Gas Prices . . .

I've seen more hybrids on the road because of the sustained rise in gas prices. Personally, I think the best thing in the long run would be for oil to go high and stay high; we had made real progress in the US in energy reform in 1980; then the oil glut caused the bottom to fall out.

Heating oil suppliers are offering biodiesel (same as #2) for heating oil. Mine doesn't yet; I may switch to one that does. Still costs the same, but it's from renewable sources.

There's a guy in our area who fills his diesel truck with filtered used oil from MacDonalds! This stuff is usually costly to dispose of; this guy gets PAID to put it in his truck. Some racket, huh?

Our all-time high today.......$1.069/litre......:eek:

Gosh, gas prices are just too high for me! I'm not sure I'll be able to afford to drive into work everyday when I'm filling up at the pump 2 (sometimes more) times per week at $35 each time!!

The gas prices are still hanging at around $2.60 (it fluctuates up and down from that price during the day) for the cheap stuff...:eek:

I'm seriously considering taking the train, because this is just getting rediculous!

Up to $2.65/Gallon for self-serve unleaded today here in Burlingame, CA. OUCH! I remember paying 24.9¢ a gallon back in 1969 - and we didn't have self-serve back then; that was the "full service" price! Tells you how old I really am! :rolleyes:

At least my new car is now broken in enough so the mileage is up to 30 mpg.

I was thinking of taking public transit into work a couple times a week but I'd be paying $6.50 a day for that ($3.25 each way). I drive about 40 kms a day and I'm sure the cost is about the same. Not only that but the bus that takes me from the skytrain to home at night only runs every 30 min so if I miss the connection, I get to wait around with drunks and duggies for next bus. Not a comfortable feeling.

It's up to at least $2.30 a gallon here now. When will it end? Are we going to see a repeat of the 70's? I vaguely remember that and sure wouldn't want to experience it. Got a taste of it at hurricane time, though.

I was just complaining yesterday on my LJ about gas for the car I just got..............$60 to fill it up. :eek: :eek: And I only bought the car so I could carry more then one dog at a time. I think the dogs need to come up with some gas money now. LOL ;)

I wish, now, we had public transit here.........I think I'd have to take it.

It's so expensive now. I think in Tucson it's now around $2.35 a gallon. Alexa is going to get a scooter this summer, it gets about 100 miles to the gallon. If I could afford it I'd get one too, I'm sure over time it would pay for itself.

In Pittsburgh, the average price for regular unleaded is between $2.17 & $2.19 a gallon. Boy I wish I could keep my rental car, a Nissan Sentra, it has great gas mileage. As a matter of fact, a Nissan Sentra just may be my next car!!

What happened to all that Iraqi oil that we went to war for????

I remember reading all the bumperstickers that said, "It's the the oil, stupid".....

I'm still waiting.

Blame it on the OPEC, they are squeezing us because they don't like the idea of democracy and capitalism in their part of the world.

Blame it on the oil companies and then blame it on the people who refuse to have an oil refinery built in THEIR back yard....


Then BLAME GWB for making you buy that gas guzzling SUV.;)

I want to bike to work, the problem is the street I'd have to ride on isn't bike friendly. I'm too scared I'd get hit by car since it's the busiest road in town and there is no way I could avoid it.

My ex was hit by a car while biking to his last job, spent 3 weeks in a coma, 6-7 months recovery, and has lost all movement and 95% feeling in his left arm. We're thankful the guy was mature, he visited my ex in the hospital many times.

$2.25 here in SE Louisiana yesterday...

$2.50 in Seattle over the week end, it was $32 to fill my tank. Tom's truck has two tanks................ We used most of it to go see the tulips about 200 miles round trip. So to finish out the work week I have to buy it again.

Our prices have gone up since this thread started. Today regular unleaded is at 104.9 per litre. Converted to gallon = approximately 4.30 canadian per gallon or 3.50 USD approximately per gallon

It's about $1.05 (Canadian) per litre here.

1 US gallon = 3.7854118 litre

1.05 x 3.7854118 = $3.97 (Canadian) per gallon


So.. it's about $3.20 (USD) per gallon here.

Ahh, that's helpful Ash lol. Now I can finally figure it out.

So in American money, the gas in Kelowna would be around $2.45 a gallon.

it's about $1.15 AU per litre here. it went up to $1.20 last week but cam down pretty quickley

I live across the street from a gas station. Everyday I check the board to see how high it's gotten. Right now it's down to $2.11/gallon.

$2.37 is cheap compared to what we're paying here in the San Francisco Bay Area - heading up to $2.75 for self-serve unleaded! :eek: :rolleyes:

IN SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CALIFORNIA THE GAS FOR REGULAR IS $2.51 PER GALLON AS OF RIGHT NOW. :(

I just stopped and got gas at a station for $2.15 for regular in Pittsburgh.

on way to school today, waaaa my car's thristy again and I had to pay $30 for her drink! ($2.72 near san jose) UGH UGH. I remember when she was a baby til a few months ago (when gas price started jerking up), I NEVER had a drink for her more than $16....(I've had her for almost five years now..) :(

I wish they were this cheap here.:) The cheapest I've seen is $2.53/gallon for regular unleaded. Most of the gas prices are $2.65 or higher.:eek: A co-worker told me that she heard that they're supposed to be going down in price soon. I sure hope she's right.:D

Actually ours just dropped from $2.35/gl to $2.17. Never thought I'd be happy to say "Hey, our gas is ony $2.17":rolleyes:
