Glad to hear she's doing better. She'll continue to be in my thoughts.
Thanks everyone :). Penny finishes her antibiotics tomorrow, then it is back for more blood tests to see if everything is ok. If she goes down hill again after the ABs stop then we will know there is something going on and Xrays and ultrasounds will be done.
I'm hoping and praying that Penny"s blood work reveals a clean bill of health.
I'm so happy that she has improved during the course of her treatment. I'll keep her in my thoughts. She's such a sweet doggie!!!!!
Bit of an update on Penny...
We ended up back at the vets today Penny may have to have her left eye removed, the vets thinks either Glucoma or possible a growth/ tumor behind her eye. Pen goes back in to the vets in the morning to have her pupils dilated so the vet can look back and see whats happening behind her eye :(.
Good thoughts and vibes would be appreciated thanks.
Prayers for Penny. Hope she gets better soon.
Sending good thoughts your way. Hope the Vet gives you better news.
Hugs,
Willie :)
Prayers for Penny for sure!
Pawsitive thoughts and prayers for Penny.
Thanks everyone. I forgot to mention that our little dog has gone from being nearly 5KGs to 3.74KGs since July .... not good.
Rhi,
Sorry I only saw the update now.
How is Penny?
Thanks for all the good thoughts everyone!!
Penny went back to our vets this morning and stayed for a good hour or so, we got a call about midday saying we had to take her down to Melbourne (about 1 1/2 hours away) for possible emergency surgery... our vet saw what she thought was the lense of Penny's eye torn away so sent us off to an eye specialist ;).
It turned out being a very severe cataract and her body has had a reaction to it and her eye is quite inflamed, we have drops for her long term that need to be givin once a day and we need to call back to the specialist's in about 2 weeks to let them know if the swelling and irritation has lessened any. And to see if her other eye has gotton any worse (Start of another cataract).. if the other eye has worsened then we will organise to have both eyes operated on.
So heres hoping the other eye stays the same and the swelling goes down.... and we can get some weight back on to the little girl ;).
Rhi,
Which vet did you have to bring Penny to in Melbourne?
HUGS for you and her that the drops work ..... :D
Michelle it is Animal Eye Care , they have a clinic at Weribee every thursday.. i cannot remember what street the other clinic we went to is in ;).
Penny is doing ok, still plodding along, eating/ drinking when prompted etc. She is going back to our vets on Monday and may be started on some different drops as these ones have not kicked in yet.

With a heavy heart we have decided it would be unfair to put Penny through surgery, so at the moment we are keeping her as pain free as possible and she will let us know when it is time.. some people may not like our choice but our little dog is so frail.. the life has gone out of her eyes today :(.
ETA: She will be off to our vets later today to see what else we can do to help her & for more blood work to be done.. i still have hope that she will improve.. we can only hope.
My God, that poor little thing has been through so much. I feel so bad. I didn't catch all of this but this eye problem - was that part of her illness in the summer time? I'm keeping her in my prayers. She was doing really well for awhile. Sending positive thoughts your way.
