If Boomer has never interacted with other cats before, it seems like he is doing amazingly well. That's pretty impressive!

Boomer, you are one classy cat!
Boomer you are doing wonderful! By the time meowmie and big brother get there, you will be right at home and best friends with the others!
I'm so glad to see that Boomer is settling in so well.:)Thanks for the updates and pictures too.:)
Well, I slept with Boomer in his room last night....he snuggled against my legs:) I wanted to make sure he was eating, drinking, etc.
Early this morning I heard him slurping water and using his box. He hopped to the hammock and watched birds for awhile...then ate some of his dry food. I got up and he demanded a long belly rub:D He is wanting out of the room so badly so I think today is the day to open that door and let him roam. We have let each of the kitties come in for introductions and do not see any hostility except for some random hissing and growling. Emily seems to be the one most interested and calm with him so far. He is just the sweetest thing!!
My concern is that he has not eaten much at alll... maybe 1/2 cup of food in 4 days. He did make his first poo yesterday. I have offered him the stinky food I have but he would not eat that. Today I am going to buy another variety and some baby food. I don't want to upset his belly though - can ya'll suggest anything???
We may go out to the mall area and look for the supplement that you mentioned Becky - I can't find that post?? Is this a liquid product?? I think I will recognize the name when I see it.
He is not hiding under the bed anymore - but is still "hiding":)

He enjoys being petted while hiding:D

Yup - it's Boomer!! SHHH...he is hiding
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/Im000025.jpg
He looks a bit saucer eyed here but was actually quite relaxed and contented. I can't wait to see how he reacts to having his Meowmie and brother with him finally!!:D (Thursday night!!)
LOL At first I couldn't find him in the picture...I kept looking at the carrier and expecting him there (I don't have my glasses on).
This has got to be one of my favorite PT stories. Everyone who helped out in sending Boomer to the US are quite extraordinary..and Boomer is very lucky to have such a wonderful Meowmie, Grandmeowmie and Granpaw.
Please keep the pictures coming! I LOVE this thread and it always brings a smile to my day..I have to check through it several times.
Nutrial Cal (there is another brand that is cheaper, same ingrediants called Nutri Stat that I purchased). Comes in a tube.
I strongly suggest getting it soon because this stuff really helps the appetite. Very high in calories too.
Can you purchase what he was eating in Japan? Better yet have your daughter pack what he was eating and bring it with her. That way you can mix old with anything new.
Boomer is doing so well! I bet he will love to see Missy and Tyler again :D
Boomer seemed to be getting attached to Tyler. I'll bet his world will come together when he sees them again.
Such a heartwarming thread!!
Boomer is so beautiful - and he does seem to be adjusting quite nicely. I bet he does miss Tyler and Missy though.
Words cannot express how happy I am that he is with you!
You heard him slurping water? WOW - the only one in my house I usually hear is the d-o-g! ;)
If you are buying baby food - try the meat sticks they have in cans. Kloe LOVES these.
In all the excitement over Boomer, I **forgot** Missy and Tyler weren't far behind! Maybe Boomer is just a little lovesick, and won't eat until his 'family' arrives? Not that you aren't family...but, you know what I mean...I hope!:)
I just can't get enough of Boomer!!! That picture of him 'hiding' under the cover is hilarious, that boy does have some big eyes!!!
Now Boomer, you have to start eating more; you are going to make your grandmeowmie worry if you don't.
no pictures this post - just and update - we bought some veal baby food and boomer chowed down on that - now has eaten half of his dry food so i feel much better. more poo in the box, too. becky - boomer has been eating the same food at his home....same litter too. good thought!
boomer's door is open now and everyone has been coming and going with only isolated growling...boomer is hiding again!!:D as above.
gini and Joh - I also think boomer is a bit homesick and will be happy to see Missy and tyler - we will suffice but nothing better than familiar folks when everything in life has changed!!
That's is for now - maybe pics tomorrow.
You can tell he feels like home :)
Indoor cats like Boomer are more attached to the people in the home rather than the home itself.
Mango, Bubbles & Peaches, all indoor cats, recently moved to new digs and there was hardly a ripple in their lifestyle since the people they know and love were there. They just had new places to explore. Bubbles always hides behind the pillows or under the covers on the bed so she and Boomer would get right along!
My mom's indoor/outdoor cat, a Russian Blue named Binky, seems equally attached to her as he is to his home (his territory maybe?) and would probably be hard to move to a new place.
I suspect Boomer will be much more settled and more brave once Missy & Tyler are with him.
Thats a good start "isolated grawling". LOL
Glad Boomer is eating and peeing/pooping on more regular basis.
I'm happy to see that Boomer is settling in and getting used to everything.
The pictures are so cute, keep them coming!:)
Oh Debbie, it warms my heart to read and see how well Boomer is doing. YYYYYYYAAAAAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!
He is such a handsome big fella and I bet he will be so happy to see his meowmie and baby brother this week. :)
Boomer is very beautiful! Bless you for taking him into your home, I'm sure he will be very happy! :D
How long is TOO long to not eat?? Boomer has only eaten twice that I am aware of - maybe 1/2 cup of his dry food. He has poo'd twice and they are small amounts and hard - constipation??
Any suggestions? Is there something to get his bowels moving? His belly does not seem distended or tender as far as I can tell. Missy and Tyler will be arriving tomorrow night so that may just take care of what is ailing him!!:)
I just don't want to risk a sick kitty you know? He acst normal except for so little eating. The door to his safe room is open and he does venture out a few times a day. The sirrahkitties are totally fine with him - no hissing or aggression whatsoever. They either ignore him or try to play but give up pretty quickly.
Thanks!
Better add a few new pix!
When Boomer walks around, Emily normally follows him. She really seems to like him and I have seen them laying near each other and she even got in a head lick!

