What a sweet kitty! I think that's the first pic I've seen of him. I think I'd be in bed all the time if I were you. Must be fun to snuggle up to him.

Oh sweet Max! How could meowmie not feel better with your cute furry head snuggling into hers?!
Kisses to you beautiful boy. You keep nursing meowmie for us.
Ooh! He's SO fluffy! Who wouldn't want to snuggle up to him?
Dear Slick, just hoping that you had a better weekend..............and I wanted to jump in on this group hug.................you are well loved -
xxoo me
Did I hear group Hug?? count me in! Slick I'm sorry you've been in so much pain but hopefully once you get the sutures out it will start to improve. Glad to hear Max is taking such good care of you...but you don't want Max to work to hard so I think you should request a little at home nursing....I'm sure Dr. Joel would be more than happy to "help" ;) :D Take care of yourself.
*HUGS* Slick you are so very deserving. :)
I'm sorry your having bad days, but it sounds like things are looking up. I loved the Dr. Joel description. Yum! :o :D
And I don't think I've ever seen a photo of Max either. What a handsome boy. :)
Max, sweetie, good to see you are on the job!!! I'm sure if anyone can make your meowmie feel better it's you!!!
Head kissies to you and luvies to both you and your mom!!! :)
For the past four or five days, I've been in alot of pain and the pain meds are only helping a bit. Tomorrow, I get a chest x-ray done at 9:30 and see my surgeon at 10:30 but knowing him, I'll be lucky to get in by Noon. I'll be getting my stitches out (chest tube site) and I'm going to ask him for some stronger pain meds. Not sure if he will comply, but it's worth a try. Not sleeping that well, but getting enough to see me through. Daytime naps are an everyday occurrence here.
I'm eating OK, just not as much which is a good thing as I'm down 17 lbs from just before the surgery. I need to keep on this trend....wish me luck.
I want to thank you again for all the love support being sent my way. For those of you who don't know, MOFF has been emailing me a flower a day. Each day I see a picture of a different flower from her garden. They are truly amazing and I think you should start a thread, MOFF, and show them all off. Love you, kiddo.
So sorry you are still in such pain. Hopefully you doctor will be able to help with that - be insistent!
So sorry you are still in so much pain, Slick. Hopefully the Doctor will give you some pain medicine that will help you handle the pain better.
I will be praying for you, and sending lots good thoughts your way. Get well soon.
Love ya,
Willie
Slick, I'm so sorry to hear that you're still in a lot of pain.:( I hope that everything goes well tomorrow and that your doctor will be able to prescribe something that will make you more comfortable so you'll be able to sleep well and be as painfree as possible. You're still in my thoughts and prayers. (((HUGS)))
I hate to think of you being in such pain. I hope the Dr. will give you something stronger so that you will be more comfortable.
Sending you more hugs!
Aw, shucks, Slick! :oQuote:

Lova ya back!!!
You are getting ready to have that x-ray, right now, and just think of all of there, holding your hand, and wanting to pounce on that doctor until he gets you comfortable!!! :p
My doctor is so good about making sure that his patients do not suffer needless pain. If you're home and not driving, then it is not going to hurt for them to give you something so that you can rest and recuperate faster!!!! You can tell him I said that, too!!!! :D
Love ya, girl! (Can't you just hear my southern drawl saying that?? ;) )
Logan
Yeah, just you tell that doctor what Logan said! :D
Hope it all goes well today.
Slick, I'm SO sorry to hear you're still in pain. :( When you go and see the doctor, don't try to be brave, ask to get a better pain killer! I'm sure it will be good to get the stitches out - hopefully that will help ease the pain too. :)
I'm very busy in my new job, but I'm thinking of you every single day and sending lots of positive thoughts for a speedy recovery.
(((((((hugs)))))))
Sending you some big hugs, dear Slick!!

Slick I'm so sorry you are having so much pain. I've been thinking about you a lot and I'm sending lots of prayers and good thoughts.
The appointment went really well today....I even drove myself there. :o The doc removed my stitches and boy did that ever feel better. The pathology results came back for the tiny nodule that was removed along with the original one. It confirms that it, too, is carcinoid so it is assumed that the other tiny ones are carcinoid as well. However there is good news in that he is not going to do anything about the remaining two because they are so tiny and will not cause any immediate danger. Again, he reassured me that "you will not die from this."
I told him about the increasing pain and he explained it like this. When you hit your "funny bone" you can feel tingling in the end of your fingers. During the surgery some nerves were manipulated and right now they are all talking to each other and trying to get back into order and that's what's causing all the pain. It is a common complaint among women who have this type of surgery. Pardon the explanation but it feels like my right breast is on fire. Along with Tylenol 3, I'm taking 200 mg of Garbapentin 3 times a day and he said that we can increase that by double or triple. So I'm trying that and if it doesn't work we will try another medication.
I have booked an appointment with him in 3 months time and follow up only means that I will need a full CT scan once a year.
Since I was only about 5 blocks from work, I stopped in there to say hello and a bunch of us went for Dim Sum. MMMMMMM, I could eat that stuff every day. :D
So, really this is very good news. The recovery will long and slow but I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to get back to normal again. Today is the first day that I have not taken a nap and I'm feeling OK. Must be the good news......
Probably won't be updating this thread much longer....only if there are major changes. Other than that, I just eat, and sleep, and cuddle Max all day long. The more I cuddle Max, the more he wants. There may be a couple of job openings up here for Max cuddlers....anyone want to apply??? :D
What wonderful news about your visit! Enjoy your kitty and getting back to normal!
Hugs,
Kim ;)
Thanks for the update, glad the appointment went well, and there's a reason - and a solution - for the pain. No nap? You must feel sooooo grown up! :)Quote:

Driving the car, going to the Dr.'s office, out to lunch with the girls...........
WAY TO GO!
I would sure take him up on the increased dosage of pain meds.........but now that the stitches are out - that is one more step away from discomfort!
Dear friend, it is so good to hear this news - all of it!
Give that snuggle buggle and big smacker on his nose. He is doing such a great job.
Hope you have a good night's sleep too!
xxoo me
Great report! Enjoy this time as it sounds like you'll be back to work in no time! Snuggle Max for me XOXOXOXO
I was so glad to read your last up date Slick, so very happy to learn that you will soooooon be closer and closer to a painfree lifestlye !!
I really do believe that your Max has magical powers, and that you two have such a positive bond .
All My Best Wishes for Sunshine and Flowers!!! ;)
Slick, I'm so glad to hear that everything went well and that you received a clean bill of health.:) I hope that by taking the pain meds more often that this will help your pain and you'll be able to get a good nights sleep. I'd love to be a Max snuggler. Please take care. (((HUGS)))
Really this report is great! Out for lunch and everything! I am so impressed with you. :D
Good news on the pain front, but let's just hope that it goes away soon! I certainly would be prepared to help you out with Max cuddling.
I'm glad to hear your appointment went well and that your on the road to recovery. Hopefully now that the sutures are out your pain will start to decrease. Take care.... {{HUGS}}
Wow Slick - I am glad to hear things are going extremely well for you. :) You deserve it!
That was a very good report and update Slick. I'm so glad to hear you felt well enough for all that.
Rest well and happy recovery dear Slick!
So glad to hear you got such good news. Yearly CT scans, piece of cake. The nerves that are firing and causing the pain will settle down in good time, but feel free to use all the meds you need, its a nasty feeling. I had surgery at the end of April this year to remove a lump from my left breast. They took a 24 gram chunk out of me, I'm real tiny so it's real noticeable. It took a good 3 months for the nasty little electrical nerve zaps to go away, they were breathtaking. Nothing as extensive as the surgery you had my dear, but reassurance that the nerves will settle down soon. Rest easy, enjoy the love from Max and feel better soon.
I'm so glad to hear the appointment went well!
Yeeeahhh!! For driving yourself!
Hugs to you and Please hug that sweet Max for me, he's done such a great job making sure his meowmie is comfy all the time!
 Oh QofP, please say it isn't so!!!!! I don't think I can take it that long. Yesterday I doubled the dose and felt a bit better so now am taking 400mg 3 times a day. In a week's time, I may up that to 4 times a day if necessary.Quote:

I took another sleeping pill last night along with the pain meds and had a real good sleep.....11:30pm right through until my bladder woke me up at 6:30 this morning. Man, did that ever feel good sleeping all that time. I've only got 4 more pills left so I guess it's time to wean myself off them. I wonder if over-the-counter drugs would help??
Just heading out to run a few errands and get my walking in for the day. Have a good rest of the week everyone.
Oh yes, and it's a long weekend for us Canucks.....Happy Thanksgiving. :) :)
I'm so sorry to say that it did take that long. But the incidence of them became further apart. Not every time I moved my left arm. But now they are all gone and I don't miss them AT ALL. Yours may be quicker as it truly hit me every time I moved my arm. Every day you're one day closer to being all better. My doctor couldn't give me a true timeline, but said it could take up to a year. I almost clobbered him.Quote:

By no means do I want to take any attention away from dear Phred but I have to update this for a second.
My internet and email have been down today but since the internet is up now, I need to hurry and get this out. Every day when I check my mail, there are cards from Pet Talkers and today I received two more. I would love to spend the time to send each of you a PM or email but because of my pain, I still can't sit at the computer for any length of time.
Please accept this big THANK YOU to all of you who have sent me cards and to those of you who have kept me in their thoughts and prayers, and who have called and emailed, another THANK YOU. It's because of you that I've been able to overcome this and now we all need to target our good thoughts to Phred. He will survive this challenge, just as I have survived mine. Isn't it amazing what the love and support of Pet Talkers can accomplish??? :)
Oh Slick, you don't need to come here to say Thank you - but it's good to hear from you. ;)
I'm really sorry to hear you're still in pain, I hope you'll feel a lot better soon! I'm very impressed that you were drive for your appointment yourself. And I'm SO relieved to hear nothing has to be done about the two remaining nodules. :) Fister is celebrating this with some chicken liver, and I'm having a glass of wine. ;)
Keep getting better girl, I miss you here!
Glad to know it's your e-mail, because I just got an undelivered back, I sent to you on the 5th. Hope the problems will be sorted out!
(((((hugs)))))
Nothing is going to take our minds away from you, Slick. We still want to know how you are doing. You are still in my prayers everynight and every morning. Please keep us updated!
Still keeping you in my prayers, Slick as always.
Love always,
Willie
Isn't Slick clever the way she tries to deflect the attention away from herself?
Yes, there are many people on Pet Talk who need our prayers - and those that do have their own thread.
This is your thread, where we can come and tell you we love you and will continue to pray for your healing and well being.
When we want to pray for Phred and tell him that we care - we can do the very same - on his thread.
xxoo Gini
Yeah, I guess you said it for me Gini!!!!Quote:

Moff taps her foot -
Now Pal, it wasn't even two weeks ago you had MAJOR surgery!!! It takes time to heal from that. Not even you are super women you know!!! ;)
So, try to enjoy your time off, cuddle with Max, and let us spoil you with cards and emails and prayers. The pain will go away with time!!!
Lots of prayers still on the way from me - so get used to it! :D
