roller coaster ride as far as her glucose level goes. She was too low and now she is too high with her glucose at 404 last time it was checked. The vet is again changing her food and increasing her Insulin to try and get her regulated. Evidently it is harder to regulate a dog than a human. Last week I was on vacation and I had a lot of time to spend with her and the rest of my gang and is was most wonderful!!!! :) :) :) The weather was perfect and the aspen trees were just beautiful and walking all of them was just what I needed!! They are the best therapy in the world! Hope's eye surgery is scheduled for Oct. 31 as long as we can get her regulated. I'm going to think positive and do a lot of praying. As always she is in good spirits and continues to keep on going no matter what. Again, I have every reason to believe that "Wonder Dog" will stablilize so she can have the surgery. Hope sends her love to all of you who care so much about her! :D :D
Precious Hope...Try not to worry sweet girl. Sometimes regulating Insulin can be a bit difficult and tricky. But with all those special loving humans their to help you, to love you, we just know you're going to be on track very soon. :) And Oct. 31 is not too far away. What an exciting day that will be. So happy to hear that you and your "mom" had a wonderful vacation! Those Colorado aspens singing in the wind is music to the soul, for sure! Lots of love and special prayers to beautiful, brave Hope, the "Wonder" and MOST WONDER-FUL Dog!!
I'm sooooooo happy to know that kind people lke you were able to save a life.... But there are many more dogs out there.... :(
Ok, lots of extra Hope prayers on the list until October 31. I'll ask for my birthday present to be that Hope has her sugar regulated by then...that will be the best gift I could get. Hang in there baby girl...you'll be fine...I have faith in you. You too Julie! I'm glad you got to spend some time with the troops. I've had LOTS of time and will have lots of time until November when I can go back to school.
LindysMomma,
What you say is true, but Please no 'sad
thoughts' allowed on this thread, only good positive vibes for HOPE!!!!
All we can do ,as you know, is to keep spreading the Spay/Neuter message every chance we get...Meanwhile it's "one dog at a time"...
P.S. Loved Lindy's webpage.
Hang in there Hope, and you too, Julie! Thank you so much for being there for her. You are both amazing. Hope, Daisy had eye surgery three weeks ago and she says that it isn't so bad, so don't be scared :)
We are continuing our prayers for Hope and you, too, Dogresq! I hope that soon we will be getting good news about regulating Hope's insulin. Good luck!
Sue
i just want to reiterate what the rest of the pet talk gang are talking about!!!! hope and dogresq are in our prayers....we want the best for all....we are glad that hope found you.....keep up your strength hope!!!!!
I just don't understand why one poor dog seems to be dealt all the bad cards. Hope now has giardia. So now she feels awful again and all of you know what giardia does. Hopefully the medication will take hold soon. But she is still wagging her tail!!!
Julie,
I know that whatever that girl is enduring right now, it is Heaven to her, compared to her life B.J. (Before Julie). But I am so sorry she has yet another problem. Hope and you, Julie, remain in our prayers.
Logan
:)
Ditto, Logan! Poor Hope, why is this all happening to such a sweet girl like her? I hope she feels better soon.
Is Hope taking Metronidazole (Flagyl) for the giardia? Watch her for any liver problems. Since she was so skinny, her liver was probably compromised. Look for orange urine, jaundice, the whites of the eye turning yellow, pale gums, lack of appetite, or lethergy. I found out on the liver disease bb that this drug can cause liver problems, even though most vets are under the impression that this is a safe drug. This is what my Killian crashed on. Just look for those symptoms, please. Hopefully everything will turn out well for you, Hope. We are praying for you!
Sue
My Jingles was on metronidazole as well and monitoring is so important. I'm so sorry Hope has yet another health problem to deal with. Lots of prayers for Hope that the medic. and the healing love of Julie will see her through this. I know in Julie, she has the best guardian angel by her side. Keep wagging that tail precious girl :)
Note: the metronidazole crash came in the second week of being treated with it. It seemed to be helping Killian and then he crashed. Just be aware of this danger.
That poor girl! It just isn't fair. At least she is where she is loved and cared for. Imagine what would have happened if she were still alone in the woods. Julie, you deserve a medal! Hope, you hang in there little girl. We're thinking of you all the time. My 11 are waiting to meet you!
There are so many prayers and love going out to Hope and Julie that it has to have a positive effect on Hope. Julie you are an angel to have so much patience and love to give to this poor little girl. I'm sure the love is returned to you by just looking into Hope's eyes. This dog deserves a better life and I'm sure Julie is doing her best to give it to her. If there is anything that we possibly could do to help please let us know.
In the meantime God be with you both.
Jackie
DOGRESQ,
Tell little Miss Hope we all LOVE her& will
light a candle and say extra strong prayers
that She's feeling better SOON!!!
The fact that Hope is still with us now is
a small miracle in itself! God Bless You
Hope and Your loving & compassionate
Guardian, Julie !! Love from Liz & Buddy.
Well, I've just read all the postings and saw the picture of Hope das Wunderhund and figure the previous owner(s) were aware of the diabetes and that's why they dumped her. Then, again, she could have been lost as I have seen ads in the paper for dogs that needed medication. Who knows? Still, I'm glad you have had the bigness of heart, DogResQ to take her in and help her out. It can be a tremendous inspiration to be around a dog that by all odds ought not to have survived the starvation, let alone the diabetes, eye problems, cancer and now the giardia. I have to admit, I don't know what that is, but from the description of symptoms for Killian, it sounds AWFUL! Have they done liver function tests on her? I take it that since she is scheduled for the eye surgery later this month that they found no problems with her retinas? What else could happen to this poor dog? Your love for her and her response are beautiful to hear about and I am adding my hopes and prayers that she will enjoy recovery in God's Perfect Plan for her life. He placed her in a home that doesn't look upon "challenged" dogs as a problem to be rid of, but to be dealt with and loved no matter what. I am anxiously awaiting further updates. May the Lord Bless you and keep you -- Both of you (and all the tender souls that have posted to this page).
Sudilar-Hope is on Flagyl. Thank you for the info and warning signs. The vet told me to watch for neurological problems because of her diabetes but not the other warning signs. Of course I watch her like a hawk and ANYTHING unusual and she goes to the vet immediatley!!! So far so good but she has only been on the medication for a few days so I will be especially cautious the second week. I am trying to see this as a "small" bump in the road as we look forward to her eye surgery. THANK YOU all for your words of encourgement and prayers. You don't know how much it helps Hope and I. I haven't met any of you but I consider you all my dear friends! :D
You know Julie, I felt like I knew you when we hung up the phone when we talked. It's amazing how when animal lovers get together that they immediately bond when something happens to someone's animal. You and Hope deserve all the prayers and good thoughts that have been sent your way. Hope needs someone like you who is like a rock for her to lean on. I'm so happy that there are other people out there like Mike and me who never say they have too many animals! lol I even emailed a woman about a Weim that's in Ohio...I have ALWAYS wanted another Weim and he sounds like he needs help and you all know what a sucker I am for a sad story. I will continue the prayers and good thoughts for you and Hope that the giardia is taken care of soon and that the surgery goes off without a hitch and Hope can see again.
I'm really sorry for this other obstacle to Hope's recovery. Hope and Julie you are both in my heart and thoughts.
