Morning Brodie (and Mom). I am glad to hear things are going so well and you are being a velcro kitty with your Mom.. She needs that and I bet you do too! Keep trying to eat that new food and maybe you will develope a taste for it and come to like it. Stay well little fella and get back to normal as soon as you can so this ordeal can be just a bad memory!
;) The vet just called and checked on Brodie. See how he was doing & if he had vomited any. I thought that was so nice, especially since he was so mean to everyone there! I figured they were glad to see him leave yesterday!!! LOL They were happy to hear that he had done so well last night! :D
I am so happy to hear that dear Brodie is back home and doing well.
I'm sure in time they will develope a taste for the new food.
Glad to hear that Josie is starting to tolerate Brodie. It does take a few days for them to adjust to the different smell of the one that was in the vets.
That was SO nice of your vet to call to see how Brodie was doing. :) That really shows how much to DO care.

I don't know what to think - after everything . . . he's still vomiting.
The vet said she would be okay with him puking 3 times a week. (since cats are prone to vomit) I guess this is ONE.
I'm sorry, but try not to worry! My Dexter is my puker here! He pukes up a big hairball or his food every single day. Out of 21 cats, I always know it's him! :rolleyes:

If he does continue to vomit, I would honestly have him rechecked for an obstruction. The vet couldn't detect Callie's on X-ray and it was only through ultrasound that something was seen. Did he eat anything solid at the vet clinic? Callie didn't vomit when she was given her anti-nausea medication every 8 hrs and I had to force feed her to get her to eat. We were at the vet clinic for an entire week straight before the surgery was done; she's doing so much better now but refuses to eat much of her solid food unless there is some soft on top. :rolleyes: Good luck and let us know how he is feeling!
Actually I think all they fed him at the clinic was wet food. I'm not sure why they didn't try to give him dry. I told them that he eats dry at home. :rolleyes: They didn't give him ANYTHING for like 24 hours and then told me "he didn't vomit ANY yesterday" and I was like "IT'S BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T GIVE HIM ANYTHING TO EAT OR DRINK!" (duh) I felt like smacking her at that point, but I think I got it across to her. :)Quote:

Which brought her back to the food theory. She did say to give the food 6 weeks to work, so maybe that's how long it will take to really help.
Kim: I know you say not to worry about my little puker but it was hard NOT to last week. He was a sick little kitty. For him to be puking up EVERYTHING, there was definitely something wrong.
Oh no, sorry to hear he threw up again - poor little Brodie. Has your vet suggested trying Prednisolone? It's an anti-inflammatory and my vet said that if I give it to CJ and it helps, that's a definite indication that he has allergies. It did help him tremendously, but fortunately now with this new food, I was able to take him off it completely. The reason I bring it up is because before the Pred, CJ not only had diarrhea, but he threw up about....3 times a week. When he was on the pred, not only did his diarrhea get a little better, but he stopped throwing up completely!
I still say you have to have him tested for allergies. If there's no obstructions, you'll never know what's causing him to throw up until you know what he's allergic to. Once you know that you can find a food that has NOTHING in it that he's allergic to, which should help tremendously.
However, like Kim says, Tubby was a puker his whole life. Anywhere from once a week to 3 or 4 times a week. It's just something he did his entire life, and he was completely healthy until he was 15 1/2 when he was diagnosed as being in the early stages of kidney failure. So cats throwing up is nothing unusual. I can understand how you'd be upset about it though...especially after last week!
Also, since you seemed to have had some disagreements with your vet....is it possible to take him somewhere else and get a second opinion?
At this point, I am completely & utterly at a loss for words. I have no clue what to do.
I think I'm just going to give it some time right now. He's only vomited once so far. He's eating today and hasn't vomited, yet. I'm just going to give it some time.
Christa--No they just did a standard X-ray minus the barium. We thought she was vomiting due to either 1) the thyroid medication she was on or 2) her stomach did not like the new food I switched them to. I honestly did not think she had a blockage until she continued to throw up despite having removed her from both the medication and the food. :rolleyes: Prayers are coming your way!
Christa, I'm glad to hear Brodie is back home but sorry that he puked. I do agree that maybe you should just watch him to see - it could be switching him to a new food may be a factor. Ripley is my puker here and he does it in waves. He'll puke almost daily for a few weeks and then take a break for a few weeks. When he does throw up it is always in piles of three. Guess it likes to spread the joy. :rolleyes:
Anyway, I just recently switched the whole gang to a weight managment food and it made several puke at first even though I introduced it gradually. They hate the food and seem to only eat it as last resort. I'm going to have to find another brand but dread the puking again.
Maybe it's just going to take Brodie a little time to get his system back in order.
I hope you're right Lori. Initially the vet asked that I give the new food 6 weeks to see if it would make a difference. So I guess that's what I'm going to try to do.Quote:

He threw up 4 piles of food last night & 1 water. He doesn't seem to have a fever, just can't keep his food down.
I'm going to ask her about the pred . . . see if there is anything we can do to stop the vomiting.
Taking Brodie back to the vet today at 4:05. Not sure what's going to happen, if they'll want to keep him again or what.
I'm just numb from all of this. I've cried my eyes out . . . I'm just at a loss for words.
