I'm very pleased to hear Honeybun is doing well, except for the URI. Those FIV boys can be really tough and bounce back again and again. My Raven is 18 and FIV+ and his recent geriatric blood panel was perfect also.
I had to laugh about Honeybun's response to imminent pilling. It's frustrating when they make it look like it's going to be fairly easy and then throw you off balance.
When Honeybun limps, is it after rest? Challenge did that until he was put on Cosequin. The vet said it's usually arthritis when the limp appears after rest and then becomes far less noticeable after movement. Good idea to take a video.
I'm amazed with all your experience you haven't had to give sub-q's before. Get used to it because it's an absolute life-saver, makes a cat feel much better, and improves appetite. I always tell a vet when I've given sub-q fluids before a visit (for instance when a URI gets worse overnight but not life-threatening) and they've always said that's great.
