chihuahuas

Hi amoore,
I think that animals can sense when we are feeling unhappy or when we are sick, Lindsey my 17 year old that rescued Grover for me, used to have a Chihuahua, by the name of Bart, and anytime she go sick, he was right there sleeping on top of her. She lost that little dog when she was nine years old, it wondered out to somebodys elses house and they gave it to their aunt, who gave it to her daughter. We posted pictures in the newpaper and offered reward for his safe return,(and think about this, I had put a tattoo in his ear, so he would be easily known by us) and the first person told us he had gaven it to his aunt, we went to her and she told us that it had been there, but had ran off, and was probably dead. Then we go a call from an unknown person that told us this woman had given the dog to her daughter. I has a deputy sheriff go down and question the people and found out that the daughter gave it back to her mother and then sold it to a man in Alabama, and when we called him he said it had ran off. He was going to use Bart as a breeder, I don't know if Bart actually ran away or not, but the Sheriff's deputy ( who knew the woman that took it from my little girl) told us we just as well leave it alone. This old woman stood right in front of my little nine year old daughter who was crying her little eyes out, and told her that her little dog ran off from her house and was probably dead by that time. :( :mad: I was so very angry when I finally found out the truth. Her daughter and me had a very heated conversation on the phone where I told her, he mother would go to hell taking a very loved puppy from a child. My little girl left a letter to Santa asking him to please bring Bart back to her, that was all she wanted for Christmas, it broke my herart because I knew she would never get her little friend back, that took such good care of her when she was sick or sad. But yes dogs and cats do sense our emotions, or at least thats what I think and believe. So I know that Tiny does give you a lot of happiness and joy, so just go ahead and call her tiny clown. :D

Tiny's mom, I know you know how precious all your babies are, but for the record, I want to tell you that they are all beautiful and I see each of their unique personalities in the pictures that you post. I'm so happy that you have all of them to love and be loved by, and that they are there to minister to you emotionally. I have the same gift from my little April alone. She is the one out of all of ours that fills my life in the same way that you describe of all your little babies. Yes, I love Floyd and Lil' Ann, but Floyd is kind of set in his ways, and I really wander if he will ever allow touch or show any kind of affection? After all, he is eighteen years old. Then there is Lil' Ann. I am not able to get real close to her because as soon as she sees me she nearly knocks me down, and it would be too bad if I were to end up with a broken hip on top of all the other things that keep me down. I was a bit angry with Ann for awhile; months actually. She broke free from where we were keeping her several months ago, broke into where we kept the big beautiful "Butter", the duck in the picture in my signature. My son , Blake and I were very close to Butter and had him since he was a tiny little yellow duckling. It just seemed so violent. Since so many months has passed, I find myself caring for Ann and loving her, even though I just didn't want to after she did what she did to Butter. Here I can some what relate to the losses that Grover's mom describes in her story so well. I love your stories about your babies, Grobver's mom, I could read them all day. I felt the sorrow you described as I read it. Please keep your stories and pictures coming. And Tiny's mom; you write about your deep love for your babies in such a beautiful way, that I can almost see into your heart. Please don't be discouraged anymore about the problems with your pictures and our peers reactions. I was in that boat too, but it is behind us. We are new here; what could anyone expect in the beginning? Perfection? No, and really, they didn't. I think that you add great things to pet talk so don't give up! You have too much to offer here. To this I am sure everyone will agree. :) So perk up, and tell us more! Attach more pictures for all of us to see.

Tray & anothiona , thank you for your replies . I feel terrible for the heartbreaking loss of your pets that you have suffered . I have lost some too , that I loved very much ! Those sweet loving creatures stay in our hearts forever ! Their memories keep bringing us joy and sadness . Oh , but I'm glad I had my time with the ones that will be in my heart forever .
I'm sorry for a little girl having to suffer like that over her puppy , it is even worse that an adult was the cause of it . For someone to steal a pet of a child or an adult is shameless ! But that was a child's pet ! Cruel thing to do !

Would any of you chihuahua lovers be able to give me any tips for inexpensive chihuahua sweaters? My mom has a little 2.2 lb chi and I was thinking of making her some sweaters for Christmas.

amoore and micky I have never posted on her but have read for about one year. I think it is interesting that we are all so close together. I live in Merkel, who is playing Sweetwater in football tonight. I am between Wylie and Sweetwater.

April sounds like a real dollie! I just love sweet little lap dogs. I don't know why I decided to go with bigger dogs instead - guess you can't have your cake and eat it too! I know what you mean about cats disappearing - that happened with some of our cats that we had years ago. No clue what ever happened to them! Once we adopted 3 kittens, and we had them indoors, and one day during a thunderstorm they just vanished!!!! We checked the floor vents and closets and everywhere. They never did turn up - ???

My chihuahua is the first dog of such small size I have ever owned . Like you, I don't know where to find clothes that small ! I know I have got to come up with something before cold weather sets in . I can tell when there is a chill in the air she starts shaking . I guess I'm going to try to sew her some little clothes and tailor them for her . So far i wrap her in a baby blanket when she is cold . :)

KiKI, Wow ! We are neighbors ! I go to Merkel a lot ! I love Merkel . The brick streets there are pretty and old style ! . We will need to talk some time . Nice meeting you ! Merkel is closer to me than Sweetwater . Go Badgers!:D

I heard that there was a pattern for making them sweaters out of tube socks! I'm going to do an internet search and if I find one, I'll post it!

edit: I just tried to find it. The only thing I found was a reference that said "Used the cuffed part for the neck, and cut holes of the appropriate sizes in the appropriate places for the legs.

