"but how to be "cool" "calm" and "collected" in front of hundreds of naked people."
I don't know what the "rules" are, but maybe a sheer sarong would give you just enough to make you think you have clothes on, but it's sheer enough to make you look nude. I would think just the feeling of something on would give more confidence.
holy cow... i never thought of that, and that's something i'm gonna have to deal with, lol. I'm guessing wearing shorts or whatever at that time, or a sarong if you are using a tampon??
I know a lot of women just wear sweatpants or sweatshirt shorts cause they are so easy to come off. No undies, no bras... it's all very casual and carefree. That's the one part I am going to LOVE. Who wants to feel all constricted?! ;):p
LOL! That's a good one Candace!
If only I were that skinny!
Had a super chilly weekend at the resort! Gosh, I've never seen so many clothes at a nudist resort than I did this weekend. You did have your odd person out naked, but they had to have been freezing their butt off!
The season opens in 2 weeks and there's a big party at the pool that weekend. I believe it's mother's day weekend, or the weekend after that, May 15 thru the 17th.
I'm hoping to bring my dad up to the resort next weekend to see the cabin and just so he can relax and drink some beers with Dave, lol. I don't think my mom will go along to see the place, but my dad was there before when I worked there and would take the cook that we had out to do things (he didn't drive and was from Philly). The cabin we have there now was actually the cook's cabin back in the day, so it will be nice for my dad to see how much Dave has done to it in the time that has passed (20 years ago my dad visited when I was working there).
Other than that, not too much was going on. Just rain. We did have a little drama. A friend of ours got upset at something her husband did, not sure what happened, but she drove out and left him there on Friday night. I'm hoping all is ok, and that nothing serious happened. So much can go wrong if one person is looking for something, and the other part of the couple is content with the way the relationship is. There are swingers up there, but I don't think that my friend is into that, but not sure what her husband's view is. Hope it all works out ok, I've tried calling, and I did email, so I hope to hear back from her soon. She's like a sister to me, so I worry.
Other than that, no other drama that I heard of.
OMG... I did it!!! I actually did the whole nudist thing on Memorial Day! It was so hot here, and I was just like, the heck with it, and whoooosh! Off it came. I had the day off, so it was nice to be able to relax with friends, and they made me feel really comfortable. I even got tanning hints from my friend Gwen, lol. Spray bottle with water in it, hat to keep sun out of face... how not to get "winkies" (white areas, wrinkle/fold areas of skin that don't get tan)... it was a hoot!
I am just amazed I did it. Whooo hooo me!!!
Good for you, glad you had a good time!
I just had a thought. When my friends and I get together for social occasions, we take photos. Do these gatherings have photographers there? I would think that wouldn't be appropriate but just thought I'd ask.
About photography....
If you are at a private party, hosted at someone's place, and if they allow photography, it's ok.
For the resort itself, if you are out in the open, at the pool, volleyball court, etc... photography and even sometimes cell phones (cause they have cams in them) are not allowed. I've been told that the resort is allowed to confiscate your cell phone if they think that you are covertly (or overtly) taking pics out in the open.
I know I wouldn't want nude photos of me on someone's camera. Lord knows what problems those could cause in the hands of the wrong people/person. Even if the scenario is innocent, if you're in the nude, it can be construed as anything but.
Clothed man sparks riot at orgy
A man who refused to take his clothes off at a raunchy party has been blamed for a mini-riot at an Australian nudist resort.
Police were called amid threats of violence and ordered the Brisbane man and his wife to leave the "anything goes" sex party, reports the Courier-Mail.
It happened at the White Cockatoo resort, near Port Douglas, Queensland, which is promoting a month of hedonism to boost sagging tourism figures.
Owner Tony Fox said the "mini-riot" erupted when four naked female guests protested when confronted by the fully-clothed man.
"They felt uncomfortable with him eyeing them up and I asked him to show some respect and take his clothes off," he said.
"He then threatened to bash me, there was some argy-bargy and I ordered him off the premises and police were called."
--------------------------------------
What's an argy-bargy and LOL at the resort name.
I have a great joke but I have to pass.:D
Just had to tell you guys about the most hysterical game we played at the resort yesterday. We have game night on Sundays from 6-8pm and the last few weeks it was things like "Friendly Feud" and other game show like games. This week we played something called "Testical Toss", and it was a RIOT!!!
You take a bungee like cord, about 1 to 1 1/2 ft long and you attach a golf ball to each end with hot glue (or you can buy them at any sporting goods store, but I forget what they actually call the game... :p We renamed it for Sunny Rest Recreation, lol).
There are these hurdle type things set up at either end of a grassy area, about the length apart if you were playing a game of horse shoes. You hold the one ball and you toss the rope, other golf ball end first, and you try to wrap it around the wrungs on the hurdle. There are 3 rungs, top being 3 pts, middle 2 points, bottom 1 point. We played to 21. OMG... it was hysterical. Till you got the feel of what you were doing, sometimes we have testicals going in bushes, some behind benches, almost hitting other members, lol. It was just hysterical.
Dave and I actually won one game, but when we went against the people who actaully brought the game to the resort, we lost :( Figures, lol. They had unfair advantage I think!
HERE'S THE GAME, called ROPE TOSS Click on the picture to enlarge it to see the ropes with the balls on the ends to get a better feel of how they look!
So, it was a good weekend. We went to Philly for the day on Saturday, visited the Adventure Aquarium in Camden NJ as well. The kids were worn out, and we were beat. I was sun burned again!!! I wore sunscreen too. Then to make the day end just peachy, we get back to the car, and here I forgot to turn the ignition all the way off. I had a dead battery. :o:( Thankfully, we met some really nice parking valets across the street, and they came and got the jumper cables from their office and jumped my car, so we didn't have to wait or get a tow truck to come and do anything. Whew!!! I was stressing. I had JUST decided to not to renew my AAA, and of course it comes back to bite me in the butt! Typical.
Sunday was a beautiful day. Some clouds here and there, but mostly nice, plus we played that game and socialized more. We had a weenie roast over a fire by the pool, then made smores. It was a really good time!!
Jenn, you scare me when you mention a "weenie roast" at that camp..... :D
Thought I'd check in and let you guys know how all is going.
Can I just say I'm enjoying this so much more than I thought I would. I'm feeling extremely comfortable with myself in the buff, even if I don't look the way I'd like myself to look. I've been having so much fun, meeting tons of people, and just relaxing. It's actually so relaxing to be nude. I would never have imagined it!!
I'm also extremely tan, lol, and it's only July 1st. My hair stylist, who also waxes my legs for me, is just floored. She can't believe how tan I am, because I've never been into tanning like this. It's almost impossible to not be tan in this environment. I wear sunscreen (have a variety from 12 to 90 spf). I did goof up one day and forgot to put sunscreen on my face. Ouch. I'm still peeling from that goof last week.
But yeah, it's been fun and I'm just so enjoying the whole experience. Even Dave said "you're really embracing the whole nudism thing, aren't you?" That was after him coming home from work and finding me on the deck of a guy who I'm not close friends with, but we had hung out all day at the pool and talked and there was a thunderstorm so we went back to his place to get out of the rain and BBQ. He's about 6' 3" tall, tattooed all over his body, has a long gray pony tail, and can be a bit of an intimidating figure when you throw in the Vietnam Vet status and that he's on disability for trying to kill his one co-worker by putting him through a machine that breaks down cardboard boxes... :O How did I get to his place? On the back of his ATV. Naked. LOL. So, yeah, I'm getting quite comfortable. Where else can you hang out on a relative stranger's deck, naked and chat and grill on the bbq?!
We're going to a 4th of July party this weekend, so that should be fun. We're signed up to take wine and a dessert. Fireworks up at Sunny Rest are supposed to be really great, so the whole weekend should be pretty much a party. Dave's girls will be up for the fireworks, but I think he's taking them home after that because the weekend is just supposed to be really busy and wild... want to shield the kids from a lot of that.
I'm getting really close with his kids, which is great. I absolutely love them. We've been talking about moving in together, and fixing up my 3rd floor to suit the girls so they each have their own bedroom. It's in disarray right now from when my friend lived there, so it needs to be fixed up. The girls will be thrilled to have their own rooms, since right now they sleep on an air mattress in the library when they stay down here overnight.
I think that's all that's been going on on this end. I'm down to 5 cats. I took my one pee-er, Furbee, back to the shelter. My cat sitter had a melt down about so much pee to clean up and honestly, I had had it myself. So Furbee, my last foster, is back in the shelter. I still have one or two others that are peeing, so I'm going to set up a camera to see who is doing it (just got it the other day).
I'll update more when things are in full swing later this month. Things are just getting geared up, and people are finally coming in droves to the resort. We needed some dry weekends and sun, sun, sun!!!
That's great news! I hope you had a good time this weekend. :D
Why do I have so much laundry to do when I'm a nudist?! :p;)
Went to my first summer party this past weekend. It was sponsored by most of the people camping/living in Section D of Sunny Rest. We call that area D Block. So this was D Block's D' Party of D' Year! What a riot!!! There was a theme to the party, and it was called ABC - Anything But Clothes, lol. So many costumes and funny outfits put together. Lots of pics were taken by people there (at private parties they are allowed, if the person being photographed is ok with it). I didn't take any pics, just people watched.
