Thank you all. Two weeks ago tonight since we lost Mandy. :( It doesn't seem to get any easier. I go all day and be strong, but in the evening, it's so hard. Knowing Lacey misses her is so heartbreaking. Twice now I have found her barking at the back door, at nothing, she must think Mandy is back. :( Missy misses her too, they were very close. Sassy doesn't seem too bothered about it, but I'm sure she wonders where Mandy is.

Well time passes on. I still miss Mandy and cry everynight. Lacey is clinging to us. Missy is the one I'm really worried about. She still looks for Mandy. This morning I found her staring at Mandys toy box full of stuffies. :(

Once again I thank everyone for their kindness. Doesn't seem to get much easier but I'm sure I will find peace someday. So many people don't seem to care past saying 'sorry about your dog". :( Meanwhile it's great friends on PT that help keep me going.
Here is a picture of a mousepad Kay(Kfamr) had sent to me. Flamepony12(Devon) drew the picture of Mandy. I thank them both and I really love the mousepad, any reminder that Mandy is at the Rainbow Bridge is a comfort to me. :)

It still seems odd to me that Mandy is no longer with us. The mousepad is lovely and it was very nice of both Kay and Devon to think of you and your sweet Mandy. You will learn to live with the pain and emptiness so that it becomes just an ache. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers.

I still tear up when i reread this thread. Please excuse me for not posting before.Sometimes, I get so sick and depressed over a loss of a PT pet, I have to compose myself. My beloved Cody's been gone for 3 years and I still dream and think about him. I even call Logan "Cody" by accident. His special toys, leashes, collars are securely packed away. A lovely work of art by Amy (Wolf Q) is hanging on my living room wall. My emergency vet was just as comforting and sweet and it made a big difference. The pain of loss eventually eases. but never goes away.
Please find comfort knowing you did what you had to, having done the very best you could. May you be blessed with some peace and serenity and happy, forever memories.
Oh Karen, no problem that it took you a while, your kind words are a comfort to me even now. Yesterday was a month, a whole month with my baby gone. :( I wanted to post but couldn't, needless to say , I had a really bad day yesterday.
At least now I can look at pictures of Mandy and smile while I'm crying. Lacey seems to realize that Mandy is gone and not as scared as she was. Missy still watches sometimes when I bring Lacey in from outside as if she thinks Mandy could be outside all this time. :(
I know in time I will think of the happy memories and not so much the pain of loss, but it may be a while...

It's nice to finally get to the point where you can smile when you look at the pictures, even if you cry when you do it.
It's also nice to see Lacey & Misty laying together like that. It must be a welcoming sight.
The mousepad is wonderful. Will you use it?
I have one that Michelle (captain) made for me of Angus but I can't bring myself to use it. I just have it laying on the desk for me to look at.

:eek: oh, I just saw this. I'm so so sorry, Mandy was such a beautiful girl! Nothing ever quite fills the empty space in your heart when your dear one leaves, but she'll be with you in spirit forever. I swear that sometimes I feel like my Rosie is right next to me, even thought she's been gone for 2 1/2 years now. (((hugs)))
A few months have went by since I lost my sweet Mandy. I don't think the ache in my heart will ever leave me. She was truly my little buddy. Mandy slept either with me on the bed or beside me on the floor. I would go to sleep each night petting her and talking to her. :( Every shower she was in the bathroom with me, each morning getting ready for work there she was. She would even 'hurry' me to the bathroom to put my makeup on when she knew it was time for work and at night when it was bedtime. I'd tell her "don't hurry me". If she felt she needed a treat she would sit by the treat cupboard forever until she got one. Her stuffies (bunnies they were all called) lay quiet and still in her toy box, no squeaking. :(
The house seems so quiet and empty without her. Lacey seems lonely. I knew Mandy wouldn't live a full life. She lived much longer than expected. But 5 years isn't enough, she was still a baby. :( What I would give to hold her one more time...we love you and miss you Mandy.

I was surprised to hear that it was two months already. It doesn't seem that long ago since hearing stories about that sweet little girl. You are right five years is not long enough, but Mandy had so much love and happiness in that five years that she has a lot to share with the other pups at the bridge who were not as fortunate here on Earth.

Mandy, fall is here, your time of year. It's cooler and the leaves are falling. How I wish you were still here. These colder nights I would be snuggling up to my big chocolate bear. We got a new puppy, she keeps us busy and has brought happiness back into our lives. Lacey needed a friend and I was just too depressed having lost you. But your absence is still felt every day. So many memories of you all around us, we know you are here with us in spirit. Some days I still can't believe you are gone, like it's just a nightmare and I will wake up. I know you are healthy now and running and playing, and I am happy for that. But I still miss you so... :(
I am so sorry I missed this. I know how much pain you must be feeling right now. Know that sweet Mandy will be safe. Recently departed Diogi will guard her and keep her company until you can be together again. There will always be a special place in your heart for her.

My beloved Cody has been at the Bridge for 3 years now, and not a day goes by that I don't say his name, think of him with unending love, laugh at the fun memories. It will take time for the pain to subside, but it will become more bearable, knowing that there is no more pain and that Mandy is free and healthy and happy and with oodles of friends.
Remember, you have not replaced her and never will. You opened your heart to another pup who also needed your love. Mandy is proud and happy for you. She'd never want you sad; she loved you back with all her doggy heart.The most unselfish, noble thing you can do is release the suffering. Sending you {HUGS} of understanding and support.

I think it's hardest when those seasons roll around that hold especially sweet memories. The miracle of PT is that we come to feel like every dog here is a little bit "ours". I miss your Mandy, too. I hope she and my RB Rosie are racing all around heaven together, crunching through the leaves and smiling their beautiful doggie grins.

I appreciate everyones thoughtful replies.... Five years ago today, Halloween, we had a little party, for Halloween and to celebrate Mandys 5 mo birthday. (A pup never had so many birthdays.) In October that year we took Mandy to a vet specialist in Cleveland and then to Ohio State University. We were told nothing could be done to fix her heart. Cleveland told us she may not live a year (hence the 5 mo birthday party) OSU told us to hope for three years. Mandy, you proved them all wrong by celebrating your 5th birthday just before you died.
Everynight when I'm out with Lacey and Layla I look up at the heavens and tell you to run Mandy run, something you couldn't do here on earth. How hard this fall and winter season and the holidays will be without you here with us. :( But I always feel you are near. It doesn't get much easier. I still miss you so...
