An yeah, Doc Mike an Doc Lisa boff sed sum Kat's jest keep pluggin up no matter WHAT they eat :(. They figgered Bootsy wuz wunna those Kats an it wuz better for him to have hiz plummin re-plummed stedda havin to keep gettin un-plugged an flushed so offin.

Fister, I'm so sorry to hear that you have bladder problems again. :( I sure hope that the vet can fix you up this time and that you'll make a speedy recovery. All fingers and paws are crossed here. Good luck. :)

I think I may have spoken too soon - about Fister getting back to normal. All right, he was trying to crawl around last night and managed to get into his new bed - Will power! At 2.15 AM he even managed to jump up on my pillow and lay there for a while, then over to John, but he was asleep! He gave up and crawled back under the bed. Then at 4 AM he gave it another try, this time he woke John up and stayed with him the rest of the night under his eiderdown. No more sleep for him!

I was afraid that he would try and get up in the windowsill, so I'd piled lots of towels up in case he should fall down. When I got up, he was sitting on the the pile of towels in the kitchen, looking very miserable. :( He hadn't eaten or drunk anything. I filled a syringe with water and squirted it into him and also stuffed a painkiller down, before going to the dentist.

John got up and carried him into the bed and had a cuddle and then called the vet and explained the situation, he could only say: Don't worry, he'll come round later!

I'm back and he's still looking sad and miserable, so I've given him some more water. Now and again, he goes (yes, he can walk a little) and has a look at his food, but hasn't eaten anything yet!

The results have come and it appears that he has no bacteria in his bladder. This is not good! So if he blocks up again, the only real solution would be to have the operation. :(

Before it gets to that stage, we'll try and find a way to balance his PH (7 now, a bit high) and hopefully avoid it. So research is all we can do and keep his surroundings comfy and free of any stress.

I'm with Fister. If I had been sedated and had a catheter I wouldn't be bouncing around right away either.

I know when Edwina is sedated to get her teeth cleaned it is a few days before she is back to normal!

Fister is bleeding now and we are very worried. He's hiding under the wardrobe in our bedroom, he's hardly had anything to drink the last 2 days. We called the emergency vets (hospital), they seem to think there's no immediate danger and wouldn't operate until tomorrow, but we're taking him to the hospital tomorrow anyway to have him operated. :( It's the third time he blocked up and had a cahteter and it hasn't helped.

Please keep everything crossed for him!

We've been through some of this...

Bleeding from WHERE??
Blood mixed in with the urine??? Or from somewhere else?

Blood in the urine - may look nasty and red - isn't a red-flag emergency as long as it's pretty wattery and not THICK as if it were pure blood.

Does he Still have the Catheter Installed; or did they take it out after he was flushed??

IF Fister hasn't been drinkin by himself for 2 days - He NEEDS to be force-fed some water.

Best tool to force water is a syringe - with the sharp needle part REMOVED.
No syringe? A kid's squirt gun or something similar will work...

Hold him with your hand over his head - thumb on one side of his jaw and fingers on the other side of his jaw -
gently apply pressure to the hinge of his jaw - he'll open up...

Squirt about a TEAspoon of water WAY back on his tongue - he'll swallow most of it and shake the excess out (all over you!)

He should be OK as long as he's not Completely Blocked and cannot eliminate any urine.

How many hours will it be before you can get him in to see the Vet?

Oh sweet Fister boy!! I sure hope you can put an end to this awful predicament!! Hopefully the vet will have a solution. We'll say a prayer for you and Scooter is sending along some soothing purrs for you. Do let us know how Fister is doing in the morning!
