p.s. I know beggers can't be choosers, but if someone wants to help me get the cats from Ca to Az, that'd be great. It's not going to be fun to take a newborn and 7 year old on a long distance drive.
Very exciting if this can work! Tonya, I know your heart is just in pieces from this whole ordeal, but a foster home with Aly seems to be a fabulous solution.
Um, can we get road trip pictures! We love you allllll!
I just remembered I have to pet-sit this weekend. Let me see if I can still make it though.
Ok I can pick up the cats when you get in on Friday night, Alexa has a spare bedroom where the cats can stay overnight. Then I can head out to El Paso early saturday morning.
Aly and Laura, you two are saviors. Thank you for saving these kitties. {{HUGS}} to you both. Aly, I wish luck to you in finding them homes. Being around dogs, they're probably be okay to place. (or so i'm assuming and hoping!)
Thank goodness for Aly and Laura!
Thank you all so much. I'll sleep much better knowing that they are in your hands, Aly. I know that you take such good care of the animals. It's a shame I haven't been able to find something here. I'll check back online tomorrow.
Yeah, dogs don't bother them. And aside from the occasional airplane ears when he cries, they don't seem to mind the baby.Quote:

Thank you very much. Can you see if your friend can help with the california-az stretch at all?Quote:

My heart goes out to you. You're doing the right thing, even though it hurts so much. Your son comes first. He always will. I know the furkids seem like our children, but they aren't.
Your flesh and blood come first. You must see to his health. The furbabies will be ok elsewhere. He won't. I know how hard it is to lay there listening to him cough all night long, your heart breaking for him.
Bless you for trying so hard to rehome them. I'm hoping and praying that it will work.
Karel
Aly won't be able to make it this Saturday, so Tonya when you bring me Ron and Raven they will be fostered by me and Alexa for a week. Then on Sunday, May 1st I'll be taking them to El Paso to meet up with Aly.
Alexa and Laura really saved me. I was here about to have a heart attack. The woman I'm petsitting for doesn't trust anyone but me to watch her babies. She has a ton of animals and its not an easy job, or I'd ask my mom or boyfriend to do it. Anyway, thankfully it is all worked out - PHEWWWW! I'm scared about the long drive alone so hopefully it will go smoothly!
Do you think Josh or someone else could ride along? I'd hate for you to feel uncomfortable driving alone. If I lived closer i'd tag along!Quote:

Aww thanks :) I MIGHT get Josh to, but I think he has a deadline at work that Monday so he may have to be at work all weekend. If he could come, I'd feel TONS better. I'm nervous about finding a hotel alone and stuff too. I'm such a wimp :o I'd come pick you up, but then that drive to Florida would be quite scary, hehehe.Quote:

I obviously can't help with the transport but if anyone needs some money for gas or cat food while they are staying the week in AZ let me know...
Tonya, if there are certain things you would like to send with them, I'll make sure they go to their new home (toys, beds, etc). Also, if you could bring their litterbox, that would help. Its not a problem if you can't though. I will probably keep them in my spare bathroom for a few days to settle in before I introduce them to everyone. Are they up to date on shots and everything?
You are so sweet to take these guys for Tonya.I know how upset she must of been. This is the first time I read this thread.I'm not on Pettalk as much lately.I have 14 cats already.I don't know if I could handle more.Maybe, but I'd drather not if possible.I'm glad you can foster them.Quote:

Tonya, I had hopes, but unfortunately, I was too late. They left for two weeks Friday.
Hopefully everything will work itself out and your two little ones will live happily ever after..
I hope your son heals quickly.

