Thank you so much. I never thought about the self clean part.. I will now be more fanatical as well. I do ALWAYS check the oven, and I keep the oven light on just in case, and look often.
I understand about being tired, I still have not slept, so I am sure when I fall out (once I get my boy back) I will be out like a light.. On the floor beside my sweet boy, I cant wait:love:

You're not alone, Katie
I've never told anyone outside the family about this, Katie, but it might help you know that others make the same kind of mistakes. Once, many, many years ago, when I had a bustling household full of children young and old, I opened the dishwasher when it had completed its cycle to find one of our baby kitties. I had never had hysterics before, and never since, but I went into such a screaming, crying state that my older son had to tackle me, throw me on the couch and hold me down until I became rational again. We'll never know how the kitty go in there, but I have never, ever gotten over the guilt. Try to forgive yourself if you can. I know you'll get Andy back.
-
I am so sorry you had to go through that. That is awful, but I know that it was an accident, and I know the kitten knew it as well:( The panic, I know that feeling.
Just thinking about how long my boy was in there, how scared he was, how I walked past it 10 times before I heard the bumps... I cleaned potty pans, right beside the dryer. I cleaned the kitchen, RIGHT next to the area where the dryer is. I hope he did not know that. The what ifs are the worst of it.
Once again, I am sorry for your loss. I can look at your situation, and say I know it was a complete accident and you should NOT feel guilty. Guilt is a horrible feeling. I will never get over what I have done, I just pray I have MANY more years to make it up to him.
Thank you again.

Keeping Andy and you in my prayers.

Oh my gosh, reading this just sent chills down my spine!! Poor Andy, and poor you!!!! (((HUGS)))
Don't blame yourself, no matter how careful we are, how often we check things, accidents like this sometimes happen. :( :(
The most important thing is that Andy recovers from this ordeal, and I was very relieved that your reports from the vet clinic sound positive. I'll keep him in my thoughts and hope that he'll be able to come home to you very soon!
pat1066, what a horrible nightmare!!! I'm really sorry that such a terrible thing happened to you! :(

Katie, OMGosh, HUGS to you, and loads of prayers for health and a full recovery to sweet Andy!
"I am a bit over emotional just now" - hey, you have EVERY RIGHT to be just now. What a horror, but it sounds like you caught on to the situation and got Andy out and to the ER in time.
I too was sick just reading this. Poor sweet boy. How scary for both of you. He WILL recover and be home with his mommy soon.
Just an idea for some folks: I had to keep the water squirt bottle near the oven for a while when Tommy and Tuppence first arrived back in January. They were too curious for their own good; and for my sanity. Now they give the oven a wide berth as they pass it. I still have to keep watch, I know, but a bit of training may help too.

Katie,
I didn't post last night but I was praying hard for Andy. It wasn't your fault. Accidents do happen and since I live an apartment I've never had to experience checking dryers or washers.
But I know to keep that in mind for the day my husband and I get a house. I'm sure Andy knows how sorry you are and it sounds like he is getting better. I'm still going to continue to pray hard that everything goes well and that you will be able to bring him home.
Take care and Hugs to Andy,
Melissa

Ok. Quick update. I called for a update (yes, another one) and this is what was said. I asked to speak directly to the evet. He got on and I requested that he do another exam, I wanted updated vitals/temps and heart rate.
He told me that vitals are ok, not bad not great. Temp is down to 103 now. Heart rate still elevated, in the 200s, but not as bad as it was. That his ear is scorched, and is now starting to show signs of a hematoma(filling with blood). He is still not eating, but he is still taking his ivs, and pain meds every 30 or so minutes.
He expects him to pull through, but that since he went through heat stroke, that I might need xrays and full blood work (liver failure is a issue). I told him that whatever he thinks is best. I would rather be safe than sorry. I dont think I could handle any more sorry right now.
So that is the up to the minute news. Please still pray hard for my boy. I wanted to bring him home today, but am now doubting that. Still hoping I can though.
Thank you all so much, and I am so grateful for my PT friends. Also, hubby woke up this morning and was alot nicer to me about this whole horrible thing. He says he is praying for Andy (he is VERY religious) and that he does feel terrible for him, as he would any animal that went through that. He was just mad at me.
*HUGS* to all of my PT friends!

I'm so sorry this happened Katie. And I'm sorry your husband was a jerk about it.
I have know several people that have had this happen to one without good results of the outcome. :(
I will keep you and Andy in my prayers.
-
I am so glad it sounds like Andy will be okay. It will be a long recovery, for both of you.
I am in tears again reading what pat1066 went through. :(
Sending hugs and love from California to the Layne household and directly to Andy too.
-
I am glad your husband is praying...I figured he just reacted out of emotion, as you did. {{{hugs}}}
The hematoma on Andy's ear is a good sign - that is how the body tries to heal damage. It's a healing thing!
I want your PayPal addy too...I don't really have anything at all, but will use plastic to help out a bit! It's for the best cause ever! :)

Prayers for Andy
Katy, I don't come here as often as I'd like, but I just read your thread and had to reply. Years and years ago, I had a friend to whom this happened - and I've been paranoid on the subject ever since. It's a good paranoia - and one that all of us here will now share, for the safey of our kiddens.
You and Andy will be in my prayers; I personally have experienced the power of prayer, and, with so many good people here sending their petitions to the Creator, surely He will hear and answer.
