Slick, I'm so glad you're home! :) And your first night doesn't sound too bad at all. :) Hope it won't take long until you won't need the pain meds anymore. And good that you have a neighbor looking for you!

Dang....that shower felt good.
More later. No, no, not about the shower, about other stuff like the hospital staff and friends and.....geeze, why don't I stick the other foot in while I'm at it...... :p :D
Talk away, Slick!!!! :) :) :) We're so happy to know you are at home with Max, right where you belong!!!! :D
It's so good to see you home and posting Slick!!!
O.K. Here's a tough one for you Slick.
Which would you prefer - a sponge bath from Joel or a shower in your own home? :D :D :D
So glad to hear you had a good night and that you had a velcro cat.
xxoo me
Oh Slick, it's SO good to know you're back home, and see you post here! :) Glad you got some sleep, but sorry you woke up in pain. :( Hopefully, it will be less every day!
LOL! Max being velcro ... yes, I bet he is! He won't leave you alone for a while. :D I'm curious, was Max trying to wash off the hospital odour of you?
Go for your short walks and eat your yummy food!
I will look forward to hear more!
((((hugs))))
How wonderful to hear from you personally, Slick! Not that I didn't appreciate Gini's uppydates (thanks SO much, Gini!), but hearing from you personally means you're not only home, but feeling well enough to get on the computer. Guess you must have been released in the morning because you were on PT before the end of that day - was I right or was I right? ;)
Sorry for being so absent on this thread. While on vacation last week, we were in a location that had basically NO cell service, and internet service was intermittent at best. Geeze, talk about withdrawals!
But now we're back and I'm ready to cheer you on. Hope your walk went well and the pain subsides a little more each day. :)
very gentle {{{hugs}}}
:D
I'm glad to hear that you are home. I wish you a speedy recovery!
You will feel so much better being at home. I'm so glad you are home, I'm sure you are too. :D (((Hugs))) I have to add, I think your one amazing woman. Your attituide through this whole thing was simply amazing!!
I'm glad to hear your in the comfort of your home and feeling better. Wishing you all the best.
Aww, that's not fair, making the patient make a tough decision like that while on pain meds AND brandy! :p :DQuote:

Now be sure to be pampered by your feline friends, they are the best nurses( yes, better than Joel, lol)
Great to hear from you in person, Slick! I know you had to have a better night at home than at the hospital. I am so happy that you are able to answer us in person.
Hope you have a wonderful walk. Just want you to know that I love you, and will keep you in my prayers.
Love ya,
Willie :)
So glad to hear from you Slick, and to know that you are home and resting well with your very own velcro kitty!
I do have one question:
When is Dr. Joel making his first housecall?????
Quote:
Sept 14th..Hi Gini, I just spoke to Vicki!!
I don't remember speaking to Betty the night of the sir-jury. :o
Don't remember this phone call either.Quote:
Sept 15th..SLICK CALLED HER THIS MORNING!! She said she couldn't talk long because they had her up and walking. She said "CALL GINI AND TELL HER!"
I spoke to who??? When??? :oQuote:
Hi everyone, Friday 9/15 - almost 9 PM. I had a call this evening from Slick's friend and she was able to talk very briefly to Slick and also to Slick's Mom.
Sorry Sis, when did you call???? I truly don't remember....Quote:
By Laurie Sept 16th..I just got off the phone with Slick (she was loaned a phone to take the call, won't have one for awhile). She sounds wonderful (if a bit buzzed ) but was so happy to hear about Kiki Kay, and asked me to send a round of drinks to Thursdays. She was very tired so we only spoke for a bit.
OK, now you are just trying to mess with my mind, right? What conversation did we have??? :DQuote:
By Gini Sept 16th..I just got off of the phone after talking to Slick as well and she sounds amazing. Today she walked up the hall about half way with her physiotherapist and YES she had her fuzzy cat slippers on.
Nomi: Please forgive me because I barely remember you being there. It must have been the drugs...yeah, yeah, that's it....it was the drugs. :D I remember seeing Dr. Pete and the clothes but it's all a blurr after that. I had to ask my Mom days later who had Dr. Pete. :oQuote:
By Naomi, Sept 17th..I'm home! When I arrived she was sitting up in bed and her friend Betty was there. She looks pale, and is in a LOT of pain.
Don't remember a thing about this. :oQuote:
By Gini Sept 18th..I just got off of the phone after talking to Slick. She cut the phone call short because she had to go pee.............
So folks, as you can tell, the first few days are a total washout as far as my memory goes. I truly don't remember any of these conversations....sure hope I didn't say anything nasty.
I've been very tired and very short-winded today. Went for a 15 min slow walk this morning and again around 5pm. These pain meds work great but they make me very, very sleepy and I did manage to have a few hours nap with Max this afternoon. That dear boy just won't leave my side for a minute. More tomorrow about Dr. Joel :D  ....time for zzzzzz's now.
Love ya.
xoxoxoxoxo
Slick, those drugs must be mighty good! So glad to see you here again. Don't rush things and you will be sure to get well.
It's so great to read and re-read your post again Slick!!! :D
Take it easy , We Love you too and want you Well Rested!!!!( oh, about Dr. Joel!!!!) :o :D
Get those needed ZZZZZZZZZZZZZs!!!!!

I was going to say the same thing! You don't remember anything.....except Dr. Joel. Hmmmm...... ;) :D :DQuote:

My dad was in the hospital for an entire month before he was able to come home, and all he remembers are the last 2 days or so. The mind blocks out that which it doesn't want to remember, and as you can see by the conversations you don't remember having ;) you were in a lot of pain and that is not necessarily something you want to remember! I do know they also have drugs that let you function quite normally, but block your memory, so it was either your mind protecting itself.....or it was the drugs. ;) :D
As for being sleepy, again, it may be the drugs, but I think it's mostly your body telling you it needs to rest. The body needs to rest in order to heal more quickly so if you're tired and need a nap, don't fight it. Instead, snuggle with little Dr. Pete and dream he is Dr. Joel. ;) :o :D
Please give smoochies to Max for me for being such a good nurse. :)
Slick, so good to see you up and posting on PT. Be gentle with yourself, take those naps, snuggle with the fur kids and dream of Dr. Joel  :D :p
What a hoot - you call that girl for ten straight days and she doesn't remember the phone calls! HA! Well, "I" remember, and just think how difficult it was to "edit" all that you had to say so I could post on Pet Talk. :D :D
(especially the parts about Dr. Joel]
It's good to have her back home again isn't it?
yea it's great to have her home and I can't wait to hear about Joel and see if he's been making house calls?!
:p
Just heading out for my morning walk and will post about Dr. Joel when I get back but for now I want to share this.
Last night I dreamt that I was bridesmaid at a wedding.......are you ready for this??? Guess who was the bride???
lbaker............
Laurie, is there something you want to tell us??? :D :D :D
   Slickster, YOU were the one on drugs, not me. Next time I'm "committed" it will probably into a room with pads on the walls  Gini, should we tell her about the conference call we had with her and what she said about... nah, I doubt she's strong enough yet ;) :p
Better just tell us, Laurie. Don't burden Slick with unnecessary details yet.
Laurie, Slick, Gini - you gals are killing me! :D DO TELL! C'mon! We're all family here, right? :p
Laurie, I know it has been awhile since we have been able to go for lunch together but I thought you would have said something a little earlier ;) ;)
Just wondering how it's going today, pal???
No fair just calling a few and no one uppie dating the rest of us!!! We all love you, you know? AND we are waiting to hear about Dr. Joel!!!
Hope you are feeling a bit better, sweetie. :D
Momo, please forgive me...for today has not been a good day. I was told there would be days like this but I never suspected it could be this bad. The pain is almost unbearable today and I think it's because I rolled over on my right side during the night last night. Heck, I don't remember doing it.... but my body is telling a different story. I have some extra pillows that I will use tonight to prevent this from happening again. The pain meds have helped a little bit.
I know that I owe so many of you some thank you emails and phone calls but I just don't have the energy for it today. The support you all have given me is truly overwhelming and I have to admit that I just can't keep up. So for today, I turn my focus to Val and Duke along with Lori who is having sir-jury tomorrow. Let's pray for them, OK??
You don't have to get back to me :p This little update is enough to keep me going.
I am sorry that you had a bad day today. So think "Tomorrow WILL be better!"
