She is too sweet to take her little foster sis under her wing. But that is too bad that she got the kennel cough :) Hope she is feeling better.

I don't know if the experts would agree, but I am of the opinion that this type of dog has the best chance of success as an only dog and with a guardian who is fairly knowledgable about what they are about to deal with. Even though we made it with Hannah, who had a much older sibling who tried her best to mother her, she really wanted to assert her little Alpha personality over Tizzie which just added another issue to the mix of raising her.
Oh my, those pictures are soooo adorable!
I know you have it under control Leslie! Those pictures are precious. I think Kersey is really going to miss her puppy when you do find the right home for her!
Those photos of Ellie and Kersey are so adorable, Leslie!
I hope they get better soon.
*hugs*
They are sooo cute together!!!!
I would love to have another dog to do agility and freestlye with, but I'm just not sure 3 dogs is a good idea for us. If only... :)
AMD- what is the current status on Ellie? While my heart is set on a rottie, I love AS...my brother has two of them, and I think they are wonderful. ....maybe, just maybe....
I replied to your PM...call me and we can talk about her and you can decide if she could be the right dog for you.Quote:

OMG!! We might turn a cataholic into a dogaholic too!!!!
awesome!!!!
Hopefully she will be cat safe!! :(
Well she's really good with Minion. Curious but not overly pushy in the slightest. Minion is an exceptionally tolerent guy, though. He never raised a paw to the pup, nor did he growl or hiss or anything. Ellie sees no threat whatsoever in kitties since Min is so easy going and he's so dog friendly. Ellie is on Petfinder now, as of last night, and someone is coming to see her tonight from Holland, Ohio.Quote:

Let us know how the meeting goes Leslie. I hope Ellie finds her forever home tonight. It sounds like you could use the break and she needs it.
Praying this is the perfect forever home for sweet independent Ellie! Keep us posted.
Ellie is officially adopted to a very nice, very active young couple who came all the way from Ohio to adopt her. They had been looking for a red tri female aussie for a long time and Ellie was love at first sight. I warned them of all her typical aussie ways, and they are thrilled to take on the mission of raising a happy, healthy Ellie! Her new mom is a jogger and her new dad is into obedience and especially frisbie! He's going to do obedience and disk dog training with Ellie, and the wife will take her on her daily jogs once she is ready. They have no plans on having kids, and they plan on making Ellie their new child. Tonight is my last night with Ellie, and tomorrow I am taking her to the Humane Society where they will meet me and they'll take her from there.Quote:

It was hard to see Saph go (who is now named Riley), but Ellie has worn out her welcome :) I love her, but I am not terribly sad about her leaving. I know that I will miss her, but I also will breath a huge sigh of relief. Puppies are a LOT of work, especially when they are spunky like Ellie! And I feel great about the homes that both of my babies got, so I am quite confindent that they will never know abuse or neglect. They will be spoiled and adored, as they deserve to be. Both puppies' new parents promised to keep in touch, and send pics of their growth and development. I also asked both of the puppies' new parents if they would please let me know if something goes wrong and they can't keep the dog for any reason. They both assured me that nothing like that would ever happen, but they'll keep in mind what I said.
I am not sure how Kersey will react, but I imagine she'll be devistated. I know that she'll get over it, because I'll be paying extra attention to her and Graham when Ellie is gone.
They asked me if I would take a Kennel Cough infected, 79 pound chocolate labbie boy over Christmas and New year, but I think I'll pass, unless it's life or death for him. I'll let you all know if I take on that big fella, but odds are not likely...I need a break :)
It sounds like Ellie is going to an ideal home! I'm so happy for these two pupsters. Yes, take your break. ;)
I am so glad that Ellie found a new home and Here in OHIO!!! Maybe you could have told them about PetTalk and they could bring her to the dog park sometime!!!
Take a break Sweet Leslie you deserve it!
It sounds like she will be very happy & loved!
Yes, sound like you need a much deserved rest, expecially with christmas right around the corner:eek:
WOW!!! Holland Ohio, is Toledo!!! That is sooo great!!! I wonder where they do obdience?? It is possible we may see this little pup at school, although there are plently of places around here to train...
I'm glad Ellie has found a good home and that you are getting a well deserved break! I have asked people about fostering before and how you can let dogs go, and I was told, some dogs you just know aren't going to be a dog you are even tempted to keep, even though you want the best for them. Sounds like this may be the case, and the way it worked out. That is great!!!
Like Staci, said, maybe we can get them to go to the Dog Park...if not Findlay, BG would only be about 20 min for them.
Last pics of Ellie before she went off to her forever home:
These show nicely how neat her eyes are...one as blue as Kimmy's Kia's eyes, and one green:

It's neat how her ears are going to be completely errect, compared to Saph, who's ears were and still are droop. I swear, Ellie is a spitting image of Kia, only small!

OMG!!! Would you look at that!! Her ears are now erect! How cool! Now she really does look like a mini Kia. :D Andy will just love to see these pics.
I'm so happy to hear that Ellie found a forever home. Sounds like she'll be in heaven. :)
And you do take that much needed rest Leslie and enjoy your holiday season. You deserve it.
Congrats on all your work.
Ellie is going to be one beautiful doggie...she looks so alert to everything around her. What a beautie! I am glad that she has found a forever home. That sounds like it was a huge job, even though it was only for a few weeks, and I hope you have a wonderful holiday now!! :D
Congratulations on a job well done, Leslie. You deserve a break (and a metal) for taking on the puppers. Give yourself five gold stars too.
Those pictures are just adorable!! She really does look like a mini Kia!! Enjoy your well deserved break and have a great holiday!!
oh, they are the cutest little things! I just want to let u know that i wish u and the pups all the luck in the world with finding wonderful, knew homes!
when the time comes to let them go, just remember that they are going to wonderfly good homes where they will have all the love in the world! u are doing them a great favor! :)
did i menchin that they are the cutest little things i have ever seen?!
I knew you could do it Leslie!!! I am thrilled to hear Ellie has the perfect forever home. I know all too well the bittersweet feeling of missing them but having them wearing out their welcome. When we had 10 running around at 8 weeks it was an all day (and night) job. I cried when they left but slept peacefully (until Dusty had to get up to potty)! LOL
Ellie is a really beautiful girl! :D Take your much needed break and Have a happy holiday knowing you helped two families have a richer and more joyful Christmas!!! ;)
Oh my, she is just beautiful!!! Her new family is just going to love her:D
Beautiful pictures, Leslie!
Leslie, have you heard anything from the new owners of Saph and Ellie??
Yes, both pups are doing great! Riley's new family adore him to pieces. They call me often to give me updates. They are really doing all the right things in his socialization and they have signed him up for his first obedience class already. The mom is a stay-home mom and there are two beautiful girls, one about 6 and one about 8 and the dad is a real sweet heart, too. A wonderful family and Riley (Saph) was extremely lucky to have landed himself in such a good home.
Ellie still has the same name, because her new mom and dad loved it. She is doing really well and her new parents have called once and sent me an email with a few pics attached. They adore her. They are a young couple who have no desire for children (at least for a long while) and they said that Ellie was their child...their first born :) She looks REALLY happy in the pics! When I'm back to work again (I had the week between Christmas and New Year off), I'll post some of the photos of Ellie, and maybe I'll have some new pics of Riley by then.
Thanks for asking about them. I do miss them, especially Riley.
That is sooooooo great!! I'm so pleased that they both got such great homes so quickly. Thanks for updating and I can't wait for pictures.
Looking forward to pictures! :D
Oh, glad to hear that all went well and that all of them are adopted out with no problems. Sounds like they're doing great and that's wonderful to hear! Thanks for the update!
The only reason I don't breed or rescue dogs is I could never let them go. My city has a two dog limit and I already have three!
