Kay, I am so sorry....things have been too rough and too much happening with you...this is just not fair...
I hope your aunt can get some help... I wonder if a hospital social worker would have any ideas, or a lawyer for elderly people? Those lawyers do exist and know about things most of us don't.

Ugh... more bad news. :(
I don't know the whole story yet, but when my grandpa woke up this morning he blacked out and fell. He has gashes on his face and his whole left arm is bruised. He is at the hospital now. He was dehydrated, his kidneys were malfunctioning, and something else.
Like I said, I don't know the whole story yet. It's just one thing after another. :(
I don't know if he'll ever be "better."
Hi, even though I rarely post here I do keep all you in my thoughts and prayers. Now I'm requesting some prayers.
My parents have been out of town in San Clemente and I called earlier today to check up on things and to see when they'd be back in town. I've been watering their plants and making sure that eveything is okay at their house. Since they didn't answer I thought that they went to San Diego to my brothers house.
My mom called me back tonight and said that she just got out of the hospital. She had been having a hard time breathing on Wed. night. She called the advice nurse on Thurs. and she told her to go the ER. My mom thought about it but didn't want to spend all day there so she didn't go. She then had a horrible night on Thurs. and was up and down all night. On Fri. morning she told my dad that they were going to the ER.
They did some tests and found out that her heart is enlarged and she has some fluid in her lungs.:( She has congestive heart failure and it may be due to a virus.:( Her father died of congestive heart failure. They decided to admit her to the hospital and monitor her and run more tests. They did an ultrasound and they also found a gallstone in her gallbladder which will need to removed in the future. She's had no pain from this.
She's now on medication and she'll either stay the same or improve over time. The fluid is now out of her lungs so she should be able to sleep fine. She needs to not do any strenuous activities, heavy lifting, or go outside when it's too cold or too hot. She'll go back for more tests later on with her local doctors. My parents will probably be back in town this Thurs.
I'm so glad that she went to the ER. She had a similar attack the last time they were in San Clemente but it went away and her local doctors couldn't find anything wrong with her. I hope that she'll continue to improve. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

Scooter's mom, Extra prayers for your BIL, I lost my BIL to pancreatic cancer too, but as someone else mentioned, he lived much longer than what they said he could. Don't give up, enjoy every minute with him. Kay, I've been following about your family and your grandpa, :( I''m keeping your family in my prayers.

I dated a guy many years ago that just had a heart transpant at 26 years old...from heredatery genes.His mom has had an enlarged heart...his mom's brother had a heart transplant from an enlarged heart and now his sister's 15 year old boy has an enlarged heart.
only him (The guy i dated)and his uncle needed the transplant.
I hear the 26 year old is in his early 40's married with kids and his uncle is still alive after 20 something years after his heart transplant.
They can do wonders(Some doctors with hearts).
I hope for the best and future good health for your mom.I also think you should get yours checked early,for early detection so you can live to be 110 years old.
Oh...the guy i dated was written up in all the local papers about his heart and the job well done by the doctors.His family has done remarkable.

I need prayers. Prayers to help me cope better. Prayers to try and enjoy my life more. I wouldn't even mind some prayers for me to get angry. I still can't even get angry and pissed off at him. The pain just seems to override everything else. Prayers that I can realize that I do want to be here alive and well. The dark thoughts are invading my mind again. End the pain, end the pain.

I hope you get angry soon - no person is worth losing your life over. But this is progress - even thinking you want to get angry - and not frantic that the other person will change or change their mind. Looks like a change to me.
Maybe getting angry at the dark thoughts and telling them 'where to go' would be a start. I am not kidding.

My grandfather is home now - for good. Which means, for as long as he behaves. Who know's what's next but I HOPE this means he's on his way to recovery.

Prayers for my mom, please. She has been through two years of chronic sinus trouble with one of her two cats (who belonged to my late sister). Up to a week ago, she had started feeding the poor guy by hand. His character was always constant, but he had been sneezing stuff with a lot of blood...
He had surgery 10 days ago...came home on Sunday. Mom learned to syringe feed him, gave him lots of love...and this morning the surgeon called to say he had nasal cancer. It hardly ever happens, which is why they went ahead with the surgery. The CT scan was done...but it doesn't show malignancy.
There is no cure...chemo or radiation are palliative only...and he had already stopped eating except for being hand-fed.
She worked so hard with him, up three times a night, feeding 5 times a day.
Pyka went to the Bridge at noon today.
Pray she gets a good sleep tonight...pray she has peace. She did everything possible for that dear boy.
Pray for Pyka too.

