Cassie wants to say hi

Guess what PT? My person was having leaking eyes last night on the telephone. She said something about "wurk" and not going there anymore. I am not sure why her eyes were leaking, though - if she doesn't go to "wurk", she gets to spend more time with... MEEEEEEE! And I like that!

Elyse here. I took an agency position that was to have lasted two months, possibly longer. I was called into the manager's office yesterday and told that it was my last day because of the hospital's very strained financial situation. No more agency nurses effective immediately. Yesterday was the end of my fifth week there. I'm mad for a few reasons. When I called my agency to let them know I'd been let go, they did not know anything about it. Since they employ me I should have heard it from the agency, not from my supervisor at the hospital. I still have expenses to meet and bills to pay. Under Illinois law I am not eligible for unemployment because I have not been on the job 30 days. Oh, how I dislike agency work.

Just seeing this. Sorry to hear your hooman has leaky eyes, Cassie, just make sure you spend plenty of quality lap time and it'll help dry them up.

Of COURSE you should have heard that from the agency, not the hospital manager. And not even any advance notice. You certainly didn't deserve to be treated like that.

Elyse, I'm sorry to hear that you were let go like that without any kind of warning.:( I hope that a better job will come your way very soon. How is Cassie doing? Dear PT Aunties and Uncles ... A quick update. Meowm and I have shifted my eating schedule again because she is home with me and because the doctor said I need to gain some ounces. We are trying five times a day. Three meals plus a pre-breakfast and a bedtime snack. One of the higher-quality foods she bought was recalled so she's going back to Petsmart today to look at the other brands and bring something else home. She had leaky eyes again yesterday about "wurk" -- but I say pffft, who needs "wurk" when she could spend her days with ME :love:. I know she is worrying and I try to give her head bumps and purr to help her not worry so much. She is going to talk to my grand-purrents about paying for my dental treatment if she doesn't go back to "wurk" soon. It is still cold out but I like to sit by the window and watch the sky, clouds and birds during the day.

Elyse here... I am trying to get another position quickly because I still have to pay mortgage and other expenses. I'm trying to not worry so much about it, but worrying is easy to do. Cassie is a good help to me because she keeps me smiling!

Hi, PT - Cassie here! Guess what, I have some news. Meowm is going back to w-u-r-k starting next week. I think that is bad, of course, because she won't be home all day to hug, snuggle, pet, love on and be with ME. She said w-u-r-k means she will be able to pay for things like health care and food for both of us, a roof over our heads, keeping the lights on and things like that. So I will let her go there. I heard her tell grandmeowmie on the phone that she will learn a new computer system and get to do a type of work she has not done before, so that is good. And we can still snuggle on the week-ends.

Kitties, doggies and pets - could you please have your people give you some petting and hugs for my meowm and me. We are thankful for our Pet Talk community!

Groucho doesn't like it when I go to wurk too. He stays in the bathroom while I try to get ready getting in the way until I stop and pick him up to give him lovies Then he tries to climb into my backpack, lies down on my jacket and falls asleep. But he doesn't know that in September we'll have more time together because I'm going to retire and won't have to go to wurk anymore. Instead, I'll be doing legal research so animals and pets will have better lives.

Honey, Meowmies have to go to wurk so that we can pay bills and take good care of you. That's how we can get you the things you need and want. Your Meowmie loves you very much and this is how she can give you the best of everything.

Cassie, I know that you'll be sad when your meowmie leaves you to go back to work but she'll come home to you each night. Now she'll be able to buy you lots of food, treats, and toys and all of the other necessities that you need. I'm so glad that you found another job Elyse. I hope that everything will work out for you. Good luck.:)

Dear PT, Meowm did pretty good today at w-u-r-k. She was a little late getting home because she had to stop for my gushy fudz. Right now we are sitting on the love seat. She is typing on the 'puter, and I am purring.

This is wonderful news, Cassie! There's nothing better for us Meowmies than to have our sweet kitties snuggle with us and purr when we come home from wurk. We miss you while we're wurking and can't wait to come home to you. I'm sure you're making your Meowmie very happy by letting her know you missed her too and feel so happy that she's home with you now. Be sure to give her a few kitty kisses too.

There are two of us at work who are both meowmies to adorable kitties. We live in the same building and ride to and from work together. We both love to come home to our furkids and always look forward to getting off work (even though we both love our job!)

Hi, PT -- Cassie here! Guess what, I woke up meowm a little earlier for my pre-breakfast: 4 AM!

(Cassie's meowmie here. She was looking for her bedtime snack a little earlier. I usually feed her the last part of her supper right as the 10 o'clock news starts. Last night she was meowing for it closer to 9, so I gave it to her then. I knew she would be looking for her first part of breakfast a little earlier this morning. It's still dark out as I'm typing! I'll give her the rest of her breakfast in a few hours, before I leave for work.)

Meowm's w-u-r-k is going well. She got assigned to help prepare records for a medical committee meeting, and she was happy about being asked to do those! Guess what she saw on the way home from w-u-r-k last Friday, a coyote! And yesterday two deer along the edge of the Forest Preserves.

Saturday, 1:10 AM. I am sitting on the love seat with the computer on the arm of the love seat. Cassie is stretched out beside me with her entire back ... from her neck to her tail ... up against me. I really, really need to move my leg because my foot has fallen asleep. But she is so comfortable and content ... (wiggling my ankle trying to get my foot to wake up again)

I woke up this morning about 5:30 AM, and I realized I'd need to move carefully because Cassie had settled herself against the back of my knees :) She does that sometimes, and I always hate to move when she's there.

That happens with one or more of mine, too.

Dear PT Friends, Cassie did something today that I don't think she has ever done before! I was getting ready to shower, and left the bathroom to get my glasses from the bedroom. (I take my glasses off the last second before I step into the shower, and put them back on right when I'm done, because of my crappy depth perception.) The bathroom light was on but I hadn't turned the water on. Cassie often naps on the bathroom rug in the winter. On the other side of the bathroom wall is the laundry room for my floor of the building, so the bathroom is often warm when someone is using the clothes dryer. She likes that. I'm used to finding her in there. So I go get my glasses and go back in the bathroom. Guess who hops up onto the edge of the bathtub - from inside the tub?! And she gave me the "I meant to be in there" look, and calmly walked out of the bathroom. All these years and I have never seen her do that before! Wish I'd had a camera! I couldn't stop laughing. I told her I was going to share the moment with Pet Talk :D

She definitely was inspecting it for your safety! A kitty's work is never ending!

That is too funny Elyse! I wonder if she had been in there before and you never noticed? None of my 3 would EVER get into the tub. :D

We had a bit of an adventure today! (well, an adventure on a senior kitty level) I was ready to leave for my mom and dad's and Cassie came to the door. She doesn't usually do that when I am leaving. As I was getting ready to close and lock the door, she walked out into the hallway! And gave me a look like, I'm just checking to see what's happening on the other side of this door. She hasn't done a door dart for a very long time! I busted out laughing and my neighbor across the hall heard me laughing, and came out to say hello to her. As I'm typing she is sitting on the love seat next to me, smacking me gently with her tail.

What fun!
