I loved the ducks in the background
As for Tina Fey, I got the distinct impression that she wanted no part of SP in the future.
Printable View
I suspect Tina doesn't need the money or exposure so returning to SNL to play SP would be a stretch, surely. I wonder though - they would probably pay her a small fortune to do a cameo.
I really would like to see all of the hoopla go away for SP and her family, but if she keeps her family etc. on display or in the limelight, the negative press will keep up. Someone needs to save her from herself.
Maybe she should write a book - as stated in a couple of articles I've read. I hope her writing is better than her public speaking. Maybe she will have a co-author as many do. In fact, I encourage it.
I am going to give this topic a rest now. As you can tell, she is not my favorite person.
:p
I've just now finished the Vanity Fair article. It did manage to make
Palin a sympathetic figure near the end.
http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/f...ah-palin200908
From the Vanity Fair article...one of my favorite examples of her previously cited "eloquence"!
Quote:
... she stopped to talk to a local television reporter about what she had learned in the campaign just concluded. “I don’t think it’s changed me at all,” she insisted, clutching a cup of coffee as her breath steamed into the frosty air. “You know, it’s pretty brutal, the time consumption there, and the energy that has to be spent in order to get out and about with the message on a national level, a great appreciation for other candidates who have gone through this, but also just a great appreciation for this great country. There are so many good Americans who are just desiring of their government to kind of get out of the way and allow them to grow and progress, and allow our businesses to grow and progress. So, great appreciation for those who share that value.”
I still have my coupon!
Thanks for the link the the VF article. I was thinking I would have to buy the magazine to be able to read it. Wonder what rock I live under? :o:eek::o Every now and then my brain kicks in.
:p
Your analogy is very flawed.
My opinion was asked in that thread, I was not telling the Iranians what to do.
So if I am condescending and talk down to others Ill live longer?
Nor do I and I hope she can actually do some good for the state while she is at it.
The move suprised alot of Alaskans, even having to spend so much time and money, state and personal money, fighting frivolous ethics charges. ETA: Previous Governors would have just wasted state time and money, Palin said no to business as usual and stepped down to save the states time and money, I can see why the lefties and MSM would find such integrity scary.
You vote for those who amuse you? That right there is scary.
She didnt ask to run as VP, she was asked to run by a campaign that stabbed her in the back.
I can only hope you are being sincere when you say you hope her and her family their best, but forgive me if I dont take it to heart.
Sarah Palin has done more for this state then the previous 2 Governors, and she has done alot for the city I now call home. Yes the GOP shoved her under the bus during the electionand the DNC has been running her down ever since. You hope her the best and then you insult her, classy move.
The FBI stated...

I wont comment about Arnold, Waxman, or any of your state representatives because it isnt any of my business, try and keep up. Pelosi, Boxer, and FeinStein are all fair game because they enact Federal laws and that affects every citizen in this country.
Comment? No, but to say he should resign, yes.
Only if you enjoy tearing people down to make yourself feel better about your own lot in life.
Obama put his own family front and center but somehow they are off limits, strange isnt it.
As for Bristol giving interviews or being on the cover of magazines, why should she or her mom be attacked for that? The lefties want abortions for 14 year olds without parental consent, so cant Bristol do something of her own free will without momy saying its OK?
Im glad she writes her own speeches, at least she is in touch with Alaskans and doesnt need a spin artist like most polititians. Again you say you feel sorry for her and insult her.
Link to the text of the resignation, I dont know how long that link will be good.
Read the speech on the link above. You find a baby crying entertaining? People call me sick.
It really is sad that Americans would rather have their leaders talk down to them, then just talk to them. This Country has to many of the former and to little of the latter.
I hope Jack in the Box has alot of those smoothie coupons, this Country seems to need it.
All I can say is that my golden rule is that anyones kids are off limits..period.
TO show I have a sense of humor...

This is not new to me.... but I thought since it is also in the current magazine, maybe someone might read it again.
Palin needs to go....and hey, she is. Here's hoping the next Gov. will be brighter and care about wolves and the other animals mentioned in the article.
And guess what Blue? Your comments about me made me laugh. You don't know me at all. Comment away.
Wolves here are like deer on the east coast, if we do nothing they will eventualy starve. The difference here in AK is if we let the wolves go their natural course towards starvation, many Alasksan families will also go hungry do to lack of game to fill their freezers for the winter. So do you care more about wolves or about families being fed? Last I heard Gov to be Parnell, is just as much for the aerial wolf hunting as Palin and the previous administration. Ild rather bounties be brought back then the continuation of aerial hunting, but thats just me. I hope Im wrong about Parnell and aerial wolf hunting.
I made observations about your posts, nothing more. So laugh away, its your right.
ETA: I just reread my post above, I made no comments about you, I asked a few questions but made no comments about you. Ild be happy to get to know you however, I welcome friends from all sides and from everywhere.
Liz...I am curious what made you feel Palin a sympathetic figure? I reread it last night but could not tell.
It was refreshing to read that a) she uses a speechwriter (inlcuidng for her much raved acceptance speech) AND b)she uses a teleprompter. I thought it so strange and unprofessional that she would not.
Palin was given a speech writer while she was a VP candidate, and she used a teleprompter while she was the VP candidate. As Gov she writes her own speeches and doesnt use a teleprompter. For you to call it unprofessional shows to me some people want to be told what to do, that some people want to be ruled.
If RICHARD spoke about a female elected official the way you speak about Mrs Palin you would accuse him of hating women and need a JB smoothie.
Caught a little of the Russian press conference.
We did well until the Q&A part of the program.
How does Um, Ah, Uh translate into Russian?

I like Ms. Sanford!
She's the kind of woman that represents some of the females in the United States today.
They will not let go of a sham marriage, they will do anything to deflect THEIR part in the sham marriage, she is hell bent to stay 'relevant' in the marriage by giving the Governor a biatch slap any time she thinks he slips up.
I was informed that Ms. S is a self contained person who does not need the money or public adulation.
That said?
LOL-She's a lame duck wife, waiting to finish out her term as the Current First Lady of SC. After that, she'll write a book about how she went thru hell during the marriage and his term as Gov.
Alaska needs a governor.
I wonder what Ms. Sanford's qualifications are.;)
Street Rat Crazy, Baby!
One thing, if Sara Palin runs for President she won't need to worry about getting my vote. If she can't handle being a govenor, she sure as heck couldn't handle being a President.
This is the paragraph I was referring to. For a brief few minutes, I could
see her as a human being. In the end, she really is her own worst enemy.
"In Evansville, though, Palin concentrated on the task at hand: an emphatic defense of the anti-abortion cause. But in doing so she made a startling confession about what she thought when she learned she was pregnant at 43 with her youngest child, Trig, who arrived in April 2008, as the world now knows, with Down syndrome. “I had found out that I was pregnant while out of state first,” Palin told the crowd. “While out of state, there just for a fleeting moment, I thought, Nobody knows me here. Nobody would ever know. I thought, Wow, it is easy to think maybe of trying to change the circumstances and no one would know—no one would ever know. Then when my amniocentesis results came back, showing what they called abnormalities—oh, dear God—I knew, I had instantly an understanding, for that fleeting moment, why someone would believe it could seem possible to change those circumstances, just make it all go away, get some normalcy back in life.” It is almost impossible not to be touched by the rawness of her confession, even if it is precisely this choice that Palin believes no other woman should ever have, not even in the case of rape or incest. "
Ive never seen such misogyny from women before, this truely is a first for me.
111 pages - that's the length of this thread. It was started by Richard, March 19, 2008!!
I went back and read it from the very beginning. Takes awhile, but it's well worth the time.
Richard, have you thought about turning this into a book http://bestsmileys.com/reading/4.gif
Get on with her life and please, stop talking to the media.
This from one of her latest interviews.........
" Sarah Palin and her defenders have cited numerous ethics complaints against the Alaska governor as a practical reason for her resignation. Fighting the claims, Palin told the Anchorage Daily News Monday, was immobilizing her: "I'm not going to let Alaskans go through a year of stymied, paralyzed administration and not getting anything done."
Naturally, skeptical observers have wondered how Palin would handle being president if some ethics complaints are enough to make her unable to run a state. Palin's answer: if she was president, the Department of Law would protect her.
Palin said there is a difference between the White House and what she has experienced in Alaska. If she were in the White House the "department of law" would protect her from baseless ethical allegations.
"I think on a national level your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said.
There is no Department of Law. "
It's not 'my' thread. ;)
The thing that makes me kinda smile about the whole thing is that it has been pretty civil for the most part.
When I read some of the other stuff that shows up on 'political' websites I realize that we are in real trouble as a country. There are people in the media, and others that pass themselves off a media people that I wish would drop off the planet.
But to have this thread going for so long is a real tribute to everyone that has posted and read it.
----------------------------------------
I found out a long, long time ago that anyone who gets angry and cannot laugh before, during or after a political conversation, should not be talking politics.
People have turned it into a reason to dislike another person, all because they have a differing opinion.
So what?
You voted for X, I voted for Y.
I have problems with how my guy lost, Show some class about your winner.
I'll get behind the 'champion', but don't expect me to buy the t-shirt.
I don't take my political views to heart, or anyone else's either.
Politics, nor politicians hold my best interest in mind. I get on the band wagon when I see something I like and let it go afterwards. The people who are injured after a political conversations are the Trekkies of politics!
They refuse to see the reality of politics-the reality is that it's all lies!
Anyway, Trekkies are alot smarter. They save the uniforms and costumes for special occasions, not everday use.;)
------------------------------------
As they say, everyone has opinions and rear ends, right?
You just got to keep them clean and they won't smell.:D
At worst that insulting at best its enjoying the degradation of others.
Stop watching, stop reading, and stop commenting on it. THe news is after ratings, and they will keep inviting her on as long as she brings ratings.
