Ask the Vet to give your dog a shot of Zofran shortly before returning him to you. Or get the shot now. Wait an hr and try offering the can food. If that restores appetite then ask for a precription of Zofran pills. It is expensive, but will suppress all nausea. Also ask for a referral to a specialist for a second opinion as to treatment.
I didn't see your post before we went dragondawg :/ but I'll ask him about it, thanks!
Well, they said that Micki's bloodwork today came back "exceptionally well" so the possibility of being poisoned is quite unlikely at this point. He's also feeling better, which is a good sign. Today while he was at the vets he chewed through his IV, barked constantly and rubbed his nose raw trying to get out :( BUT, those are very good signs! Yesterday he layed there all morning, so today was an improvement. They gave him a shot of antibiotics and some pills to restore appetite. He'll go back Monday (or Tuesday) for additional bloodwork and see if he'll need another round of fluids. He said that if Micki returns to normal within the first week of treatment, the outlook is very good for him...so for now its just a wait and see with check ups throughout the week.
Oh JOY, That is good news about your Micki.!!!!!! Thank-YOu for up dating. ;)
That's great news!! :D I hope Micki continues to improve.
I missed this before now, I really really hope he has nothing serious and that he recovers completely. How scary that must be. Lots of prayers for you and Mickey!
Now THAT's the Micki we know and love! :D Thanks for the (potentially very) good news!Quote:

My Sadie is living with kidney disease due to old age and she is doing well on a special diet. It sounds like Micki's is quite sudden and I assume he isn't old? I hope it is just some bacteria infection that can be cured. If he does need to deal with kidney disease I found a lot of info at www.dogaware.com.
I'm just seeing this thread as well. Gosh, I hope Micki continues to get better. I'm sending out some powerful PT prayers from Florida. GET WELL MICKI!!!
I am just seeing this.. Poor Micki..

I just hope Micki gets back to feeling his old self. poor guy..
My prayers and thoughts go out to you all , especially Micki.
I didn't see this earlier, oh my poor Micki. :( I hope it doesn't turn out to be anything serious. Get feeling better Micki!!
I had to drop him back off again this morning. He's lost another pound since Friday. He still hasn't eaten anything on his own, I liquified some of the canned food yesterday and had to syringe it in him every couple hours, and even then he spit most of it out :( They're doing another IV today, and more bloodwork.
It was very sudden, and he's only 4 years old :( Thanks for the site.Quote:
