Praying for Killian and wondering how he's doing today.
*hugs*
I'm still thinking of you and Killian Sue, and keeping you in my prayers and thoughts.
Sue, I just read this post today. I am so sorry to hear about Killian. Keep us posted. We're with you in spirit.
Sorry for taking so long to update. Will post a short note and get to you later.
Waiting for Dr. Ball to call me (Killi's regular vet). The other doctor sounded to ominous about the results of Killi's tests and I need to talk to Dr. Ball about them.
His results on the bile acid test, which measures liver function was a whopping 193 with 13 being normal. Not good.
Have to go pick up medicines after talking to Dr. Ball, so I'll update further. Please continue the prayers. Apparently Killi needs them more now....
Hugs to all.
Still praying, Sue. Hang in there!!!! :)
Still praying for Killi, I hope Dr. Ball has good news for you!!
Just talked to Dr. Ball, the vet who has been taking care of Killian and she has me calmed down a bit. She said that we know Killian has liver disease and he will probably die from it, but she thinks that this is a severe episode (with all new symptoms for Killian), but she thinks we can pull him out of it. She understood the other vet's concerns (and rightly so), but knows that Killian is a fighter and we don't know when he will die, but she thinks it won't be now. Whew! Killi is still not feeling well at all, but he has new meds and we'll see what happens next.
I also got a way to contact her (the regular vet) on her days off!!
Please continue the prayers because we are not out of the woods yet (but now there is hope).
Hugs to you all!
Thank you God! A little more time left with Killi! Sue, our prayers remain with you and your special Killian.
Will never stop praying for dear Killi. Hang in there.
Much, much, love and many hugs.
Chris

Hopefully our bestest pal will start feeling a little better very soon. Prayers are non-stop, 24/7. We love you Killian SO much. HUGS to my dear friend Sue and Killian.

Praying for a speedy resolution to these new troubles for dear Killian. Prayers too for strength for Killi-man and for all his family!
Why does love have to hurt? GRRrrrrrrr!
Thank you everyone for the much needed prayers. I really appreciate it so very much.
Also, thank you so much, dear Sandra, for walking me through this horrible disease. You have been a great support (behind the scenes as well as on board)!!!!
Liver disease has so many aspects that effect so many body functions, it makes my head spin!! ( all you liver disease people will see the humor in the end of that statement). I am trying to relax a little. Killian is still listless with funny looking eyes, but he still gives good kisses. The battle is not over, I've got my armor on and I'm grabbing my credit card to run out the door to buy all the new meds. The trick will be to get him to take them!
Sue, you tell Killian that he bedder take his medz for his Mommy or I'm marchin' over there and, and, well, I'd probably just cover him with kisses:D BUT, Killian, beware of Mommy's wearing armor!!
I hope you get a little rest tonight Sue. You are armored, that's for sure. Armored with courage, devotion, love and the most amazing reserve of hope. Killian sure is his Mommy's son:)
Sweet Shiloh, you keep right on doing what you're doing...just being there for yer brudder.:) What a wonderful sister you are, Shiloh.
Love to Sue, Killian and Shiloh...Your bestest pals, Sandra, Cody and Star***Shine...(P.S. Star's sending her extra special prayers and love to the love of her life, her pal, Killian)
Another day........
Killian, we are still hoping for great things, buddy. You hang in there, take your medicine and know that you have lots of fans out here (your mom does too). We want to know that you are better.
Much love
Logan, Helen, Lilly, Honey and Murphy
I've been avoiding this thread all day and finally got the courage to check it out and there's encouraging news!!! Fight Killian, fight boy!
Sue I'm so glad you're feeling a bit better, too. Nothing like talking to someone you trust fully to help get your emotions in check. :) I'm still praying for that special boy, though! Tears right now. Tears of relief.
Killi still doesn't feel good. He's just laying around and looking at us with those big eyes. He ate a little food laced with salmon. He took his new drug Lactulose for the ammonia buildup causing his hepatic encephalopathy (staring off in space, bumping into objects, being "out of it", pacing). It is a liquid and he actually took it. However, I found his SAMe pills on the floor in two different locations after I would have sworn that he swallowed them stuffed in salami. The Amoxicillin went down ok (I think). Well, I haven't found it yet.LOL
Tomorrow we add all the other meds he's on. No wonder he's not hungry, he takes so many meds he loses his appetite!
Killi said to tell Sweet Star***Shine that he's thinking about her;)!
Hi Sweet Sue...Coward me waited til the end of the day to log on PT as I was so nervous, yet prayful. I'm glad you stayed up to post. Been thinking of you and Killi all day today, You both are always on my mind. Poor sweet boy, I feel so bad for him. Those big brown staring eyes can be torture, I know. If only they could talk. I'm so glad he's giving you his loving, thankful kisses, what a dear. And I know Shiloh is such a big help trying to help and cosole her brother. She's such a love....Just want you to know I'm thinking of all of you all the time with deep love and prayers....
Hey Sue ~
Give Killi Man a Big {{{HUGG}}} :) :D,
then Check your PM Box for a note from us. ;)
I'm so glad Dr. Ball was able to put you more at ease. We all know Killian is a fighter, and we're praying hard that he fights this episode too.
Shiloh--you are being such a good nurse to your brother--what would he do without you???
Prayers and hugs for Killian!
Thanks for your prayers again. They are working.
Killian seems to be getting a little better. He had a good night, sharing the couch with me in the family room. He only wanted to go out once. His legs are still weak, but he ate a little more food this morning. His eyes are not as droopy as they have been. He seems more "with us". He loves the Lactulose (a heavy syrup that I suppose tastes very sweet, it helps the "demons" in his mind (encephalopathy). Hehehehe I fooled him this morning. He hasn't had braunschweiger for a long time.....I put his pills in it and kept feeding it to him. He ate it!! I don't know if that will work the next time, though.
I am so happy. This is just the best news! Killian we loves ya honey and will keep praying real hard. I wish I could plant this on your sweet little head!

