This has been a fun thread to read through. Personally I thought your current sofa and tables went well with the formal style, but I guess what you are going for is a more eclectic feel, which is more of a challenge. I do like the glass wrought iron tables you chose. They are beautiful. Get out the glass cleaner. You will be using it often.
I agree with Catnapper's comments in her first post about the baskets, etc. Keep experimenting with what you put in there. You will find the right mix and all that really matters is that it pleases your eye.
Yes, there is no doubt my sofa and tables "matched" but I was just sick of them! LOL! The sofa went "bye bye" yesterday ... put it on Freecycle and someone who lives in my neighborhood came and got it! ;)Quote:

Even though he loves University of Tennessee Orange, I'm not going to have lots of it on my walls! In fact his office in our home is painted in UT orange ... just for HIM! ;)
Anyway, the new trendy colors for 2007 are orange, shades of purple, pinks, limes ... all the brights. The "new" black is chocolate brown. It does say that you can put the new oranges with red, pink, and all the other colors as well. I am totally confused as to what to use in my L.R. now with my red walls. *sigh* I really hope to find a piece of art or rug to give me my inspiration.
This thread doesn't have to be all about my re-decorating my Living Room. Anyone else who wants to share pics of ideas is welcome to post! ;)
Well, you wouldn't believe the steps along the way since I first started this thread ... but it was a big 360 back to VICTORIAN style! I guess I am painfully traditional! :D
After hubby put a "nice fresh coat" of the red ... we still ended up changing to "Sagey". We both LOVE it! We had to put primer on first though so the red would cover!
Here is the final result. (Of course I am always looking to add, improve, and re-arrange) It's a neverending thing for me! :p
I'll post the pictures in the next post ..... have to upload them first.
Kim
There are still some areas that I want to improve, but I can't buy everything at once! Plus, I have to really think about what I want.
I tried to include all angles of the room so you can see how it all fits together.

Hubby called that a Bad maggie day!!!:D so Far I have repainted all rooms but my kitcen, and my Living room. My living room still has no furniture in it. Right now it is just a large kitty room!:D So I have been working on this house since last June! I still have no trim up, no door frames, or window frames. Some doors donty even have any door knobs!! he he he he Obviously I have been taking my time!! I dont even have any doors on my closets!
I realy need to get going!! But with the weather so Nice, I have not wanted to be stuck inside working on the house, so everything has been put off for a while. But yesterday it was cold and rainy, so I actually did something!!
A "bad Maggie day"! I like that!!! :D
WOW, you really have been into "demo"! You don't start with one room, you take out the whole house! LOL!
It might be a bit late with this advice, but there is a great wallpaper removal product that we used to take down some borders! It's called DIF and they sell it at Home Depot. It's a gel so it doesn't pour all down your walls! You just scuff up the wallpaper a little so the solution can seep into the backing and glue. You spray it on, wait about 15 minutes then it just peels right off! I hope you had something like this when you were doing your BIG walls? ;)
You better be careful, the kitties might sabotage your new furniture when you try to re-claim their kitty room! :D
I just use Warm water and Vinegar. It works great for me. Yesterday, it just peeled off in sheets. I was so happy. :DQuote:

My biggest problem in life is that I do way too many things at once!! One would think I would learn my lesson eventually, but so far no such luck!:D
Kim, tell me more about the painting above the fireplace, please ... I like it! (And it looks familiar, but I can't figure out why.)
I have wallpaper in 3 areas of my unit, none of which I put up. The bedroom is a floral print, and I can live with it. The kitchen is royal blue with a white pinstripe that is so securely attached to the wall I don't know what to do! It is dark enough that I'm afraid to paint right over it. The one I like best, sort of a creamy tone-on-tone in the entryway, is peeling off at the seams. I need to go to wherever they sell wallpaper over the weekend and find something similar. Whoever hung the paper in the entry did a bad job of preparing the walls, so I'll be doing the spackle thing. I wish I could just glue the seams back into place.
Elyse .... If that kitchen paper is stuck really well, then you could paint a coat of primer first, and then a color over it. Is it a textured paper or just smooth?
Kim
Your living room is gorgeous!
Wanna trade? ;):p