Thank you for your offer. That is very nice of you. I think we'll be ok. My problem was finding someone to take them much more then monetary.Quote:

Wow, PT in action again. It's enough to make me teary eyed. :)
Thank you sooo much Aly and Laura, you are both saviors and I'm so glad everything is falling into place for these two. :)
You both are angels! :) I hope everything works out. :D
I just got an email. I don't know which rescue group it is. I'd updated their fliers with the April deadline at the beginning of March and I've also emailed alot of people. But anyways, I just got this. I hope it pans out because it would be less traumatic if they didn't have to travel.
Hi Tonya,
I am sure that we can help. I have to talk with the Supervisor at the Shelter to get them into the "system" and hopefully we can do it without you having to take them to the shelter. I do need to know if they are spayed and neutered. I will also need copies of all vet records that you have so that we do not revaccinate them if they are current.
Give me a day or two to talk with the people I need to and I will let you know what we can do
Wow what a great thing to do...sorry i am in the wrong country but I will be rooting for you:D
Looks like the cats may have more than one option. I am glad as it is sad to need to rehome your pets.
I just saw this!! great news for the day!! this is definitely better than shelters I gave you, tonya.. :) maybe you should take a lot more pictures before they go...? again, keep up the good luck -
That is awesome. I am so glad you two came through for Tonya. Good luck!
Aly & Laura,
If I can help transport in any way just give me a shout. Aly just call me if you need anything. I can meet you somewhere, leave my car, and ride along with you if Josh can't go. :) You WILL NOT be allowed to drive alone, young lady! :D
Looks like there may be at least two good options for the cats to avoid the kill shelter. Which ever works out, it is great to see PTers once again coming together for the sake of the animals.
A HUGE thank you to Aly, Micki and Laura! Its so great you all could help. :)
Goodluck on whatever journey is chosen Ron and Raven. You'll always be a special part of PT.
I read this when Tonya first posted and I just cried. I could do nothing to help, but true to form the wonderful PTers have come through again!:D
Prayers are on the way for Ron and Raven that everything works out the best for them. Thank goodness they are not going to a kill shelter! That thought broke my heart.
Keep us posted everybody and let us know what the plans are.
Wow! I just got done reading this thread, and once again am overwhelmed at the power of Pet talk! Tonya, I hope the shelter that contacted you knows the urgency of the situation, and doesn't leave you (and Laura & Aly) hanging just as plans seem to be working out well. Long distance driving scares the daylights out of me as well, and it would be nice if there were a few extra drivers to shorten the journey, should Ron & Raven be going that route. ;) I'm glad they won't end up in a kill shelter as they'd be killed first. So many kittens, and so few good homes. I'm way out on the East Coast, so of no use as far as transportation goes, but am saying some prayers that everything goes smoothly for all involved. :) PTers are the best! :D ;)
What a wonderful offer. I know having the shelter come through would be the easiest solution for everyone involved, but now that we've got so many people willing to help, I almost hope the transport takes place so the rest of us can cheer you all on. ;) But like I say, the shelter would save a lot of wear and tear on a lot of people, so hopefully they will come through, and not leave everyone hanging like QSA says.Quote:

Tonya had a family emergency so I'm not sure when we'll hear more. I'm not quite sure if she'll be taking them to that shelter or not, but I'm still prepared to take them in for as long as needed. I actually cancelled on a foster dog I was supposed to pick up this week just in case I do get them (don't worry about the pup, he's in another foster home). If she ends up placing them in the no-kill, I might go to my city shelter and rescue a cat or two in Ron and Raven's honor. I'll wait until I know for sure what is happening though.
Thanks so much everyone for your prayers. And thank you SO much Micki for your offer. I just might take you up on that. That'd be a fun road trip with you and we could both meet Laura!
Thanks, Aly.
My father in law commited suicide on Monday. I will still need to rehome Ron and Raven, but now is not the time. We are to tore up with this loss right now.
We'll talk about the cats later.

I'm so sorry!
:( ((((((TONYA))))) What a sad and anxious time for you!! You are pulled in all directions. Prayers offered just now for you, your family and husband's family and for the folks here who are standing ready to help.
more ((((((HUGS)))))))
My sympathys to you and your family.
Oh Tonya! ((((HUGS)))) for you and family. My step Dad committed suicide and I know how hard that is on the ones they leave behind. The guilt you are left with is so heavy. Just remember this, if that is what he wanted to do, nothing anyone could have done would have stopped him. I intervened with my step Dad and got him help but he STILL did it 6 weeks later. It is NO ONES fault and there was NOTHING anyone could have done to prevent this!
They are ill when they do this and I believe God does not hold it against them and they are let into heaven dispite this last mistake.
