Karen & Paul, I am so sorry to hear our sweet bunny girl is ill. I am just seeing this as I have been having major internet problems for about 2 weeks or so. Net wouldn't stay connected for more than about 10 minutes at a time. :(
Long distance prayers and good thoughts coming from all of us in Italy. We are hoping for some sound results today from Miss Hoppy's ultrasound so a course of action can be decided. All fingers, toes, paws and whiskers crossed that she can beat this.
((((HUGS)))) to you both and a nose scritchie for Miss Hoppy (the kind she likes best).

Wow ten years old. She is quite old. I will be praying for Miss Hoppy. She sounds like a little fighter.
I hope Miss Hoppy feels better.
Prayers on the way from me and the cat kids today for PTs bunny!
We just got back from the vet's office. The ultrasound showed no heart disease, which is a good thing, but the thymoma was confirmed, which is not so good.
But as Miss Hoppy is ten years old, and the only current option is surgery, there's nothing medically to be done about the tumor. Dr. Hartman, (nice lady, she's been Miss Hoppy's vet for ten years!) who said, "Well, at her age, she's sorta past her expiration date anyway," said she wouldn't want to risk Miss Hoppy not even surviving the anesthesia. She will consult with other rabbit vets, and offered me the choice of having a consult with Angel Memorial or Tufts if we wanted to go ahead with the surgery. But the surgery is major, even if she survived the anesthesia, then they'd have to crack open her chest ...
The okay news is thymomas are not very active tumors, and it could stay the same size for years.
She said, "Because of her age, you might want to do nothing, but count every day your bunny is with you as a blessing anyway."
When I told her people were praying for Miss Hoppy all over the world, Dr. Hartman said "Awwwww!"
Thanks everyone for your prayers. Miss Hoppy is glad to be home, and is munching a treat in the kitchen.
I think it's good not to operate, because our furry friends don't understand what's going on and then they have fear and discomfort. All you can do at this point is enjoy each other's company as long as you can.
I will continue to pray for many, many pain free days for Miss Hoppy!!!
I will continue my prayers for many more happy hoppy yearas with Miss Hoppy! She is such a cutie! PT prayers work wonders!
Miss Hoppy will continue to be in my prayers too.
Wishing and hopping that this tumor stay "put" for time to come.Quote:

:( Oh No I am just now seeing this about Miss Hoppy.. Sending Plenty of Good Vibes & Huggss & Prayers from our household to Miss Hoppy..
Hoping and praying the tumor stays small so Miss Hoppy can enjoy many more years to come.
Oh Karen, LH just told me about Miss Hoppy and about the thread. (We heard from Pa today) I will say prayers for you and her. I hope there is some way to help her.
Fingers and paws crossed that this is exactly what will happen. Bunny pats to you, Miss Hoppy!Quote:

Dear Karen and Paul,
I'm sad the news isn't better for Miss Hoppy and wish her many more happy days with you. The fact that she has already reached a grand age for a little bun is encouraging; it only means she has had the best care. I pray that tumor stays intact. Please give her a gentle hug from me and a few bunnie kisses too :)
Here's hoping Miss Hoppy is with you for quite a few more years. :)
I'm sorry that she can't have the operation. Let's all hope that the tumor stays inactive. I hope you've got many years left with that sweet bunny. I'm sure she is very happy to be back home. When I was a kid I had a bunny. He loved to be held like a baby and petted between the ears. So, please give Miss Hoppy some gentle pets between her ears from me.
Well, if it took the thymoma this long to give Miss Hoppy any symptoms, I hope that means it ain't gonna grow no bigger! :)
No medical treatment, you said - so no prednisone to just make the tumour a bit smaller? Not a cure at all, but maybe more comfort.
I just wish Miss Hoppy many more treat-munching days. She is in the best hands anywhere!
Stay well, Miss Hoppy
No, the thymoma is a solid mass, prednisone wouldn't have any effect. I also asked about sucking some of it out with a needle biopsy, but the vet said that doesn't work with a solid tumor like it might with a more fluid-filled one.Quote:

Thanks for the update. I hope that Miss Hoppy's tumor won't continue to grow and get any larger. She'll remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Karen, I will be keeping you, Paul and Miss Hoppy in my thoughts. It's amazing how those little creatures just grab onto your heart and you just fall in love with every aspect. Assuming Miss Hoppy is anything like my bunnies I'm sure she is a feisty, opinionated gal. All the feistness and zest for life they have makes every moment spent with them something truly special. I hope that Miss Hoppy will continue to live happy and healthy with you for many more years.
(((hugs)))
Ashley
I'll continue to keep Miss Hoppy in my prayers, Karen. Hope that old tumor stays the same size, and doesn't grow anymore.
Willie
I hope our adorable little mascot stays just the way she is for a while yet. We will send all our positive thoughts her way.
*sigh* At least it isn't an aggressive tumor and the vet is consulting with other specialists.
Give Miss Hoppy some in-between ear scritchies for me... or some clover... which ever she'd prefer ;)
With all the prayers for Miss Hoppy for her tumor to go dormant surely it will. I pray that you have many more years with her and that her health remains just as it is. Kisses for Miss Hoppy!
Hi Karen, it has been a long time since I have posted...been deployed. When I logged on I was so sad to hear about Miss Hoppy! You and Daiseylover were one of the first "friends" I had that helped immensely with me as a new bunny mom! :) All prayers to Miss Hoppy and I will be checking for updates.
Jackie
I hope the tumor stays inactive and you'll will be able to enjoy Miss Hoppy's company for a long while yet. I'm glad to hear she doesn't seem to be in pain.
Sending positive thoughts - please give her some nosekisses from us.
I'll continue to keep Miss Hoppy in my prayers!
Thanks, everyone. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers.
Karen - I am glad that the tumor is not an active type and that she does not even know that anything is wrong with her! I am hoping that you have lots and lots more time with Miss Hoppy!
Hoping miss Hoppy has many more happy years I definetely think you are doing the right thing, no need to put her through all that and risk her life at the same time.
Could we request Miss Hoppy pics? You know we'd love to see some.

Not that she's ever a willing photographer's model!
Thinking of you and Miss Hoppy! I hope you have many more happy years with her!
Hug and kiss her for us, please. I'm glad she doesn't face a major surgery. She needs to live out her life, just like she always has, Karen, with love and dignity. :) And lots of Parsley and Carrots, for sure!!!!!! :D
Love and prayers.
