Keegan got an oxtail last nite - which I won't be buying anymore of - I thought it was a good idea for snack but she throws up that little bone. The other nite she puked on my bed! :(
Right now she is working her way thru a cornish game hen. I pulled off a wing and put it in the cat dish and so far neither wants it! I still haven't decided if they are good deals or not. They are about 24 oz a piece and .12 cents an oz which if I figgered correctly - about $1.19 per pound - which is pretty good. I bought some turkeys last week for .89 cents per pound and then find the same thing at Walmart last nite for .68 cents per pound. ahh well. the ones I bought last week were smaller anyway
Cool I wish I could score some pig hearts! Especially for free ;)

I tried feeding Buck an intact chicken (feathers and all) but he just thought it was a toy! lol! I got some really funny videos, maybe I'll remember to upload them ;) He's eaten them before, but I quit feeding them when we started training for hunt tests. But we're on a break from training now because I won't have any time during the holiday season to meet with our trainer, so I figured I'd give him another whole bird, and he had no idea what to do with it! He just kept throwing it up in the air and rolling on it! http://bestsmileys.com/lol/1.gif
Keegan had a chicken quarter and some pork ribs.
My three are jealous of all of your dogs. Bad mommy, I've been a bit busy lately, working overtime and all, so they've been getting TWO kibble.
I have a WHOLE freezer full of meats, bones, pureed veggies/fruits, etc. but I just don't have the time. I probably have about 30 whole fish that we've caught for them but they haven't aten! It's going to last us foreeevvveeerrr!
I neverrrr post anymore =( and I need to take pics, too. blech. My boys are still loving their Raw, and they eat it about 75% of the time now. I'm really happy with Fozzie's growth rate, which he's almost done growing, both of them are nice & lean and they both have awesome teeth/breath/skin/coat/etc.

Bailey is having a high quality kibble in the morning and raw at night. He was eating 5 pounds of meat per day and lost so much weight. His spine in so visible that you can count every last vertebrae. I am afraid we're killing him, I am scared that he wasn't getting the proper amount of organs/vitamins/minerals/calcium/protein/fat etc. DH says there's no way we can afford to feed him more than 5 pounds a day, so he bought him kibble. Bailey is also losing a ton of hair, his coat is dull and he smells really bad? I am really upset that he has to eat kibble in the morning, but I'd rather he eat that than die from emaciation. He is fed every single day in the afternoon.
This isn't Bailey, I'm too ashamed to take a picture of him. This is exactly what he looks like though. :(

Today they all got a special treat of a pound of ground hamburger each and a pigs foot....they had turkey yesterday:D
Bon looks wonderful! Bailey had diarrhea for a few days, but other than that he seems healthy. We might need to get a blood panel done if he doesn't gain weight from the kibble. I was thinking that maybe the cold weather made him lose weight since dogs burn more calories. It has been pretty cold here and DH takes him for long (he's gone atleast 2 hours) walks in the mornings (on Saturday and Sunday). I have explained to DH that Danes shouldn't take long walks until they're around 1 year old, but he doesn't listen. Maybe the long walks coupled with the cold weather is too much for him?Quote:

Leftover scrambled eggs
Dinner...
A few scraps of turkey and ham

Keegan had beef liver and a chicken quarter Wed nite.
We hit the jackpot for Thanksgiving - my mom and my aunt saved out the giblets and the neck of the birds and then my uncle offered me about 10-15 pounds of venison that has been sitting in their freezer for over a year. It's freezer burnt but Keegan didn't care. ;)
So tonite she had turkey giblets and neck and about a pound of venison.
I have a turkey sitting in the fridge to thaw for a day or so and I'm going to cut it up over the weekend. And I have a large beef oxtail and beef tongue thawing out that I got from my other uncle. ;)
Gotta love family with deep freezes!
Crazy-Cat-Lover, i am so sorry to hear Bailey has been losing weight, i hope the extra kibble will sort things out. Elvis has been getting a cup or so of working dog food/ kibble in the morning to get some weight back on him, he is a skinny boy at the moment aswell.
So breakfast was...
Elvis: VIP chicken and vegies dog roll and a small handful of working dog food.
Clover and Tinny: Small piece of VIP dog roll that Elvie had left over.
Dinner for everyone was chicken mince, couple of pork ribs and a handful of working dog food (We ran out of vegies and everything else was frozen ;) ). Clover also had her supps and meds. E & T had their supps aswell.
I'm so sorry about Bailey losing so much weight. Hopefully he will put some pounds back on. He will be in my thoughts. I love that guy.
My sister came by the other day and gave me a bunch of venison that was getting old. My girls are in heaven they love it.
A friend of ours brought Bailey a package of ground chicken and ground herring. He got a job at Fresh Start - they make packaged raw meat products. I gave him both packages and he loved them! Today he is having...
Breakfast:
1 pound beef
4 chicken backs/necks
Pureed sweet potato, celery, oranges and garlic. I also added some canola oil.
Some pork fat
Dinner:
4 1/2 cups of kibble
omg :( poor boy! I am so sorry to hear that...hope all checks out ok at the vets...Lots of Hugs and smoochies to my favorite merle boyQuote:

Oh my gosh, Tasha, I am so sorry! Poor Bailey!
My crew had turkey again today.
I offered Keegan a beef tongue (which I must say is just about the grossest thing I have offered her! It beats out the the fresh deer liver I got the other day that still had grass on it!) and all she did was lick it and whine. I know that they are supposed to eat big but she has always whined if things are too big for her. :eyeroll:
I was cutting up a whole turkey into meals so I offered her some of that and she took that wholeheartedly. And she got some venison also.
My mom saved the neck, gizzard, liver, and heart for the dogs. I gave Nebo the neck (supervised). He didn't have a clue what to do with it, he licked it, carried it around the yard and crunched it up a bit but I don't think he actually ate any of it. It just ended up covered in grass and I had to go pick it up (gross). She offered them the rest of the stuff later that night (in the yard), Sydney took off with the gizzard in some far corner of the yard. Nebo acted like he was being offered poison when given the liver and heart. It was pretty funny, he spit it out like a little kid who doesn't like their food. Reggie ate one of the livers, and Nebo ended up eating the other and the heart.......after they were cooked a bit. :rolleyes:Quote:

Oh your kidding! No way Roxey or any of the others would have left a gizzard, now liver (of any kind) on the other hand...can't get Roxey to eat it no matter what I do :oQuote:

I've been getting tons of turkey deals lately. I got 2 20+ lb turkeys for about $10 each  Yep...around $.50/lb! Love those deals!!!
Jenny eats Nutro now. :) I am very pleased with it, after 2 cups her teeth were already noticable whiter. :D She's actually been eating it for quite a while, she's gone through 40lbs of it already.
Anyways, so she had a cup of lamb and rize Nutro and (we had a roast) gravy poured over it. yum! :p
I have a freezer full of meats and pureed veggies but haven't have been too busy to feed raw lately. They have been eating their Timberwolf & Moo is eating Canine Caviar.
When I introduce raw to Moo, what would be the best way to feed him, and how much? He is 12 weeks old and around 11 pounds.
When I start raw its about 16 weeks, and its chicken wings. At 12 weeks, I use ground turkey, none lean hamburger, ground in a processor with tripe and a veggie with raw egg and either yogurt or cottage cheese.Quote:

I don't feed my little guy ANY raw foods. Espically bones they can splinter off and do some serious damage to him. So hi meals are pretty borring. He got a 1/4 cup of life's abudence kibble and whatever he doesnt eat I leave out all day so he can snack on it. And the same for dinner. I do an ALL natural diet for him. I know we probly sound really boring but where his breed standard for weight isnt above 6 pounds i dont want a fat dog.

Well both my vet and my breeder told me NO bones for him and where he is so tiny I'm going to listen to them and not take ANY chances
Lately my guys have been getting ground Turkey or Chicken (w/bones) because I've been way too lazy to feed anything else.
I'll have to make a trip out to the store this week and pick up some of the good stuff.. emu, tripe, ostrich.. yummy!
Keegan got 2 pork necks with quite a bit of meat and some chicken gizzards/liver.
After 2 months of raw reading people giving their animals PORK PICNIC I FINALLY over the weekend FOUND IT! I bought 2 and she'll be getting that in a day or so..
