My Friend,
I'm so sorry I wasn't here for all this, sweetie. :( My heart was already very low when reading about Tinkerbell...but aboult fell out when I read about your Squacky! He was doing so well, honey...all because of your love and care, of that I'm positive.
I'm so sorry, honey. If I can do anything, let me know. OK?
Hugs,
Kelly
Hey there Sis, I just want you to know that you remain in my daily prayers. You know where I am if you need me.

Oh Tonya, I'm so sorry to hear all of this. :( All of those things are hard to deal with individually, I can't imagine all of that at once. Big {{hugs}} from me and a kiss from Nebo. I wish the news from the vet about Tinkerbell were better, at least her mother will be there to greet her when the time comes. :( :( I know she is a really special part of your family. I'm so sad about Squacky too, I really loved the pics on LJ, what a cutie. Please know that you did everything to care for Squacky, don't blame yourself. I hope everything is ok with K'Cee too and it's just pigmentation....also sending well wishes for the great pyr, poor guy. :(
If you ever want to talk, I think you have my number...if not I can give it to you
A little background, first:
The clinic we use has 2 vets, Dr. N and Dr. S.
I WORSHIP the ground Dr. N walks on (he once brought Clarice back from death's door).
I REFUSE to use Dr. S due to things that happened with Sophie and K'Cee.
Last wk, the earliest mom could get in was w/ Dr. S; she took it.
Dr. S gave mom the bad news. Tinker's bloodwork showed two SKY HIGH (so high the machine wouldn't even "rate" them) levels of ?? (mom forgot what), which indicated kidney problems. Mom asked how bad Tinker was and Dr. S responded, "Really bad." She also told mom that they all they could do was "give Tink fluids and keep her comfortable." Mom agreed; Dr. S gave Tink a "dose" and then had mom make an appointment for another round on Monday.
Today, when Mom took Tinker in for her fluids, she saw Dr. N.
A vet tech, came out and was making over Tink... mom asked him how often would we need to give her the fluids/how to tell when she needed them. (What she was really fishing for was, "How much should I put her through?") He looked at her kind of funny and said, "these are dialysis treatments - she's not dehydrated."

So, long story short, Tinker goes back everyday this wk for treatments. This will help to flush the toxins out of her body which will begin to make her feel "normal" (increase her appetite, etc). At the end of the treatments (and I don't know if they meant on Friday or Monday), she'll have another blood test to see if the levels of ?? dropped.
If they can get at least one to come down, the problem can be controled thru diet and meds and, "being a siamese/himalayan mix, she should live to 17-20 yrs."
This of course is a BIG *if.*
Dr. N said it there was "a small glimmer of hope" in that she is responsive to her surroundings and to people. Indeed, she has perked up since last wk (her eyes look sooo much better and she's purring/"talking" more) but she's still not grooming herself or eating much (although she did beg for raw hamburger tonight)... nor does she want to be held.
It's a small step forward but I'll take it!
I'm trying NOT to get excited about this but... I can't help it... it's the best news I've had in 2 wks.
Please keep those prayers coming! Thanks so much!!
Zip
Oh Tonya, I've been logging on to PT all day waiting for an update. I sure don't like the sound of that Dr. S. I can't believe that your Mom was not given the full explanation the first time around. Also, perhaps she was referring to the BUN levels. That's usually the first number that tells what shape the kidneys are in.
I just don't see how you CAN'T get excited with this news. I just know that all these Pet Talk prayers are working and little Tink will be back to her normal self in no time. I know that I'm not there, but my gut tells me that she is not ready for the RB yet...and my gut usually does lie.
{{{hugs}}} Sis.

Ditto what Slick said. I'm so happy there's even a glimmer of hope for Tinkerbelle! :)
I talked to Shais_Mom on the phone around lunch time today, she said, "Sounds to me like Dr. N needs to do some house cleaning." Thankfully(?), that's happening.
Dr. S will be leaving but it's by her own choice; her husband was transferred out of state. However, until Dr. N can find a new partner, she's filling in 2-3x a wk to help him out.
I feel really mean for "bashing" Dr. S ( :o , :( ) -- she's a super sweet lady with a very compassionate soul... I just don't care for her vet skills.
Tonya,
I'm glad to hear that Tinkerbelle is doing better and
I hope that these treatments will be able to help her. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent your way. (((HUGS)))
I'm so glad Tinker is feeling a bit better. Prayers are continuing for her.
I'm also glad your vet has decided to do some spring cleaning, so to speak. It doesn't matter how wonderful a person is, sometimes they just aren't suited for certain jobs. I hope Dr. S, finds the right job for her when they move.
Glad to hear the news about Tinker is improving!
Just wondering how Tinkerbelle is doing these days. Does anyone know?
St. Francis of Assissi, the patron saint of animals is close by and watching over all your sweet pets. Many prayers are being prayed for a positive outcome.....
hey tonya..
I've been waiting too, sometimes "no news" are not good! hope to see your good updates coming up..
and..zippy! I have about a half smile on my face, because I think your squacky have sent us something here! :) I know he's injuried too but he found me...us.
hope it'd be okay with you for me to name him after your squacky... I know how devastating this can be!
(((tonya))),
gina, squacky II & her ark
Tonya, prayers and good thoughts are on the way from Tennessee to you and your family. I hope everything starts going better for you.
Willie
Thanks for checking on us, guys. Sorry I haven't updated before now - I just really haven't felt like posting much.
It's been 2 wks, 1 day since Squacky died but it seems so much longer than that. I sure do miss that lil' squirt. He was doing so well, I'm not sure what happened.
One of his "babier" pictures:

I have more I would like to share with everyone but I can't look through/post them yet; it hurts too much.
Staci (shais_mom) sent me a silver squirrel charm that I wear constantly. :)
As for Kissiekat... we still haven't had her nose checked yet - will do that on the 27th. That's the earliest appointment I could get her when I called. (Doc S has completely quit now so they're trying to work her appointments into Doc N's schedule.) I really feel it's nothing but, for my peace of mind, I want it looked at. Here's a pic of it:
http://webpages.acs.ttu.edu/tofisher/kcee_09.jpg
(She was takin' a bath... or maybe blowing raspberries at the camera!)
Now, for dear Tinker... :(
Her counts have gone down but not much, not as much as he'd hoped anyway. She has good days and bad days, though I think the bad out number the good. When we'd first started the dialysis, she perked up and gained a bit of weight; she's lost that now. She's anemic and her red (or maybe white) blood cell count is down.
We're giving her the dialysis (subcu-fluids) treatments at home now and they've mixed in a potassium solution. She's also on procreatin (spelling? to stimulate production of the blood cells) shots, pepcid-type shots (to soothe any sores in her mouth or stomach and perk up her appetite), and liquid antibiotics. She HAS to feel like a pin cushion (granted, the two shots are actually injected into the subcu mixture).
I think the Pepcid-stuff burns her; she all but howls when we inject that.
I don't know how much we can rightly put her through but we've come too far to just stop. Doc N still feels that, if we can get her to a certain point, we can control it through diet and meds. While she is (S L O W L Y) showing results, but... I dunno. :(
Her next appointment is Monday.
This was from one of her perkier days:

Does anyone remember Sid? I think I've only posted his picture once. We got him from the Humane Society right before we had to have Clarice PTS. He's a dork! :D I'll throw a couple of pictures in for good measure:
http://webpages.acs.ttu.edu/tofisher/Sid_09.jpg
He likes to wear that feather boa. And bottle tops are his allll time favorite. lol

To show off his markings:

That's about it from us. Piper's still being "weird" and refuses to come out of his cage; he's not as sociable as Miz Sophie was. And Sara's the same ol' silly Sara! I have pics of them but they're still on the camera.
{{hugs}}
:)
Good to hear from you, Zippy!! ;)
The FurKids remain on our Purrayer List ...
Glad Tinker is holding her own and making some progress!
K'Cee looks as CUTE as ever -
we'll vote for that *spot* being a Beauty Mark!
Sid ??
So he's a bit *odd* with his wardrobe ... adds "character" to the herd!
Squacky ...
I'm sure he's R.I.P. at the Bridge ~
Krackin Nutz for God ... Mom has prolly got him workin for her
in God's Kitchen - Krackin Nuts to use in her cookies!
{{{HUGS}}}
And Bowser sends a big *Waggity~WAGG*!!
;)
Thanks for the uppydate, Zippy. :)
So much to cover....
What a cutie pie Squacky was! So sorry he was called to the bridge so soon, but I'm sure he's having a great time at the RB with Sophie and Clarice. :(
K'Cee's spot does look like a birthmark type thing, but since it has just recently appeared I would have it checked out too. Better safe than sorry.
Who could forget Sid, especially now that we've seen his "other side." ;) :D In the first pic he looks like he's sucking on a pacifier - too cute. :D Sure glad he's bringing some comic relief to your house.
As for Tinker :( sorry to hear she's not improving. Sounds like exactly what happened to Tubby except that it progressed much faster with Tubby. His red blood count was extremely low at the end. I guess first it's the kidneys, then the other organs (like the liver) stop functioning correctly also. The body starts forming new white blood cells to counteract the affects of the kidney and liver failure and eventually, if left long enough, there would be no red blood cells left at all. She is such a beautiful kitty and I hope and pray that she will let you know when she's had enough. :(
What about the Newfie? Any luck in capturing him?
Zip....I've been worried about you since you've been so quiet lately. Thanks for posting the uppydate. I just know that Squacky is enjoying life at the RB and is eternally grateful for the love you showed him. Bless you for rescuing this little furbaby when you did.
As with the other opinions, that sweet little spot on K'Cee's nose looks like a freckle or beauty mark...best let the vet confirm that. In the meantime, may I please kiss that precious pink nosie???
KISS KISS KISS KISS KISS KISS
Dear Sid....your new wardrobe looks devine however don't you think it's a little "feminine" for a boy like you??? Oh I get it....you are "man" enough to wear anything! Kisses to you sweetie. My gosh, just wait until Mz Edwina sees that boa. She will want one for heself.
Glad to hear that Tinky is hanging in there. I know how hard it is to watch a furkid grow older. I pray that she will be with you for a while longer. When the time comes, seek comfort from your friends and all of us here.
You forever remain in my prayers, Lil Sis.
slick xo
I know why Sid likes wearing that boa! He's playing "lion in the jungle" and it looks like a mane!
K'Cee is as adorable as ever. I'm voting for a beauty mark on her nose. Fingers crossed !
I'm sure Squacky is lots of help at the RB. He got to experience the love of a human. Not something every squirrel gets to do. I'm sure he is grateful for all you did for him.
Prayers still flying for sweet Tinker. Give them all a kiss from me, ok? Even shy Piper!
Hi Bowser Boy! There's a certain someone who's having a burstday in October... rumor has it that a certain New Mexican and a certain Californian might be there for it and (possibly) a dog park meeting. No definite plans yet though!
We had a big thunderstorm the day of that post... I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since. :( Poor guy! :(Quote:

Slick... you don't know the half of it. ALLLLL his favorite toys are pink and he has more wiggle in his walk than I do.... we'll leave it at that. ;)Quote:

I've always felt my Kissiekat was very intuitive and "in sync" with those she was overly fond of...
K'Cee and Tink have always been good buddies but K'Cee and Sid ... well, K'Cee tolerates Sid (most of the time - sometimes she can resist a good thwack at him).
When we first got Sid, K'cee was mean to him. Then she mellowed out and tolerated (almost to the point of playing) him.
Before Tink was taken to the vet, K'Cee started being MEAN to Sid again and wouldn't let him into the same room with Tinker. We honestly think she was trying to "protect" Tink.
After we took Tink to the vet and she perked up a bit, K'Cee was mellow again. Lately, K'Cee's been in a huff (though today she's pretty quiet). So, we sorta gage Tinker's progress based on K'Cee's actions. (I hope that made sense.)
Because Kiss loves Tink so much, I'm worried about what she's going to be like when Tink passes to the RB. But HOPEFULLY, that won't be for a long, long time yet.

Here's some pink for my sweetie, Sid.... ;)
And here are some hugs for you, Tink and K'Cee. I hope the vets can give her something that'll put her where she was last week.
Hugs,
Kelly :)

I hope Tonya doesn't get upset with me updating this. This is a c/p from her LJ...
In the short time I've been up, Tinker's gotten progressively worse. (And K'Cee's started being ugly towards Sid again.) She went to the litterbox, made a dribble, went back to her bed. Mom got her up -was going to cuddle her- and Tink's bed was soaked. Mom set Tink down so she could gather up the blankets for the wash; Tinker walked from Mom's bedroom to the hallway, dribbling all the way. It wasn't that her fur was dripping, it's that she's lost control of her bathroom functions.
We have 2 litterboxes in the utility room, a BIG (open) one and a smaller covered one. Tink got inside the big one and tried to poop. Nothing came out. She got inside the little one and made one small poop (Piper makes bigger poops).
When she lays on her side, she's doing this odd thing with her back foot. We're wondering if she's in pain.
I don't think we're going to give treatments today.
please keep them in your continued thoughts, prayers and well wishes. Healing vibes, anything.....
thanks...
:( They are still in my prayers. ((((hugs))))
Prayers on the way for Tinker and Tonya. :(
:(
Please, God ~
Be with Tinker, in her time of need ...
And please offer Your Comfort to Zippy, 'Lyssa, Mom & Dad.
Thanks God.

You and your family are still in our thoughts and prayers.
Sending comforting thoughts and prayers your way - I understand how painful it is to see beloved pets slowly fail due to illness.
Oh my gosh, how quickly my moods can change here on Pet Talk. I have tears running down my face and I just don't know how to comfort Tonya right now.
