I'm so glad that Bassett is back home and breathing better. Prayers and positive energy are still coming your way. I also hope that you're able to work out some kind of a payment plan.
We're crying tears of joy that you and your beloved Bassett are together again. We will continue to send you our prayers and our most positive thoughts your way. I know how important it is to be able to hold your baby, to smell her fur, look into her eyes and tell her how very loved she is. Life is so tentative. My best big boy, Mr. B., was just diagnosed with diabetes this week and I share those fears, uncertainties and feelings of dread you are experiencing. My whole family sends you our love and best wishes for Bassett's speedy recovery. And please give your dear girl a gentle kiss and soft hugs from all us here. Love, Sandra, Mr. B and Oliver.
Exactly what I was thinking. I'm so glad she's back home with you. Both of you will feel much better this way. And thoughts and prayers are definitely still on their way. Please give her a big hug from T & P and me. :)Quote:

I am so glad that sweet Bassett is back home with you, where she will get the TLC from mom that she deserves. I will continue to send my love to Bassett. She is a very dear girl and I am really hoping that she'll completely pull out of this.
Take care and give that girl a head bumpie from me & Minion.
I am very glad that Bassett gets to be home with you.
I did feel as Vio & Juni said;
" I followed this thread from the beginning, but I was so sad about it that I couldn't write anything.
I hope the vet will find the right treatment for her and you, with us, will have her for many years."
This must be so stressful for both of you. Having her home again
hopefully will let you both feel better. Now that the vets know
what it is'nt, maybe they are closer to finding a way to make
her better completely. You will stay in my prayers for a complete
recovery for sweet Bassett.
We wish you all the best , sweet Bassett !!

many nose-kissies from your pals , Inka & Maya !!
Naomi,
I'm glad Bassett is home where you can give him all the love he needs. I will pray that the results of the CT scan are okay. Remember, we're all here if you need us. Give Bassett a hug and kiss for me.
Bassett is doing well after the weekend. She is on a heart medication and an antibiotic, but the antibiotic was more preventative because there was a abnormality in her blood reading but the vet thought it might have to do with something else. However, she didn't want to have Bassett have an infection so we are treating it just in case. She is still breathing better but I'm watching it REALLY closely. Also she is being a very good girl and letting me give her her pills and medicine without too much fuss.
Other than that, money is the only other concern. Her bill was $420 and the ultrasound and other tests are another $375 at least, plus I have to take her across the ferry to do the tests (I found a clinic in Burnaby that does what I need done). They are also getting me in as soon as there is an opening so I'm grateful for that. I just have to make sure I keep up with school if I have to miss classes to get her to the clinic.
Thank you all for your contiued support and prayers. It's nice to know I can come here and vent and not have someone say "well it's just a cat." Sadly, that's been the case in most of the people I've talked to. They say, "you are not thinking clearly because you aren't thinking of the quality of life for Bassett, and it's an awful lot of money for just a pet." Well, that makes me really angry. I can't just let Bassett die - I have to try. I'm doing what the vet says I need to do. I flat out asked the vet, "is the tests worth it or is she going to die?" and the vet said "she has to have the ultrasound without a doubt - it has to be done" so I figure that means there is some hope for her recovery. What kind of person would I be if I said "oh well it's not worth trying?" :( Anyway, some people have been really good about it. My friends came over this weekend and were really supportive, and even helped me with the costs of a few groceries. At least I know that I have them and everyone here at PT to support me. Thank you all so much for everything. It really helps.
We are with you every step of the way, in our thoughts and in our prayers, and imagining the purrs of Bassett when she is happy and with you. Hope the ferry ride goes smoothly, we'll be keeping you in our prayers still.
Well, I hope they will tell you only good news. Good luck!
They may be 'just animals' to some people, but we know better :) I'm so glad Bassett is being a good patient for her mummycat and she's taking her medications without too much fuss. Thank you for the update and good luck with the journey to Burnaby, skilled vets, payment plans and a healthy Bassett at the end.
Glad to hear Bassett is still doing well. We wish you luck when you go to Burnaby.
Yay! Bassett!!! Way to make some progress!!!! I am so glad things are at least on a plateau, and you are moving forward with things diagnostically. Good luck, and take care of you and Bassett!!!!
Johanna
Still praying for you from here.
Naomi,
Those ignoramuses who make stupid comments like that are just plain ignorant. "Alot of money for just a pet" is the most assanine remark I've heard. But don't feel alone because I went through it with Casey. My comeback was always "All that money for just a kid????" They'd have this dumbfounded look on their faces like there is a difference. The best thing to do with those idiots is to ignore them for them know NOT what they're talking about.
Hang in there.
(((((hugs)))))
I'm so glad to hear that Bassett is home safe with you. I will continue to pray for help for Bassett after the ultrasound.
Take care, know that we are here for you and sweet Bassett.
God Bless.
I want to thank you all again for the continiued support. Everyone has been wonderful and I appreciate everyone's help. I got the results back from Bassett's urine sample test, and it is showing decreased kidney function, which the vet thinks is a result of hypertension. However, she doesn't want to start medicating and have it be a total different problem. That's why the ultrasound is the next crucial step.
I have had some people offer to help pay for this treatment, and I just want to say to them thank you SO much. I thought I would post here how that process might work rather than type a bunch of PM's. However, I'm NOT asking for money. I've been ok so far, and even if no one could offer help I would still find a way to do it. But, like I said, some people have offered help and have asked for some information.
The critcal care clinic does not accept third party cheques, nor does it accept cheques in a currency other than Canadian money, which makes sense. However, the girl said that money orders , made out to "ANIMAL CRITICAL CARE GROUP" are fine. Also, the money orders would have to be sent to me, not directly to the clinic because she was afraid that they might get lost because money order's aren't usually labelled with a memo line like a cheque. If anyone has any more questions, please PM or email me. I'm just posting the money order option because I totally understand being hesitant about all this. I cannot cash a money order made out to another name and organization.
Again, I'm not asking for money. I appreciate the help that has been offered more than I can possibly say, and I thank you SOOO much for everything. Just knowing that you are all here and acting as my extensive support system has been enough. Thank you, I love you all dearly, and your friendship is treasured.
Bassett was able to get into the clinic on Wednesday, at noon! I'm so happy they got her in so fast! My boyfriend is lending me the money to get it done. I'm so glad it's finally starting to move forward! :)