Hmmmm - I don't have a chihuahua here to measure! If you make these successfully, can you measure out the locations and sizes of the leg holes?

It would be so cute to use different types of holiday socks, wool socks, argyle etc. etc.

There are patterns that you can either knit or crochet, that are good, but the tube sock would work fine, my youngest daughter always used socks as sweaters for her babies.
Now my older daughter was finally talked into taking chihuahua for a pet, now they have her spoiled rotten, they dress her up for Halloween (as a bat or an angel) and here is a picture she took of some kind of sweater she put on hers. Her chihuahua is a long haired chihuahua, she is very beautiful, of course her mother is my Buffy.

Stacwase :I love all your pretty babies in your signature . Thank you, I will try tube socks for her. There are some neat ones that would be pretty ! I know she will like some kind of clothes when winter hits .

:D What an adorable picture of Tiny AND her toes! She is a lovely little baby. I could look at her pictures all day and never get bored. I believe her colors are not so common in chihuahua's are they? She is just a gem! PLEASE, share more pictures of the beautiful Tiny.

I appreciate your ansers to my comments...I liked this answer to my question about whether that was a white heart..."it's a sweet heart". That is so sweet. I know you love your babies. Thanks for inviting me to view your album. I will as soon as I can. I will probably do that now, as if I don't, I may never get to it. So much going on right now, I am having a hard time keeping up in here. :) You large babies are a treasure too, even if you can't have them in your lap. You still find away to hold them close and love them as I can tell from reading your comments, it is obvious what your big babies mean to you. I love hearing everyone's family stories here.

I'm sorry about the lost cats . I know how hard that is ! I once had a sheltie that our neighbor stole out of our yard and gave away to someone in another town . Broke my heart, our neighbor taking my Poochie and then giving it to someone else . I was looking for him for days . I did not know for a week or two that she had done that ! Sorry for your heartbreak, Anathiona .

Don't say you are a bad speller just because spelling anathiona doesn't come natural to you, who does it come natural to? Just me, since it is the middle name of my little angel daughter, LaKesha. I don't know anyone who spells that name easily. :)

Tiny is always sweet - she wants to play on me,sleep on me and love on me . She does not think I should do anything else but entertain her . She likes to crawl into the sleeves of my robe while I'm on the computer ,with her nose sticking out at my wrist . She is now learning to fetch the ball. She sure loves that game !

Tiny is always coming up with cute things to amuse me . Last night she came up with a new game ! I was just sitting around watching her play . She comes running up to me and I shoved her forward in front of me like she was a toy car ,she runs a circle back to me and wants me to shove her forward again .She kept that up for an hour ! (Where does she get this energy ?! ) she was so cute ! When I take her outside for her walk, on a leash ,she likes to run circles around me fast as she can . I just keep changing her leash from hand to hand . She loves this and she gets some good exercise. As you can see by now she is a funny puppy . She does keep me laughing and amazing me with something new . She's my clown puppy .:D

It seems like all dogs offer us so many things that keep us happy and entertained . We are so lucky to have these wonderful creatures in our lives . :)

I really don't know what kind of siamese Sunny is . I got his mother from a pound; they were fixing to put her to sleep . She looked like a long-haired version of siamese, and Sunny's dad looked like a ragdoll type of siamese . All I know he is a sweetheart !:D

Aww that little game where she likes to be treated like a toy car is so funny! I love it! I bet it is so much fun to watch and play this game with her! LOL:D

She is funny to watch do that . I know the neighbors hear me laughing at her funny antics!

I have a 6 month old long haired chihuahua, Lola and was wondering if anyone had some pics of older long haired chihuahuas, i don't know how long her hair will get and have seen so many variations.....

She is not in Pet Talk but her mother is and can tell you anything you would like to know about them . Trayi52 , Grover's mom . She has had chihuahuas for years and has had long hairs herself . I have a picture of Angie's dog that trayi52 sent me of Angie's longhair . I thought I would Post a couple of pictures of some the long haired chihuahuas I have adopted out to one of my friends, and one is of my daughter's chihuahua Willow.The First one is Willow and belongs to my daughter, and the second one is Sabastion and belongs to my friend Becky. It's not a sarcastic face. It's an eye-rolling face. I take it to be the same thing as rolling your eyes and laughing when your kid or you dog does something silly and cute.

I was telling her that my dog Pepper does the same thing her dog does. It's a cute, silly thing to do. When Pepper does it, I laugh and roll my eyes at her. Wouldn't you?

Thanks. She's a goofy little thing. She is chihuahua and smooth fox terrier, most likely. She was abused when I got her, and it took her a long time to come out of her shell. But she's a trooper now.

The only thing that really comes to mind is luxating patella, a problem with the knee cap. It is somewhat common in small dogs.



I have attached a picture of one of my former rescue chihuahuas, Remington.

Remington is beautiful, I love the dark eyes and the black nose. I do love Chihuahuas, they are such a loyal breed, and the saying about their courage is true. I guess you know that already though don't you? If they were the size of a Doberman........, But yes I love the markings on Remington. Hope I spelled that right, if I didn't I am sorry. My memory doesn't last from one page to the next. LOL.
I must say Pepper is a real cutie, but I guess you know that too. :) Well I have told you things you already knew, so I guess I will be quite. LOL:) ;) :D

Omg! Toto , Pepper and Remington and Lola are soooooooooo cute ! Tiny is sitting in my lap thinking she would like to play with them ! She has got a chihuahua grin on her face and is wagging her tail !
