But even Kate didn't last as long as Bristol (I'll say her name, I don't care!LOL)
And usually the people in the finals are good dancers, at least. But yes, it is a popularity contest. That is correct.

So, my question is - after tonight, who would you send home?
That was, IMHO, the best night of dancing I have ever seen on DWTS. Each of the four couples was spectacular, sublime - without exception.
Based just on last night's dancing, I couldn't decide who to send home. They ALL were fantastic. But taking into consideration all the dances from the start, it would have to be Bristol. I have to say tho - she is really good, and if they had an award for "most improved", she would get it. Overall, I think this has been the best season ever.
I'm sticking with Jennifer to win it. She's awesome.
I watched it last night. Is it ME, or have they been giving Bristol alot of publicity lately? Just an observation.
Jennifer Gray is the epitome of grace and elegance. I tried to call in and got the buzy signal. They won't DARE send her home!
BTW, did anyone watch Sara Palin's Alaska the other night? I did just cuz I was bored. I sat there, shook my head through the first 15 minutes and shut if off.
The apple don't fall far from the tree. Bristol's little sister Willow, tried to sneak her boyfriend up into her bedroom. UGH!! Can you say BIRTH CONTROL??? I hope history doesn't repeat itself.
I, also, want Jennifer to win - and managed to wait it through the busy signals last night and cast my 5 votes for her.
I agree Bristol should leave - she should have left a few weeks back. But last night was really something. Everyone danced so well.
I read this article last night. Thought the remarks of Tom Bergeron interesting, and I have felt much like Erin Andrews - wanting Max to finally win.
I don't really get the whole nastiness toward Bristol. I mean, she's not exuding personality, but she's not a "negative nancy" either. (Kate was exuding personality, but almost 100% negative, I can see heated remarks about her, although I think some of them still become too personal...like people actually know her.) I have loved watching Bristol for a few reasons, but mostly because she seems like the most "normal" person I've ever seen on the show. It's like watching your neighbor learn to dance in front of millions of people. Her courage is great. I don't think I could do it. She dances really well, although I think she should be the one to leave tonight. At this point, I like everyone on the show, and last night was remarkable. I do hope Jennifer wins, though, as she's been my favorite since the first show. :)
Well, she's definitely had sex haha. But, people definitely judge judge judge. You couldn't pay me to be in the middle of a political family. They really get criticized more than anyone. I definitely think she presents herself well, and seems to be a genuine young girl, and quite ordinary...put in an extraordinary situation.
With that being said...I cannot believe tonight's elimination. Very sad, and totally shocked. Oh, well. I'm super rooting for Jennifer Grey, now!
Thanks for not giving it away...I forgot not to read this. I guess I know that Jennifer is in the running but that I figured on....hmmm seems like you were surprised...I hope Brandy didn't get eliminated she is my favorite.
Oh, tonight's result! I am not happy. Grrr. I won't say any more.
I remember a few years back when Sara Evans was one of the "Stars". Thanks to Tom DeLay and his minions, she kept getting voted forward - until she withdrew because of a sudden divorce. Don't remember who was cheating on who in that marriage.
Anyway, it seems that there is a concerted campaign going on now for one particular dancer. I read on another board that there are website links and all.
If that is true - it's so wrong. I would withdraw rather than win like that. Or maybe I'm too old fashioned - thinking one should win on merit
Well, I think the winner ultimately chosen has a lot to do with talent...but a lot to do with fan base, too. There often seems to be one who really doesn't have the talent that manages to get to the finals. It says a lot for their fan base, loyalty is a big deal on this show. I remember when it was Mya vs Donnie Osmond...I wanted Mya to win, but knew Donnie Osmond had a bigger fan base. So, I wasn't completely shocked when he won. Anyway...how long do you have to wait on this thread before you can actually say names? I feel silly beating around the bush. :/
Well, I am in the last time zone at least in the US. Is there even anyone after us in the world?? LOL
I am very upset and angry about tonight. Almost so upset that I don't want to watch the show anymore. And it's not because of who went home, but who didn't. But I will continue to watch, only because it gives me something to talk to my mom about and a co-worker. Plus, it's over soon. Sigh....:(
Well Brandy was my very favorite so I am sorry to see her go. I am not mad, I think Briston has a vulnerability that appealed to the viewers, it did to me, I have a daughter her age and I think she did rise to the occasion. I don't think she was a better dancer than Brandy though obviously.
I understand Bristol is a great person and all, but she is not the best dancer. This is a DANCE competition and it angers me to see people advance just because of popularity. But I guess all of these types of shows are that way. Sigh...why do I even watch them then? Because I'm a TV junkie, that's why! :p
I thought Bristol deserved to be in the semi finals, but not the finals. :/ Her technique is usually really good, her performance is what I think should have sent her home this week. Brandy is a better dancer and performer, I don't think anyone can argue that. But, I don't say too much about any of it, because I have only voted a couple times since I started to watch the show (when Sabrina Bryan was on).