We had people wrapped in Saran Wrap, in "Emergency" "Do Not Cross Tape" and other yellow and black warning tapes. There were people in racy costumes of cowboys and indians. One guy is a Navy cop or something, and he came in his flak jacket, with his holster (but a fake gun), and had his wife handcuffed to him. She was dressed up as a "dime store whore" (her words). We had people with For Sale and For Rent signs around their middles, one woman wore aluminum foil and it looked terribly uncomfortable! Another guy made a set of shorts out of baggies and duct tape, lol, it was really cute!!
So what did Dave and I go as?? LOL... I'm so not a costume person.. let me just say that first. We ended up just going as is. No clothes. It did say on the invite you can just come as a Sunny Rest Nudist if you wanted to, so that's what we did. Maybe next year it will be a funny theme and we can dress up then.
It was most fun watching the interaction of everyone there, talking to everyone, and drinking the "trash can punch". Oh my!! That stuff was potent!! It was this 30 gallon, or larger, trash can that was filled with fruit punch, fresh fruits, and then tons of liquors. It tasted yummy, but knocked you on your butt really quickly. We had people singing karaoke and just being totally silly. One woman sang a Zeppelin song, and omg, she was AMAZING!!! She was totally nude, except for a leather thong, and had this gorgeous long hair, and she just wailed out this Zeppelin song. Everyone was just blown away. Some of the people were really bad at singing, but by 8pm (party started at around 2pm), no one really cared, and we all just sang along and danced, lol.
One activity I didn't do was the ice block. There is this huge block of ice that they have 2 tunnels going through (one on the left, one on the right), and normally what you do is choose your alcohol and they will pour a shot's worth of booze down the tunnel you choose and you suck it up at the bottom. The ice is on a sloping wood stand, so you have to kneel to get the shot. Normally, the women rub their boobs on the ice and the guys get their butts smacked by all the women standing around the ice block. Yeah. I guess I have a different version of the word "fun", lol. I think theirs is more exhibitionist. It was not for me, not that you have to rub your boobs on the ice, but still... I like to just blend in to the crowd, so doing that was not blending, lol.
Dave and I headed down to take care of the kids way before the night was over. We heard it was still going on strong late into the night, and the one guy we talked to yesterday (Monday) said he just drank the last of the punch that day... and the party was on Saturday, lol.
Crazy, crazy times!!!
It sounds like you're having a wonderful time and fitting in just fine - good for you! I thought it was telling a couple of posts back when you said "Why do I have so much laundry to do when I'm a nudist?! " - I think that was the first time you referred to yourself with the actual word! ;)
In any case, I have been at parties with the ice block - it was called a "booze luge". I didn't participate, either. :)
Here's a question. Do you wear clothes in the car on the way over to the party? Or is it just that because you have to live in the resort, you wouldn't have the possibility of being pulled over for speeding?
The party took place within the resort, so we just walked there nude. Most people have golf carts or 4 wheelers to get around within the resort instead of using their cars to get around due to the lack of parking.
I have heard of some people saying that they drove to Sunny Rest nude, so I guess they didn't care or didn't worry about getting stopped at some point during their trip, lol. One couple said they drove through a few states nude, and the woman just put on a dress to go into the mini markets and stuff when they had to get out... pretty smart thinking there.
Sunny Rest had been a licensed airport at one time (small planes), and there have been stories from back then about people landing their planes and getting out of them nude, lol.
You have to watch and listen to this song, that was written and sung by our friend, and "in house" resort musician, Mike. No nudity, so don't worry (or you can be disappointed, lol). Well... there is nudity, but they stop panning the video at Mike's waist, lol. Be happy about that one, cause otherwise I wouldn't be able to post it!
Let me know what you think about "Gonna be Naked all Summer at Sunny Rest".
Hope you are all relaxed and happy and enjoying your summer like I am!!
:) Cute Song..
Only ONE comment on the song and video?! You guys are so not fun!! :(:p
Comments are what make this amusing... ;)
I'll comment when you come to the party! ;)
You have to understand, I have dial up at home - where everything takes forever - so the only option is to view at work (which I just did) and I have to be VERY DISCREET about it. I didn't know what it was going to be like!
Hey Jennie! It's your musician friend Mike From Sunny Rest. I was getting a lot of hits on the video from Pet of the Day, so I came over to investigate. It took me a long time to find your thread, and I enjoyed reading your accounts of your Sunny Rest experience!
BTW, I have an Australian Cattle Dog (blue heeler) named "Chase"

Awwww... Hi Mike!!! Welcome to Pet Talk!!
BTW... I was "glad" about the video stopping at your waist otherwise I wouldn't have been able to link it. Just so you know it wasn't a "mean" comment. We have to have everything above boards here on Pet Talk cause it's a family site.
Wellllllll...... it's been a busy busy week at Sunny Rest!!
