Kitchen item that scares me: Pressure cooker or deep fat fryer which is why I don't have any!
Predominant in my "pantry" - rice, pasta, beans, herbs & spices
Machine - The coffee maker - without it, nothing else matters:rolleyes:
Food - garlic - I can't wait for this year's garlic festival in August so that I can stock up on the good stuff!!! (But this year I'll pass on the garlic ice cream, that's definetly something that only needs to be experienced once in life).
Tools - used to be my nifty cheese grater/container that I bought at IKEA until I was told that I needed to get my cholesterol levels down.:(
I love my PC knifes.

MY big fear is of a box grater-knuckle buster- I always get down to the smallest part of the food I am grating and get paranoid!:eek:

I friggin hate the plastic packages that I have to open in the kitchen......
I usually grab a knife and proceed to punch holes into the plastic that make pouring out the contents harder!

Companies GIVE them away and they open letters with no problem at all! I grabbed the one off of my telephone table and started to use it on the packets with not a care or problem in the world!
It's totally magic and I am going to glue a magnet onto mine and place it on the fridge.......If you have one try it!
It's a god send!

I figured it out when I was spilling the larger pack-chips, noodles in the Hamburger Helper kits.
1)
Fold the top of the package over, Insert the pointy part and open away. Make sure you get a good grip of the bag, sometime I got way to confident!

This one you need some 'theater of the mind' to get thru?
This works for smaller packages and takes a little practice!
Take your HOLDY hand and make a peace sign facing to the side and downward.
Close them on the top of the packet -holding it tight between those fingers-
Let the package hang down and use your thumb and remaining fingers to pull the plastic tight. Then zip the package open with the cutter.
With a little practice you can use your thumb and other fingers to push the ketchup down in the packet while you open it! The only drawback is the small pieces of plastic that are left over.:confused:
It sounds weird, but now I can open pretty much and package in a flash!
Practice and you'll see just how easy it is!
Machine: stove.
Tools: my excellent German knives (Wüsthoff) and wooden spoons for cooking, my granny's cast iron pot
Food: canned tomatoes, Indian spices