Wow, DWTS has a lot of drama going on lately. Anyone keeping up with the
Facebook rants and the name calling going on with the Palin daughter,Willow?
I don't do Facebook, or any of that type of site. I did hear about that incident - how can we not, it's all over the place. When I see or hear about teens/young kids mouthing off like that, I simply say - consider the source. I know I'm going to sound like an old lady, but if kids today had parents who truly cared and spent quality time with them, I doubt there would be half the crap going on.
I read in the newspaper yesterday that the production company might re-look at the voting process for the show based upon the most recent results.
Oh, gosh no, I don't do Facebook either. I meant that it's hard to avoid
the drama news when it is covered in all the major news outlets.
I was thinking of the strangeness of Palin announcement of a possible
run for the presidency & on the same day her daughter is swearing like a
sailor in a public forum. Strange world we live in.:D
I do facebook but didn't hear anything about this until I read it on pettalk.
I read about it yesterday - at several reputable online news sources.
Apparently Bristol was also involved - shortly thereafter she (Bristol) made a very weak apology.
As I said previously, if parents spent more time quality time with their kids as they are growing up, there would be less of this trash.
Wow, I don't know why I just did this, but I just read the facebook thread. My question is...why are these people friends on facebook if they can't say a nice thing to each other? It's called UnFriend them!!! I'd never have anyone on my facebook that is calling me such names or talking the way these kids do. But I must remember.....they are kids.
I know who won, but I won't say in case anyone doesn't know.
FYI - Bristol's mother wasn't there for the finals. She was in Phoenix - signing books.
I'm sorry, but I think the books could have waited one more day. And I think those fans in Phoenix would have understood.
I couldn't stay up until 11 to watch it. I recorded it, but I went online to see who won. So I know who won and will watch the finale show sometime this weekend. :)
KG is the biggest piece of doo doo on the planet.
LOL, there was nothing on TV last night and I watched her go complainin....
ah camping with Sarah Palin.
Great stuff.
This is really just a joke - right
Quote:
They snagged Tom DeLay and Tucker Carlson, but the producers of "Dancing with the Stars" won't get one politico: the Rev. Al Sharpton.
Sharpton said he’s been asked on several occasions to join the reality show but recently told TMZ: “I just turned them down again.”
"You have to have your priorities," said Sharpton. "It's different taking one night [to do] ‘Saturday Night Live’ and taking weeks to do 'Dancing with the Stars.'"
Besides, said Sharpton, he'd steal the show.
"I got moves! I'd blow them out! There'd be no chance for anybody to touch me. But I just don't have the time."
new cast...
Chelsea Kane, actress
Chris Jericho, wrestler and singer
Hines Ward, football player
Kendra Wilkinson, reality TV personality
Kirstie Alley, actress
Mike Catherwood, radio personality
Petra Nemcova, model
Ralph Macchio, actor
Romeo, actor and recording artist
Sugar Ray Leonard, boxer and speaker
Wendy Williams, talk show host
I only saw a bit of it last week (Sugar Ray's foxtrot) and didn't see it this week at all. I wonder who will win?
My favorites are Hines Ward, Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley. I think the right cast member went home last week. I think it's way to early to say who'll win, but Hines Ward has been the most consistently good so far. My heart is with Ralph Macchio, since I can't remember NOT having a crush on him, though his jive was a little too crazy. Hines was fabulous both nights. He's one of my favorite football players, and he is charming and lovely, and he and Kim (Kym?) are great together! I'd have to say, though, that Kirstie Alley's first dance (I think it was a cha-cha) has been my favorite routine so far.
I haven't watched it at all so far this season. I personally think it's a lousy lineup, so I guess that's why I lost interest. IMO - last year was the best ever. :D
I love Hines Ward - he has such a great smile. Reminds me of Emmitt Smith. I also like Chris Jericho and Ralph Macchio. I think the male contestants are better than the female this time around.
I still have the same three favorites, although Hines Ward is edging Ralph Macchio out of the top spot for me. I LOVE Ralph Macchio, but Hines Ward is magnificent on the dance floor, and that samba last night was fantastic. I couldn't believe it when Maks fell! He and Kirstie Alley are incredible together, I LOVE their chemistry. I don't think I've ever seen Maks laugh as much as he does with Kirstie. Their dance was gorgeous, once they got going.
Did anyone hear anything about one of the pros retiring? I haven't watched the results show all the way through, but I thought I heard them mention on the show that one of the pros was retiring...
I like Hines and Ralph a lot. Only I can't stand Karina! But she should be happy she finally got a good partner. She hasn't had a good one since Mario Lopez.
I also couldn't believe Maks fell. I haven't watched the results show yet either, although I know who left. Maybe Maks is the one retiring.... Let me google and see if I can find out.
Couldn't find anything on it.
I believe that they were talking about the possible retirement of Hines from pro football.
