How about calling the DOTD THE HAPPY CANADIAN?
Or is that what we call Slick?
Boy is it ever refreshing to come in here..........no one is mentioning the "B" word, or the "K" word, or the "D's" or the "R's.
I really don't think I could take it if we had presidential elections more often!
Richard NO! I am not going to practice yodeling for next weeks trip!
I would like two Happy Canadians - one for now and one for later.
(Slick, leave it alone!)
Eh???? ROFLMAO!!!! :D :D :D Oh God I'm laughing so hard I'm choking!!!! Gini, you really "crack" me up!!! :D :D :DQuote:

Edit: Good morning everyone. It's really too early to go banging around so I'm just going to help myself to a Spanish Coffee, stoke up the fire, then "cop a squat" as Laurie would say. Work is so busy and have no time during the day to come to the bar so I had to set my alarm and get up early just to join you.
Edit again: Did you guys know that our outstanding bartender has a birthday in two days??? Sorry Richard, just had to blab.:)
I need a gallon of coffee this morning...
*Yawn* Im going home after work and going to sleep lol
DJ, I could use some of that coffee too! I'm still sleepy, even if I did sleep all night, I still feel like I could sleep some more.
DJ, I see you aren't wearing your cat on your leg today!;) LOL, I can still see that picture in my mind, and still laughing about that!:D
Willie:)
Oh no, Remus did his leg attack rutine today. He nearly got squished because he darted in front of me without warning! Stupid cat...keeps me on my toes though!
Ummmm.....don't think I even want to go there! ;)Quote:

Giinniiiii<whining> why won't you yodel with me? Huh? Yodeling is fun, especially in the Alps. :D
And of course I have a story about yodeling. One time when I was probably like 10 or 12 years old or so, I was just goofing around and sang out "little old lad-y who" in a yodeling tone of voice. My mom turned to me and said "Don't call me and old lady!" in a scolding tone of voice. I just cracked up and she couldn't figure out what was so funny. ;) :D :p :D
I'll have a Spanish Coffee to start the day too.
Hey, has anybody checked on MOFF? I tucked her in on the couch by the fire yesterday and haven't heard from her since! It's kind of a cold damp icky day here today so she might not be feeling that great yet....better go stoke up the fire for her.
One of my dogs yodel... maybe you could harmonize. She - Collar[flower] - makes a little oooooo mouth then yodels her little heart out. I love it. MOFF? Oh MOOOOOFFFFFF?
*oh dear, you don't suppose she sleepwalked into the L&F do you* I was going to make some creamed chipped beef on Patty Shells for breakfast. Makes your tummy go MMMMMMM on a cold rainy day. And boy, is it ever cold, wet and nasty this morning. YUK.
Debbie - you really just don't want to hear me yodel!
Laurie, that stuff you are cooking...........there is another name for it where I come from!:D :D
Yes, let's keep an eye on MOFF today to be sure she is warm enough........except......where is she?
Good morning all!! I finally have caught up on my rest . Hey I think I ate too many rings I feel a little gross. I almost have all my correspondacnce caught up . Just 2 more one to a very sick freind(dying of multiple cancers) and one to my new pen pal. How about a cup of cocoa today.
Good morning everyone. I have the week off which is why I haven't been around much. But it is Thursday so I wanted to stop by.
I'd like a nekkid beer and a toast to the fact that at least there is no recount this year. Also, I'm so very glad that the "get out the vote" phone calls have stopped.
In keeping with the surreal when it comes to voting - here in the vote by mail state my husband and I got out our ballots on Monday and voted while old time Star Trek was on the Sci-Fi channel.
Turns out we cancelled each other out for our presidental votes - just like we did in 2000;)
Connie must be so warm underneath her electric blanket and kitties that she isn't quite ready to move yet! I don't blame her one bit! It is chilly (nothing like some of you are experiencing) and rainy in SC today. I would like to be snuggled in my bed, surrounded by my furry kids too!! :)
Wake up, Connie! Hot chocolate or tea, whatever is your pleasure, is waiting for you!! :)
Gini, we call it that other thing too but when serving in puffed pastry instead of on a "shingle" it just seems too refined to call it by the "other thing" :o Hi Logan *waves* extra rich hot chocolate coming up for you and Connie - marshmallows optional (assuming Mario left any behind from last week). Anyone else?
Did someone mention HOT COCOA??? Would you believe I tried working outside in the rain, trying to clean up leaves on the golf course?!?! I feel like a frozen Davidpsicle!
Onion rings!!!Quote:

