I have setup most of our monthly bills with an automatic transfer from our checking account. The bills that I can't do that with, I still pay with check. I just got new checks a couple of weeks ago with cute little children on them. Before those I had wild animals (deer, fox, rabbits etc)

I pay some bills with checks, some with automatic withdrawal. I use my debit card for most everything and try my best to record it in my check register(not always successful with this I'm afraid  ). I use credit cards occasionally and pay them off every month. I do use cash occasionally too. I guess I use all methods to get the job done. :)

The only checks I write are when I cannot either pay on line or by credit card. Such as sending a check to a family member or paying the people who clean my house.
I doubt I write three checks a month. I just finished my first book of checks since moving here two and a half years ago.

I still write cheques, also pay stuff online using card & by direct debit
Just depends who it is i'm paying

I still have a checkbook but I rarely use checks. I usually use my debit card or cash when paying for things at the store or for gas. I use credit cards when shopping online or for very large purchases or vet bills. I pay all of my credit card bills online and some of my bills like my phone, high speed internet, and utility bill are automatically deducted from my checking account.

I write very few cheques these days, (note we spell it differently down under) most of my payments are by automatic payment and i use eftpos for everything, but i do still write my power bill, internet bill, and the odd thing for school etc by cheque.
-
I write the odd check, but mostly I do it online. When I was younger my dad gave me money to pay bills (by check) and learn to balance it and send him a "report" every month or something. (I hated it D:)

I use my debit card to pay for almost everything.... even monthly bills like phone, cell, car payment, etc.! So easy to justy do it online, print out a receipt, complete with a confirmation #, then verify it with the bank account (also checked online!)
I get all bills that I can online, and that eliminates a lot of extra paper (and saves trees!) coming in my "outdoor" mailbox!
I keep having to buy extra check registers rather than checks since I keep the records, but don't use the checks!
I have noticed that my parents (77 this year) both use their debit card for most purchases, but that they DON'T pay anything online! They still don't trust the safety, and I respect that.

We pay everything online that we can. If the bill doesn't have the option of paying online then we'll write a check. Some people said they feel more secure writing a check- I feel the opposite. The mail has to pass though too many hands and that makes me nervous. When we do write a check we NEVER put it in our mailbox we always drive it to the post office. Identity theft is far too easy with checks and I'm just not comfortable with them sitting in my mailbox.

if your son thinks YOU are outdated he'd fall over with me then!
I had trouble about 6 years ago managing my checking acct and the credit union closed it. So every payday since than I organize all my bills withdraw the cash and take it to one of the local stores and get money orders. (one of them has them for .29) I fill them all out and mail them in via snail mail!
Its archaic but it makes me feel as tho I have some control and I'm scared of getting a checking account b/c of my mistakes years ago.

I don't use checks hardly ever, but sometimes something requires a check so I still write em.
-
We write a LOT of checks.
If my husband had a credit card, it would a BAD situation. He is a spending fool. The ONLY way I can keep track of what he spends is to make him write duplicate checks for EVERYthing. Cash is gone some unknown place in a matter of days ... or hours.
-
I pay my bills online and any online ordering is by paypal or my check card, but I still write checks occasionally. I guess I'm more with the times in that way, but I'm still in the dark ages in the fact that I don't own a cell phone.
-
I was just thinking of this, last week, Pam, when we paid the heating contractor, by check, for some work he did in our house. We don't write many checks at all.
I guess we mostly use checks to pay for things like that, when someone needs to be paid "on the spot". The only other things I can think of is that we pay our church pledge by check or cash, our petsitter gets a check or cash, and we usually pay our vet bill with a check. Everything else is done by automatic draft or by online banking.

I use cheques for rent mostly, but thats the only way to pay lol However I use certified cheques so they can never bounce! My Car insurance has a habbit randomly increasing every month by 50-100 dollars, so a lot of my things bounce cause of them  I started at 120.00/month & I'm up to 450.00/month!!    having a clear history does sqaut for me :( stupid INS! Luckly the INS ladies LOVE Chad so they are putting me into a lower risk catagory so I'll be paying 100.00 less/month WOOHOO (kinda) :p
I use to pay a lot of my bills by credit card as I used it kind of like a cheque but over the phone (instant).. but fraud fixed that idea for me.. stupid theves!! Chad has had his VISA for 3 days & someone already copied it & took all his $$ off it... luckly VISA noticed & stopped the card.
SO thats how I think Cheques better at times. They are harder to commit fraud on. Unlike Credit Cards :(
