I just had a similar conversation with a friend today. My thoughts are this: It's possible that the attorney for the previous child and his parents said that if the case went to trial that there might not be sufficient evidence for a jury to convict. Perhaps he/she recommended they take an out of court settlement. You have to look at how diificult it is to get a jury to convict, especially with a celebrity (OJ, anyone?) How about that ridiculous case in Galveston with Durst. It seems that members of a jury practically want a video of the crime but then the prosecuting team would have the burden of proving the video wasn't doctored.