KYS,

You can set the chip platter on the pool table! The spills aren't as obvious!:D
Gini,
Two happy Canucks.....
We'll just dress you up as a Swiss Miss and make you eat chocolate!
DONE!
Slick,
I'm ignoring you........And I thought 'dropping boys in the pool' was bad.
DJ and Tray....
Two gallons of coffee!!! Doesn't anyone eat donuts around here?
DONE!:D
T&P,
Cafe Espanol for you!
DONE!
Laurie.
I just had a biscuit and gravy.......I left room for the SOS......Gini is to polite to say SOS.
Corinna,
Cocoa for you.......Marshmallows????
I think Mario left THESE alone.
CATLAND!!!
LOLOLOLOL, Last week I was running around the radio dial (IS it still a dial when you have a display???) and a caller called into a talk show. The host asked for help in pronouncing the name of the town she lived in......Yep, it was YOUR home town!!!!!
I LMAO!!!
Nekkdi beer?
DONE!
Hi Logan.....
What a crappy game last night...... Looks like we are in for a so-so year.....
Can I get you something?:)
I'M BAAAAAAACK!
All the TLC from you all plus an afternoon under the electirc blanket and cats, helped a lot. I even went to bed at 8 last night and the cats had mercy on me and let me sleep until 5 am!
I celebrated by going to the grocery store this morning and getting locked in when the power went off. It finally came back on (well, DUH! HERE I AM).
I'm fixing home made veggie soup for lunch. Any takers?
Can I get 4 catnip teas for my fuzzy bed warmers? and a cherry ginger ale for me?
Did Mario be good while I was out? Somehow, I doubt it! ;)
You know what sounds good today.. a mug of good coffee with some Bailey's :D
Mmmmmmmm......homemade vegetable soup! Yummy! I make a creamy version and add cheese (since I'm from Wisconsin you know, eh?) ;)
Glad you're feeling better MOFF. Lauries SOS in a refined pastry sound yummy also. Hmm...yep, according to the clock on my computer it's 12:09 which must be why I'm so hungry!
Here, David, I'll put another log on the fire so you can thaw out a bit. Then I'm off to lunch! Now I have to find somebody who serves a good bowl of soup......
I would love to have those vegetable soup recipes..............
I have a meeting here next Tuesday......at 6 M - since it is chilly here and soon to be raining again........the soup might just hit the spot for everyone.
MOFF - there isn't anything like a pile of kitties and an electric blanket. Glad you got out of the grocery store alright.
Aw, Richard, I am NOT too polite, it just is that I would rather not be thrown off the board for calling a spade a spade!
SOS or SOpastry shell.......same thing to me!
I want the recipe for the creamy version, Debbie, if you don't mind! I like cheese, as does my family, and I love vegetable soup. Is there a recipe you can share by email or PM, or even right here??
Logan
*gasp* You mean there are people who DON'T put cheese in their veggie soup? :eek:Quote:

My veggie soup is just a throw in what you have, type of recipe.
I just use a can or two of chicken broth, a bag of frozen mixed veggies (or several cans of mixed veggies - not drained), a can or two of tomato sauce, any other veggies like potatoes and onions that you want to toss in. Add water to cover the veggies and cook until veggies are tender. I toss in 3 or 4 slices of cheese and let it melt before serving.
Today's soup has baby carrots, a bag of frozen mixed veggies, one can chicken broth, a can of potatoes - not drained, and a can of tomato sauce and a can of water. Then 3 slices of American cheese tossed in after that cooked. It's really easy and you can make it as thick or soupy as you want!
It's a great way to use any left over veggies or ones who are aging fast!
:D
I do a similar thing but simply call it "refrigerator soup". It's usually made the day before a big grocery store trip in order to make room for new food  Add a touch of this and a splash of that and don't even TRY to write down a recipe ;)
I do similar to MOFF except I make a white sauce and add it to thicken the soup and make it creamy. I do have a recipe at home...somewhere....I think....I'll look tonight when I get home and post it if/when I find it. My mom - who gave me the recipe - uses fresh veggies like cauliflower & broccoli but I just use the frozen. So much simpler and just as good.
Couldn't find any soup for lunch so I had a salad. Blech - salads are no good on cold damp days.
I think I'll take a nice steamy cup of hot tea to warm my innards after that. ;)
David,
Hot cocoa!!
DONE!
Hi MOFF,
I'll take a bowl.....yummy!!!
K9...
Cafe and Bailey's!!!
Slick makes great homemade Bailey's!!
------------------------------------------------------------
I love this soup.
It's fast and easy.....You just have to chop some veggies.
1 bag of split peas.
Three stalks of celery
Two potatoes.
Three carrots
1 large onion.
1 cup Ham or 1/2 cup chopped bacon
Prepare the peas
Overnight soaking or place the peas in water, heat to boil and turn the pot off.
Chop all the veggies. Add to the peas.
Add the ham or bacon and cook for about 1.5 hours.
Grab some bread and eat.
You can puree or strain the soup before you eat.
DONE! ;)Quote:

Your soup sounds great too! I'm going to try it soon!
:D
Richard, that sounds similar to my Navy bean soup but I use chunks of sausage instead of ham. I make split pea soup too, great way to use up leftover ham and I always have some dried beans or peas in the cupboard. Wow, now I'm ready to go home and start some soup for dinner with some sourdough bread!! Enough of the food already, let's have another round... Is everybody having a rainy, dank day? I heard it's even raining in parts of California.
All this food talk is making me hungry! Think I'll go have some soup too! It is kind of cold out today.
Sigh, don't you hate it when a song comes on the radio that reminds you of a person you would rather forget?
Baileys, with a hint of coffee please...and maybe something to take the spaz out of my cat lol!!
hmmmm, catnip tea would either spaz him out more or put him to sleep, it's a toss up........
thought I'd stop in before going to lunch ... and now I want soup too! :)
Another round.Quote:

DONE!
DJ,
Bailey's splash of coffee!
Let me find some Spaz remover!!
The most satifying sound to a cook is the sound of a spoon scraping up the last drops of soup they made.
:D
Its so funny I was just making split pea soup to have with the wonderful sourdough bread that Richard sent me. Need a good warm up as it only reached 34 degrees to day. we had a great 22 last night. Guess it is winter now here.
OK, just dropping in for a quite minute and grabbing an ice water to go.
Call me stupid, but I don't get this. I just hope there's a joke in there somewhere.Quote:

Hey, JC welcome to the bar. You might want to watch out for Mario, he likes to fling cherries. Oh, and be mindful of Remus. He might trip you!
Wellcome!!Quote:

The rules are as such..
Rule one,
The outside world stays outside!
Two, you owe the bar 1 clean joke!
Three, there are no more rules.
--------------------------
Scooby snack for you!!
DONE!
P.s. HOW DO YOU milk a coconut???
Richard
Milking a coconut requires patence and a good pickup line!
Good pickup line??? you lucked out! I had to buy mine dinner!
A "clean" joke, eh? OK....
What do you call death with a broom?