Boomer still appears very cautious when he is exploring but I did not even expect him to leave his room yet...

Maybe try adding some Metamucil or pumpkin to the baby food you are giving him.
Scritches to Boomer.
Awww, its so great to see him out and about already!! Emily is such a sweet girl...how nice! :)
I bet he'll be fine as soon as Missy and Tyler come home. YAY!! Can't wait!!! :D
Please make sure to have the camera ready for when Missy and Tyler get there. I am anxiously awaiting his reaction when he sees them.
Boomer, don't pretend you're not hungry. You didn't get to be a big boy by only eating 1/2 cup. Eat up, sweetie!
Thinking about his lack of appetite... I know after a long flight (as long his flight) that I am not quite myself. I'm tired and out of sorts for a number of days. Boomer is probably suffering jet lag and confusion all at once. I am sure that once he's back together with Missy & Tyler the latter will be less of an issue.
He is quite the handsome guy!
That is too funny about Emily following Boomer around. Didn't she and Eliot do the same thing to Dylan when he arrived?
I don’t know what it is, but I have this problem every time I fly, especially overseas.:oQuote:
He has poo'd twice and they are small amounts and hard - constipation??
You should be able to find some kitty- laxative at the pet store
The pictures of Boomer and Emily are precious. She is such a sweet girl.
My females would never be that friendly to a newcomer.
Come on, Boomer, crank up the appetite, dude! You don't want to greet your meowmie looking like a skinny guy, do you??
I'm so glad they are all getting along so well, esp. on such short notice.
Aww, Emily, you're a good girl!!!
Sounds like Emily is your official good will ambassador. :D Every home should have one! :D As for food and poo's, I agree he may still be out of sort with all the changes, I'd keep an eye on him and see how he does once Missy & Tyler get there. As for the small poo's, since he's not eating much, he probably doesn't really have a lot to get rid of.
Girl kitties!!

Yes, pnance - I think Emily is the good will ambassador...

Boomer is now out and about and part of the crew - found another hammock in the front dining room...

Back off buddy! *I* was here first!!

Eliot is such a playful kitty and so wants to play with Boomer - I am hoping they will become buddies. Everyone is really getting along well. No cuddling yet but Boomer has only been here a week now and I am thrilled at how well things have gone. Sirrahkitties have made me proud. Boomer seems as happy as can be - considering his world has changed completely. Tonight...Meowmie and Tyler!!!:D
Oh drat. I got my days mixed up and thought Missy and Tyler were arriving last night and was hoping for pics of the happy reunion. ;) However, I'm not disappointed in the least by the pics of Boomer making himself to home. I'm glad he found the hammock because he seemed to so enjoy the one he used to have.
Can't wait for reunion pics! :D
T & P - I did the same thing - I thought they arrived last night and not tonight.
Boomer is doing so well - that is amazing how in just a few short days he has just slipped into the team and is doing fine.
Dying to see the pictures of Tyler and Boomer together again!!!
Debbie, you are making such wonderful progress introducing Boomer! Would you mind coming to SC and taking some time to work your magic on Mimi and Butter, who have lived together for over 4 years, and still don't get along??? :p
Logan
I think once he sees Missy and Tyler he will be back to his oldself.
Wow, that is some major progress in a weeks time for a little guy who has never seen another cat. I've never had smooth or quick introductions - everyone acts like wildcats here - so I'm just blown away.
I bet he will be back to 100% once Missy and Tyler arrive.
Oh boy, Boomer, soon your meowmie and little brother will be with you! How happy you will be!!
He is really fitting in so well with your kitties. Guess they're all laid back!
Nice photos. Boomer is a good looking kitty.
