Kay,
I sent a picture of Chica to the web site for the PT calendar.:)
[email protected], is that what I am suppose to do?
Chicas mom:)
ok, here it is, I entred for october, although it does not matter too much, I only chose october as its the month of her birthday.
I should be able to get one in any case as I should have a job by then :)
I added both Chica's Mom & Cali to the entries. :)
Actually it isn't $40.00 it's $30.00. or $30.42 today. And if you were to go to the calender shop to by one you would be paying the same thing. This way money is going to a shelter to help animals and you get to show off dogs from all your PT friends.Quote:

Kay don't do that. If you only charge $14.99 then how would the shelter be getting any? I think everyone wants to help the animals not just support the website. If you really want to drop the price you have to cover the cost of the calender and shipping and make something for the shelter even if it's only $2.00 a calender.Quote:

I was thinking the same thing. Part of the fun of this calendar is showing off the dogs other people (at work or friends) don't get to see. And giving some of the money to the shelter is a good idea, I don't think anyone was aware of that originally. Even if the initially mentioned price is a bit steep, you can still add $5.00 or $2.00 or whatever to the price, and have a nice donation.Quote:

Kay, is there a way that people could pay the lower price to the website and then make an additional donation for the calender, either thru the site or through you? I think that may keep everyone happy. I know I'd donate, too. I always do for our local shelter, I'd just spread it around.
*edit - just thought I'd explain for those who have never published, that short runs are ALWAYS substantially more costly that long runs like the professional companies do. Custom designs always cost more.
And personally, Kay, I think you do a wonderful job on all the graphics you create & use - I'm sure the calender will be nicely done!
I agree with cyber-sibes. I'm not sure how check-out works for cafepress, but an idea would be that the intial price is 16$ (so 2$ per calender goes to the shelter MINIMUM). However, on the check-out page, the buyer can click for an additional donation ranging from 5$-20$ more. This way, a MINIMUM of 2$ goes to the shelter while keeping the oppurtunity to donate even more. The bottom line is, we all love animals and we'll agree with any price you choose.
HI! I just sent you 2 pics of Beenie.
They are both really similar.
This is a really great idea!
thanks
We did a calendar for our therapy dog group, and put about 4-5 pictures on each page, with a collage on the front. i thought it turned out very nice, and if you want, I can try to take and post some pictures of it so you can see it.
Whatever you decide, I will submitt a picture, and I will buy one.
ughh... I cant choose! >.< I hope we can enter more than 1 picture! I'm going out right now to get some pictures in the flowers :)
I like the idea too and will be trying to figure out what picture to send in. As a thought.... I have a Golden calendar I got from a local pet store and they charged $20.00 for it. I really like it a lot because it has the main picture full size and at least two little pictures on the actual calendar page. Usually one on the right top and one on the left bottom where the calendar has room according to what day of the month it starts and ends on. That would give you three dogs on each month! (I hope I explained that good enough).
I'm sure you will produce something of quality and it will be worth every penny that is charged. If someone doesn't like it.... they don't have to participate or buy one. It's always the few who ruin it for the many so don't let it bother you Kay. Just do what you think is best and if it comes from your heart... it will be fantastic!
I'm very interested in buying a PT dog calendar! Even if my dogs don't make it in.
I don't know if my favorite pics of my dogs are large enough. I'm going to be really disappointed if I didn't save them in the bigger size :( But I understand that they need to be that big for good quality. I'm going to kick myself if mine aren't big enough. I'm not at home right now, but I'll check my pics on my computer when I get home on Tuesday.
Let me know if you need any help, Kay. I'm not sure what I could do, but if there is anything, just let me know!
Kay,
I think this is a great idea. YOU always make an effort to please EVERYONE - sometimes you just can't!
I will look for a pic to submit, in anticipation.
I also like the Collage idea for the front!
I'll be sending my entry in soon. But Kay, could we maybe enter 2 photos that way we at least have a fair chance, because just one is hard, but so that the same dog doesn't get choosen for 2 months. ;) Do you get what I'm saying?
For everyone with concern about the price~
Although there were only a few kill joys, i'm going to keep the price at $14.99 - plus the $4 they charge for shipping. I was told if I want to donate to the shelter that I should give them the money that I spend at stores.
I'm going to see if there's a way I could make two seperate ones, one with extra money for the shelter, one with the $14.99 price. Hopefully that will keep everyone happy and stop them from complaining.
No, the rules say you can only enter 1 photo. There is a reason I said that, as I plan to put everyone on the calendar no matter what. There is no way a dog could be in there as 2 months this way, only if you entered 2 photos! If two photos are sent, i'll choose between the two of them as what to use.
This is something like I'll have the set-up..

The #1 voted in the contest will be in the middle, the other entries will surround it.
Please everyone send in th FULL SIZED picture! Some of you are sending in smaller photos and I cannot use those. It has nothing to do with me, but the way they will print if they aren't of a large size.
I'll buy one even if my pups don't get in.
I'd love to send the one I used to have as my sig of Harley and Sylvia in their dog bed, but now I have Morty. I can't leave him out! When I leave work I'm going to work on getting a photo of all three pups if it's not too late. This is a great idea Kay. :D
Hey Kay, I was wondering if the picture I gave you was the right size. I didn't check on that. I sure do hope so.
Anyone here know how to change the size of a picture?
I have tried and tried but can't get it to 1600 x 1200 pixels.
:(
Yes Robin, it was fine.

Changing it (resizing it) will make it pixelated.
Is the photo you sent me the original? I mean straight from the camera original. I know most camera have size settings, mine has 4. What type of camera do you use?
I could always try and use it still, but I don't think it'll print correctly. The size I suggested is smaller than the size they suggest.
A friend is trying to resize it now.Quote:

Yes, it is the original picture from the camera.
OH lord, I can't rememeber the camera .... it's an A4 cannon, I think. Does that sound right?
I'll resubmit the pic once it's resized. Thanks for answering.

Yes, I've seen the size changing thing on my camera beofre. But nwo I can't find it! I searched for 2 hours last night!!  I have a Canon PowerShot A510, does anybody know where I can change it?
On most digitals there is a settings button. mine says SET. But it may also be in the menu of your photos button. When you turn on your camera to take a picture you should have a menu button. Click it and there you should be able to change your size, quality, and all that stuff.
I think this is a great idea. I will buy several for Christmas presents. I already have some cheap-o printer copies of some of of the pups on my wall at work (Nala, Simba, Kiara, Drake, Duke, Lolly & Reece and a few of Glaciers, Nebo... oh - a few others) but I would love to have some quality prints on a calendar. Actually I would have to have two for me - one for home and one for work. Is there a short time limit? I think Slick can help me finally figure out how to do this when I see her at the LA BBQ. I'll bring some of the disc's I have been getting from my dog (and cat/kitten) pictures. Finally
OK, I think that I resized my pic. No possitve though
I have sent mine in.
Sent you mine!
I think for Canons, you turn on the camera so that it is ready to take the picture. Then, you press the Function button and keep pressing the down arrow until you see a row that shows letter abbreviations like S and M1 or something....These letter abbreviations stand for the size of the pictures (for example, my M1 or something is 1600X1200). Then, you use the side-to-side arrows to choose the correct size (again, I just placed the highlight on M1, or 1600X1200). No computer re-sizing needed! :)
sent mine:)
Oh Thank you Giselle! I got it now! :D
I've hardly been on all weekend, this is the first I've seen this thread. I have to go through my pictures (though I have an idea which I'm going to use) and I'll be sending it to you as soon as I choose.
I'll update this list sometime today, but I just wanted everyone to know the calendars will probably be available by September/October, according to cafepress.com.
Currently they have 2005 calendars and they told me that's when 2006 calendars will be available.
I would love to enter a picture but I am afraid my picture isn't big enough:(
Kay, I sent mine in! :D
Kay, I have a favour to ask of you. Is it possiblt to keep Lexi's entry picture but move it to another month? I'll PM you with the new one! :)
*EDIT-- I can't PM you, because your mailbox is full.
Updated the list, Paula, you should be able to PM me now.
I tried, and your mailbox is full again! :)
Kay, have you recived my entry?
Can I just post mine right here, please? I also resized it. Is it too blurry or dark to use? I'll try a different one if it is.:(:)
Edit: Could it be for Febuary or January?
