Interesting thread. I'm a transplant to California. I'm originally from Indiana, so I can say the thing I love about where I live now(northern CA) is definitely the weather and things to do. I can never use the excuse "there's nothing to do", because I can go to the ocean whenever I want, go to wine country, go to dog parks, visit historical sites (Hearst Castle anyone?), and the list goes on. I also love the diversity. I've been introduced to so many new and wonderful ethnicities/religions/foods out here...it's great!
When I first moved here, I really did miss the four seasons of Indiana at first, but now that I've lived here for several years, I have noticed the 4 seasons more than I used to. I'm not a big city person, so NYC would be out, but I bet upstate New York is beautiful. I don't much care for really hot weather, so southern cal is fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. Northern CA is definitely for me! :D
