They are such beautiful cats! All three look cozy and happy. I love Princess Shadow's coloring (I have a *thing* for calicos). Tucker looks so cute all wrapped up. And Clayton...how could someone do something so horrible to such a cutie!! What a great fur family you have!
Clayton is one handsome boy! All dressed for a formal occasion.
Good for you adopting adult cats. My first cat, Cardamom (RB) was five years old when I adopted her. I got Don Juan when he was about 18 months old, and Zerlina at one year. Don't know what I'd do with a baby.

Jen,
Did the picture of my Morgan come thru? if not let me know.. he is a sweet sweet boy. I am such a proud momma of 4 of the most beautiful and handsome fur children that have ever been made. How could one person be so blest.
Deb
Hi DJ's Mom,
Morgan is laying on all his blankets next to my monitor snoring like a champ with one paw draped over his eyes. Ohh he moved...too cute for words.
I love adopting adult cats. I LOVE Kittens too.. but I adore adults. Our SPCA is a NO KILL shelter and all of our fur children have been adopted form there. PLUS I volunteer there so I have the added advantage of getting to know my fur children before I adopt them. I know their like sand dislikes their quirks etc, and I am not a stranger to them when they come home. It has been more of a challenge adopting all adults and having them all get along but they work it out.
I have been feeding a precious stray for months. I Have named him (at least I THINK it's a him)Reilly. I can't get too close but every morning he is waiting in the driveway for his breakfast. As soon as it is served he comes and eats. He sometimes sleeps on the basement walkout slab. I Have made a little shelter for him an dplaced it under the deck. I have no idea if he uses it but it is there. It has clean kinens and towels in it and would keep him warm and dry.
Please send him good thoughts and energy that I gain his trust.
Deb
Got the pic! He's adorable :D I'll send good wishes to your stray!
Thank you SO Much Jen.
I have named him Reilly.
Every morning he waitis under my hubby's truck or the corner of the driveway. My heart breaks for him. I can't get close enough to him to get a really good look but he also looks like he might be blind in his right eye. I could be wrong but it looks "weird". I'll be a mess when winter comes and this child is still outside.
My husband says that I can't save them all. Why not? I can try.
deb
LOL that sounds like my father AND my husband. It must be a man thing. Maybe we can't save EVERY animal, but we can at least help some! :)
Kneeding is very normal and I melt every time any of my cats do that with me. I would love to have them do it reguarly - its a very special feeling to know your cats are happy and content and come to you to show it.
Pouncer used to wake me up every morning while kneeding me. Sigh... what I wouldn't give to be woken up like that anymore.
All my cats have their claws and never use them while kneeding -- its not practical for them to do so. As kittens they kneed to produce milk from their mother. If the needled her with their claws, she'd jump back and they'd never get milk. Sometimes they might accidentally claw you, but then you know you need to trim their nails.
If you want to perhaps move your kitty to a less sensitive location, try encouraging them to use your leg or tummy while you are under a thick blanket. Or give them a nice big stuffed animal to be happy with. One of my cats loves to kneed big blankets. He goes nuts.
Ohhh I know how you feel! Last night at 2am when I was sitting in the driveway with my little stray(I named him "Poor Little Thing" for now) waiting for him to finish eating, and noticing all the new wounds and missing hair, I was thinking about what I'll be like this winter with him. I cant get closer than 3 feet away or he'll run. I tried earlier to touch him and was bitten quite badly! I can tell he's a very sweet kitten by nature, just very scared and wild still. So, I just sit out in my driveway in the middle of the night and purr, meow, and baby-talk to him yet:rolleyes:Quote:

Hi JenSen,
I know how you feel.
My heart is breaking for my little stray Reilly.
I too cannot get close enough to him to see anything. His right looks weird.. perhaps a white opaque like covering.. but again.. I can't get close enough to see.
I talk softly to him ... tell him I love him....not to be afraid and that I am here.
What scraes me is not only does he eat from this bowl but a neighbor's cat does as well who I KNOW is vaccinated regularly.. but I have other wild fur children that I Have seen eating fromt the bowl... like our groundhogs and Raccoons. I wish I could take him to my vet an dhave her check him from head to toe.....
I noticed him last winter.. an dhave been feeding him since then.
DEar Lord.. what will we do with these poor angels that are left in the cold. How can humans be so heartless and uncaring?
Blessings,
Deb
Hi Cat Napper,
None of my other fur child knead me like Morgan.
I think becasue I am a volunteer at out SPCA and I knew him before I brought him home helped forge that bond. I think he also knows that this is his forever home.
He hops on and off the bed at all hours.. and grabs my PJ topin his teeth and starts kneeding away. Then hops off. When my husband wakes up in the morning there is Morgan ( 14 pounds ) sounds asleep across the top of my pillow and I have maybe 1/64 space. He's my latest fur son and has had the hardest being hit by the car last July and had a shattered leg in 5 places.
I cannot even begin to describe to all of you how much I love and adore my fur babies. How blest can one person be to have 4 adults chose her to be their Momma.
Deb
Jen BKR!
I'll tell you what though.... try and take any one of these 4 away and watch my husband's feather get ruffled. He loves them all and they adore their Daddy. He is resigned to the fact that because I am a SPCA volunteer I am always going to be bringing somebody home.
OH JEN! I Have to tell you... Tucker is the baby.. he is the orange/white tabby with a face that could melt stone. He just had his 2nd birthday in April.
Anyway he is a pistol. I have a very dear friend that is an Animal Communicator..... Tucker likes to "help Momma" sometimes and if he sees me on the "round water box" then he wants to help me out and hops into the bathroom sink and wizzie tinkles. He then looks at me like see Momma I helped!
Lord have mercy...... This morning I was in the bathroom.. doing my duty... he walks in... ALWAYS HAS to come in and help me... he likes to make sure I Know what I am doing......anyway... he looks at me.... then walks into the shower..... goes directly to the drain and squats. Looks at me so proud and walks out.
I told my husband who sais well at least he goes in the shower and sink where we can clean it.. better there then the carpet!
My friend that is the AC said that Tucker is insistent that he is HELPING MOMMA>.. because I won;t have to clean the box as much. She tried to explain to him that I have to clean the boxes anyway... he says no he is helping. When Momma is on the round water box an dhe is there.. he will"help".
THat's my boy.
:D

I'm worried about other animals eating from the same bowl also, but sometimes he wont come out and eat if I'm around no matter how hungry he is! And he only comes last at night, and I cant stay up waiting for him to finish the food to take the bowl away.I have given him a wormer and antiboiotic from the vet mixed with canned food, so I can relax about him speading worms or a respiratory virus, but who knows what else is wrong with him! I didnt get any infection at all when he bit me, and it was deep enough to cause an illness! So, I feel better about that too...almost releived he did bit me, because it all healed nicely and quickly. It was kind of like a illness test, LOL!Quote:

WELCOME to you both,
In my house we call this making biscuts, My oldest Maggi does this and still tries to nurse, My youngest Stormi does it to my tummy every night before bed. As stated above this is the way they relax and tell you that they are happy. Most meowmies do not even get this privilage you should consider yourself lucky. Alot of us here on PT would love for this to be a habit in our house.
Good luck to you both