Last weekend was the annual cardboard boat regatta. It was a hoot! There were 10 groups that made cardboard boats and paddled them across the pool. Most looked like your typical cardboard boats with tons of duct tape, but the real amazing one, that actually won a bunch of times, was shaped like a Christmas tree, lol. They were the "Christmas in August" people, and it had garland and balls, and all kinds of stuff on it. Everyone on their team had something red or green or Christmas themed on. It was cute and funny and a riot to watch them. The team that won were the Pink Ladies, and they were sailing their boat for breast cancer awareness. It had pink feather boas stapled to the sides and all kinds of cute pink stuff to decorate it, but they also had the pink ribbons and all that on the boat.
The other fun stuff this week has been watching my boyfriend and his friends do roofing over one of the campers up there. The camper belongs to a woman named SnowWhite (yes.... that's what I said, lol), and she has been having problems with her roof leaking. So, Dave and his buddy Kenny have been building a connecting roof between two separate roofs on over her camper and addition. It's hard work, but they're doing a great job. It's been SOOOOO hot up here, the guys are just baked by the end of the day.
One of our other friends has been doing painting, and he's been our cook for our breaks. He's amazing!!!! We supply him with the food, and he makes it how he thinks it will be good. He made a roast the one night, OMG, it was to die for! It was a marinated roast, he drained it, then smothered it in olive oil and garlic, then he rolled it in COFFEE GROUNDS! Seriously! He put it over the hottest the grill could go, and seared it on each side for 5 to 10 minutes to carbonize the coffee grounds, and then took it off the high heat and let it cook for another 45 minutes until about 80% done. After that he sliced it and made it "cooked to order". Some wanted well done, while I wanted mine medium rare. It was just out of this world delicious!!!
On other fronts (and backs) I'm getting super tanned. I'm still not what you'd call golden brown, but it's more of a reddish brown because of my skin tone. I got a little too much yesterday, it was just clear skies and really hot, and I wasn't even laying out for that long. I was at the pool, laid out there for a while, then was in the pool, then decided to have a salad and go up to see how the men were doing with the roof. They decided to name themselves the Mountain Oyster Boys, Inc.:p. Like I should be surprised, lol. They are so goofy. I read my book most of the time, because between you and me, you can only watch men's janglies for so long before it gets boring, or you go "Yeouch!! Watch that hammer!!!"
This weekend one of Dave's friend's is coming up with his girlfriend, so it will be interesting to see how that goes. I don't know this guy at all, but it's someone Dave worked with in his laborers' union.
Gotta get back to doing some wash. Not too much to do, lol, but have some shorts and tshirts that need to be freshened up. Things get musty smelling at the cabin, or they end up smelling smoky from being at the night club and the bar. Not my favorite smell in the world (I hate the smell of cigarettes). Will let you guys know of any other fun stuff that happens in the next week!!!
Well, it's the last weekend of the season, and I'm amazed at how quickly it all went by. I keep thinking about how nervous I was and what I should or should not wear, lol, and looking backing on it, it really makes me laugh. I still do worry about what to wear, but it's in context with what is going on up there (theme nights at the night club), or if it's going to be chilly, then what should I bring with me.
I'm going to try to get some pics of the place this weekend before everyone is awake and so you can see what the resort looks like without people running around, because it's a green, woodsy place to be and it's so relaxing. Have to remember to charge my camera battery and hope to not catch anyone while they are taking a morning walk, lol.
This summer really changed me. It made me realize what is important and what is not so important. That I can be relaxed just being me, and not worrying about what other people are thinking (although that crossed my mind now and again... but that's normal). I'm so much more at ease with myself. I think that's the biggest gain of all. I still want to lose weight, and I'm still dieting, but I'm much more comfortable with my body, and that's a huge deal for me.
Anyway, just thought I'd post this small thing before I went away for the weekend and had some time to think about what I wanted to say. I'll post pics later next week of the resort if I can get some good ones. It's really a lovely place to go.
BTW... if anyone, besides the person who just PM'd me, is tired of this thread and it's "non-sense", I'm sorry... it's just been such a neat experience, and I wanted to share it. Like I said, it's the end of the season, so it will be over soon, lol.
Thanks Dan. I want to hug you! (((((((HUG)))))))
I have really enjoyed reading about your experience and the transformation you've gone through in your life. Whether anyone agrees or doesn't agree with the specifics of this thread, is up to them. But I have definitely found it enlightening from the growth as a person point of view.
Jenn, your posts have been a lot of fun in this thread, tell that person to lighten up. We were actually talking about this type of thing (among other things) at the gathering, how some of us enjoy the lighthearted so. As far as I'm concerned, you need something to balance out the unfortunate realities some are dealing with in the health of their pets, which is so important to discuss. It gives us another window into the personalities as well. It's been a great summer with you and your friends!