Wow, Wed. that is good news. Waiting is the hardest part, aside from not knowing. Best, BEST of luck in finding out the problem and then correcting it.
Good luck again!
Hi, It's been a few days since I was able to check in at Pet Talk but I have been thinking about Bassett. I'm glad things are moving forward and I hope everything turns out fine. Prayers are still being sent for Bassett.

Naomi,
Good luck tomorrow!!! Thoughts and prayers from the tuxies and me to you and Bassett!!
I was going to PM you, but thought others might like to know too: What is your ADDRESS?? (or, is this possibly a safety concern? If so, pm me with it!!)
Glad that Bassett is doing well.
Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers.
hugs to you!
Best wishes and prayers for you and Bassett from Laura, Gus and Squirt.
We're thinking of you.
Great news that Bassett can get in tomorrow. Know that we'll be praying hard for you both.
That is so sweet that your boyfriend is offering to loan you the money, sounds like a keeper to me!
Yes, if you wouldn't mind, I would like your address as well.
Take care Naomi.
So pleased how things are going well Naomi - still got fingers crossed and you and Bassett are in my prayers {{{{Hugs}}} across the miles.
Lynne
I have not been here for some days and I also am glad that something will happen. Tigris and Filou keep their paws crossed and so do I.
Thank you all so much. Bassett and I will be catching the bus at 6pm, and heading to the ferry. Wish us luck!
For those who want my address, I was on the Christmas card list, and so if you still have it the address is the same. If you need it again please PM me as I sometimes skim over some of the questions when I'm just popping in.
Thank you all. I'm so blessed. I will let you all know how the tests go.
Naomi and Bassett
I just now saw this post for the first time .... you and Bassett are in my thoughts!
I know it's only Wednesday morning there. I can't wait until tomorrow. First thing tomorrow morning I will check to see what are the news. Hopefully, they're going to be good.
Good luck Naomi and Bassett! Hopefully there will be good news to report. Will be thinking of you guys all day and waiting for an update. :)
I stopped off at the Animal Critical Care office today on the way to work to drop off a card for Naomi. While I was there I took a quick "boo" around and it's a very nice facility. The people there seemed very caring and compassionate. I know the Bassett is in good hands.
Let's all pray for a speedy recovery.