Prayers, please, for my Aunt. She had emergency surgery yesterday for a malignant brain tumor. She is elderly (82, I think) and far from home. She lives in Indiana and was in Iowa visiting her granddaughter. She is in intensive care, and sedated. If she opts for chemotherapy, she will live 6 months, if no chemo, 3-4 weeks. I spent many summer vacations with her and my Uncle and my cousins on their farm as a child. Any prayers you could send out for her to be peaceful and restful would be appreciated.
Thinking about you all and adding my prayers.
Can I add my mom to the prayer request list? She has some sort of stomach issue (the medical details of which are lost on me) and she hasn't really eaten in a very long time. The only place she can go for treatment is this clinic in San Fransisco, which I guess is good because they are the best place to go for this sort of thing on the west coast. She goes on Tuesday...I hope the doctors are right and that they can fix the problem right then
Donna - prayers for your aunt...as far as predicting when someone might die, my own doctor said to me, "I'm always wrong." Tammy Faye was given two weeks over a year ago.
There is real hope for your aunt to surprise people - if she wants to. My prayers go out to you.

Thank you for the prayers they cancelled the surgery.My dad's blood count was to low so they are going to have wait intil they fix that.My mom's is feeling alot better.They have given her pill to take and that really helps her.Thanks for asking.

Thank you for the prayers everyone. My Aunt is to be released on Monday, and will fly home to Indiana on Tuesday. She is doing okay, but is very confused on where she is. The doctor told her yesterday that the tumor will grow back and she will not get better, but that she has time to make some plans. She apparently is at peace with that. I will go to see her when she is back in the state and is a little more stable. It is a 3 hour drive from me. She is a strong woman, and believes strongly that her God will help her through this. I know He will also. It is still hard.

Any prayers for a safe flight to Indiana would be appreciated. I know she and her children are sooooo stressed. Thank you all.
Donna - I am glad to hear she survived surgery. :)
As for the tumour growing back...you might want to check with a doctor - but I seem to recall that tumours grow much more slowly in elderly people.

How do you deal with it when your whole word comes crashing down around you.. when you have to leave everything you've come to know and love? How do you deal with the pain of a love lost, the feeling of betrayal? How do you deal with it when everything you see, everything you hear seems to carry some memory that brings pain. How do you go on when the person who was your whole world is suddenly cold and unfeeling, just wants you gone from their life, to be replaced by someone else. Everyone says 'there's better out there, there's happiness waiting.' And yet I don't think a shattered heart ever completely mends. Maybe I'm wrong and time will prove more a salve than I think it can.
I'm having such a rough time. Please spare a prayer for me if you can. Sometimes I think the pain will consume me.

I had a fantastic day yesterday. Spent it with my wonderful friends here from PT. I felt like I laughed, giggled and smiled all day. On the way home I got a phone call from HIM. That was all it took. I didn't even talk to him just listened to his voicemail. I couldn't recover though. Cried most of the way home. I hate what is happening. I hate life. Sorry to go on. Jess, I just want you to know that I really do know how you are feeling and I care. I'm holding your hand and squeezing it right now.

Thank you so much for the warm thoughts and hugs. Robin I'm always thinking of you too, praying for you and holding you close in my heart. In fact often when I'm having one of those hard moments I think of you and how you are going through this pain too. When I'm having a good moment I think of you and hope you are having good ones too. I'm glad to hear you had some time away from the pain and got to laugh and have good times with friends. There will be more of that to come, for both of us. For me, evenings/nights are always hardest, when the loneliness is greatest. I will be moving to Illinois as soon as this house is out of my name and I find one down there that is right. My mom and stepfather are helping me and looking. I'll be moving closer to them.
Just wanted to let you all know I'm thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.(((HUGS)))
RobiLee and K9Soul, I am praying for both of you. Believe me, I have been through the agony and pain of a betrayal and love lost. My divorce was final 5 years ago, and the pain has lessened. However, it is hard, even today, as there are always reminders. For myself, I went into therapy, and that helped me immensely. I pray that you will find the comfort that you so deserve and that you will begin to move forward. May God bless both of you.

I divorced in 1988. The marriage was quite short, but still was a kick in the gut.

Jess, I am so sorry that you are going through this as well. I think a move will help enormously. Living in the same place with all of the memories is, I am sure, making it harder.
Remember, both of you, "two steps forward and one step back." You are healing although it doesn't feel like it right now. You are making progress even though sometimes you feel you are standing still. You are both strong women and there are lots of people here who love you and care about you (not to mention five dogs who just think the sun rises and sets in you). ((((More hugs))))
