I have cancer....the road to recovery

Oh, Slick, I don't know what to say. I want to believe there is some other explanation for the *tumor*. My sister has brain cancer and when she has an MRI there was always a question about whether what they saw was tumor or edema. Whatever it is, it is just not fair that you have to continue to worry. I am glad you can go back to work as for me work keeps me from obscessing about all my ailments. Life seems more normal when you have a routine too. God bless you, Slick, and, no, here you are not alone.

Jen is right about enjoying every day. None of us is going to get out of here alive and we all need to appreciate what we have been given while we have it. I know I have taken much of life for granted and need to follow that advice as well.

Slick, it is good that you can go back to work for at least a couple days a week. I hope and pray that the tumor doesn't grow anymore. I will keep you in my prayers.

Phred is right, you are far from being alone, you do have all of us here crowded around you praying for you.

Slick, I'm SO sorry to hear the tumor has grown, and I really hope it's not the bad kind. As Phred says, if they thought it was that bad, I really don't think they'd let you wait for 3 months. So try to think positive - as you've always done. :)

I think going in to work a few days a week will also help you, but please promise not to stress over anything!! ;)

Oh Slick, What can I say? I'm glad you're released to going back to work at least part-time. That will help you feel like a bit of the old normal is returning. As a cancer survivor, I know that normal is forever changed after your diagnosis.

I know you have really good docs who know what they're doing. I also know you're proactive with your health care and that if anything changes you'll be right in their faces demanding that it be taken out.

Call me if you need to. I'll be home later this afternoon after Xmas shopping. The M's send head-bumpies.

can you request a second radiologist to review the ct films? another fresh pair of eyes might be helpful to see if it's a true size change and not just a different technique or a positional change?

Thank you all for your kind responses. Today is my first day back at work but this week I only work today and Thursday. I have to give my butt a good kick because I've still got some more shopping, wrapping and mailing to do.

....and for the first time in a long time, I had to set my alarm clock. Poor Max is used to sleeping in until 9am and he's wondering what Meowmie is doing up so early. Right now he's doing his morning laps around the condo.

Joyce: Thanks for that suggestion but the CT scan is always taken while I'm laying in the same position. I'll call my doctor and ask her opinion about the second reading.

Slick, I'm so sorry- I had not paid enough attention to this thread in the last days.

I send my best thoughts- a little work will help to keep your thoughts from worrying and Max will make sure you stay focussed on him. It's so annoying if the only thing you can do is waiting ;)

Trouble is, I keep worrying about this little nodule that's growing... :(
I have to wait until I have my CT scan on Feb 23rd to see what's next.

Edit: my blood pressure is really high...today it was 165/100. She is putting me on a water pill to see if that makes a difference, although I do know that I have alot of stress going on right now so that's a contributing factor. :(

I am sitting here reading the latest posts on this thread trying to decide what to say. At least for me...........I have told you so many times that I am offering up prayers - thinking positive thoughts and all of the "right" things hoping that they give you some comfort and support.

I think what I really want to say - and haven't had the gumption to say is...........I sure as hell hope that this cancer has not spread - the nodule hasn't budged - and we can get on with plans to swim with the dolphins.

OK, so I have about an hours work left to go and starting to wind down. **Hey, why don't I check out Pet Talk??** says to self.

Yes, I'm extremely stressed about this but I also have other issues in my life right now that are stressing me to the max....work, my brother, my Mom's moving, my dying aunt, my boss's retirement, my financial problems....

It's said that God never gives us more than He knows we can handle and right now I'm not sure if he is testing my faith or what?? Not a day goes by without a prayer or two but during the past month and the months to come, I'll be screaming out prayers night and day. He'll be so sick of hearing from me.....

You guys are the best. Thank you all for remembering. My scan is this Friday at 10am and I'm sure the doc won't have any results for about 5 days after.

There's nothing we can do until then except focus our prayers on other Pet Talkers who need help right now.