Alaska has a Department of Law, Mrs Palin was likely referring to the Justice Department for the federal level, she doesnt rely on a full staff of writers and a teleprompter during statements as Gov.
You want painfull, Obama's Q&A about his trip to Russia, the ums and ahs where quite painful to listen to.
Blue.... Let it go. They are neither interested in facts or honest debate. They just want to make themselves feel better by bashing her. Sure, they SAY they feel sad for her and her kids.... But we know, its all good.
If they REALLY did not care for her, they would ignore her. (They being the press and the usual suspects here.) In reality, hardcore "political class" types, some D some R, FEAR her like the plauge. Why else would they invest so much energy in trying to destroy her? Its how they work. They don't argue the facts, because they can't. Instead, they target the person.
Just let it go. Knowing that if it ever came to a real debate on the values and issues... You know, with actual research and facts, rather than a quote from a media article, we can't lose. You know it, I know it, THEY know it.
To the "Progressive" types.... This is not about Sarah Palin. Its about we "flyover country" types knowing our 'place'. Never forget that not only can we win on the debate, we HEAVILY outnumber you. But we are too busy working and living our lives. When it matters, real America will be there.
People are starting to smell the BS the past few Presidents have been dishing out. Heck, these last 2 guys are starting to make me a fan of CLINTON. LOL.
I don't recall rules saying we must debate.
I enjoy reading others' opinions and don't need to make them wrong or try to correct them OR try make them change their minds. I let them be. My opinions may differ from others - and they will - I accept that. You are entitled to yours as well.
To each his own.
Good post!!
For those wishing to debate, HERE is a website to visit.
LOL... I know. I fully understand that there are no "rules" saying you must debate.
If it really came down to "each his own", AWESOME. That is what I want. That is what the founders intended, not this bloated, inefficient, corrupt colossus we have now. When you support politicians who support policies that FORCE anothers view on my life.... Well.... What say ye to that?
The freedom to innovate
The freedom to buy
The freedom to sell
The freedom to FAIL and not FORCE society to help you
To each his own.... If ONLY.
I have a question for you, Puck. I'm being serious here. I've read many of your posts where you complain about the government of this country. When you and Sparks got married, did you ever consider, even briefly, going to live in Canada - away from the government of this country?
Yes, but Government had nothing to do with it. I applied for several jobs, was made an offer by two different firms in the London, ON area. But because my skill set, Network Engineering, is not a NAFTA class job, the Ontario Government had to allow the firm to hire me. Both times my petition was denied, stating that there were Canadians in the job pool with the same skill set, on paper, as me. Thus the firm had to hire a Canadian.
Hindsight being what it is, its a good thing we did not move up there. My business is doing very well (knock, knock on wood) today.
I think I see where you are going with this.... No, I am not going to leave just because I fear where our country is going. That would be akin to surrender. We are still the most free nation on Earth, but we are close to giving it away.... And for what?
Let me be clear. I do NOT hate my country. I've fought for it, i've bled for it, i've buried friends for it.... I'd still die for it, without a thought. What I hate are the people we have selected as our "leaders". Barely any of them have ever kept the promises and oath's they have taken. Their tap dance game will end soon though, because the people are starting to wake up and pay attention. Its all it will really take. People to start holding these scum bags to their word.
I love my country, I HATE how our politicians abuse our Constitution.
How is the "stimulus" nonsense Constitutional?
How would a "free" health care system be Constitutional?
How is The President appointing all these "Czars", Constitutional?
Just because the people vote a guy in, does not give them the right to forget the Constitution.
If they ignore the Constitution, whats to stop them from doing anything else they want?
ETA - In summary.... I'm not a "run away" kind of guy. I'm the guy who marches to the "sound of the guns".
Having read TIME interview with Ms. Palin...I am taken back by one comment she makes..."tapped to run for vice president."
It rather reminds me of employees who say..."I wasn't looking for a job, they called me!" as if that somehow absolves them of the responsibility for the decision they made.
Sarah Palin had a choice to make - no one forced her to run for vice-president. She said "yes".
Spinning, spinning, spinning!
Cool, so she is just another politician. Big shocker. Mrs. Palin the person... Cool. The politician? Not so good, now that she just up and quit.
Anyway...
Can we possibly focus now on the people actually IN a office that matters? You know, the ones flushing our future down the crapper spending money that does not exisit on things that won't add REAL jobs to the economy, ever. The people who have spent barely 5% of the FIRST "stimulus" (most of it is spent in 2010, a <shock> election year!), who are now talking about ANOTHER one! Or are you guys really so afraid of her that you must banter on about her? All this media attention is doing is making her book deal sweeter. Which is funny in a way...
The part I made bold had absolutely nothing to do with my thought process. You simply complain so often, I wondered if you had thought about living somewhere else - not running away certainly. You would still be able to maintain your citizenship - just not live in the thick of things. And marrying someone from another country gives the perfect opportunity.
I'm happy for you that your work is doing well.
