No, this is MORE important.
Prayers for Max. I'll be thinking of you both.

Good to hear that you were able to master subq's so quickly and easily. Max will be a different cat w/the treatments, believe me. You have a wonderful and safe trip and try not to worry about Max. He'll be fine and so will you. :)
Have a wonderful weekend, Slick. Max is in good hands, I know.
Your dear boy will be waiting for you when you return.
I'm glad the vet visit went well and you find it easy to give Max the sub-q fluids. I'm sure he'll feel a lot better after! :) Sorry that he has lost weight though. :(
Slick, have a great trip and try not to worry. Max will be OK a few days without the fluids.
(((hugs)))
Prayers and a candle for Max and for you too, Slick.
I would even go so far and say that Max is just as important as Filou is. If he got fluids for some days this week I think he'll be fine until you come back. And maybe it's not daily fluids for him. You know Filou is on weekly fluids for 4 years now while we were away he only got it 2 times in 3 weeks. He lost a little weight ( about 150 g) in the first week but got most of it back in the 2nd and 3rd and is now at his 2940 g- which he keeps for close to a year now. He has been at 2700 end of last year when we were so afraid to lose him.
So these are the ups and downs of purrents with a kidney kitty- but you will do the best for Max and he will have more quality time with you.
I'm still out of town and return home to my beloved kitty tomorrow. Gosh I've sure missed him but during my stay here in Cranbrook, BC, I've met lots of dogs and cats and I do have some pictures I might post if they turned out.
I've been in touch with my cat sitters and my neighbour and Max is doing fine. Tomorrow evening with be day one of his fluid intake so we'll see how it goes. I'm thinking I will do it after he's eaten and has a full tummy and a bit settled down.
Barbara: yes, the vet did say that daily fluid intake is best for now until he gets some weight back on they we can taper down to 3 times a week eventually.
....but....this is just so hard.:(
I'm glad to hear that he's been doing well while you've been away.:) Hopefully the sub-q fluid treatments will go well and they'll help him out a lot. I'll continue to keep him in my thoughts and prayers.
It'll be easier on you once you see how well Max is doing on the subq's. Better and better...
Max fights me every step of the way. It's become very stressful. This week I called Dr. Singh and asked him if every other day would be OK for him since he is still "fancy feast" driven  and eats like a pig in the evening. He said that every Mon, Wed, and Fri would be fine so starting tonight that will be his schedule.
It's a two person job and my neighbour Betty (she also stuck with me during my cancer recovery) is helping. I don't know what I would do without her.
By the way today marks Max's 17th purrffday. He was born on July 3, 1992. His mother is Nartuk Apricot Brandy (DOB Sept 2/90) and his dad is Nartuk Black Magic (DOB Feb 22/89). He was never registered but all of his ancestors were. :)
Thanks so much for your thoughts.
Awww, happy birthday, big boy! Don't fight momma, okay? She is helping you, not hurting you, even if it doesn't feel like that.
Happy Birthday sweet Max! At least you don't have to get fluids on your birthday today I am sending you lots of virtual hugs, cake and catnip! Have a good day.
And be good when you are getting your fluids, naughty boy. ;)
Happy birthday Max!
Slick, the fact that Max is fighting shows that he's still got some pep in him, but I imagine it will be a bit of a struggle to give him fluids the first few times - I will send lots of calming thoughts. :) Be a good boy an sit still!
Fister and I wish you a day filled with cuddles, treats and catnip!
Happy 17th Birthday, sweet Max!
I agree w/Randi, fighting is good! LOL When my Puddy just laid there and knew that a subq was coming, I got worried. After a while, she was a good girl and kept still but I knew the difference. Now it's Pidgelet's turn. She refuses to sit down during the treatment. She stands up w/her back straight. Fun giving her the fluids that way. We're still praying for Max, though, and you, too, of course. And give Max some good head scritchies from me for his birthday, please.