(Fingers crossed that he doesn't "catch on" about the braunsweiger!) ;)
Oh Sue, I'm sorry to hear about Killian's setback. I hope that's all it is and he will be with you for a long while yet.
I'm glad to hear that he's doing a little better this morning, that surely gives you hope to see him looking & feeling a little more himself.
Give him lots of hugs & kisses from me & I will be praying for you both.
Your friend
Anna

Prayers on the way for Killian!! Please keep being a good boy and taking those pills!
Sending more good wishes to Killian this morning for continued improvement! No news from Sue overnight, so I'm taking that as a good sign! ;) {{{hugs}} to Killi and Sue!
Killi update:
Yesterday, Killian had a bit more energy. He went in the yard and walked around slowly. He ate a little more for me than the day before! Last night he slept all night and I shared the familyroom couch with Shiloh! And ....hehehe.....he still falls for the old pills in braunschweiger trick. Right now he is waiting for breakfast because he started his pill regimen for the day with SAMe (denosyl) and has to wait an hour before he can have more pills and breakfast. His eyes are droopy and mucusy but maybe the lactulose and prednisone will help later, when he can take those, I hope.
Thanks for the prayers and concern.
Hugs to all.
I cautiously think that Killian will recover from this major episode (slowly). This past episode was worse than all the rest (except for the Metronidazole incident). It has all the signs of worsening liver disease. He has never suffered Hepatic Encephalopathy before and I thought he never would. One more symptom that he can suffer would be seizures (not necessarily going to happen). However, I have warned the kids that it can happen, to be prepared. I was truly shocked at this severe episode. He was doing better than ever these last few months. I have no clue what could have contributed to this. Ahhhhhhhh, unless the rabies shot last week??? "Other vet" said no. I wonder what Dr. Ball says. Hmmmmm, I wonder..........
End note. Hug and love your furbabies every single chance that you get ( I never pass them without a pat on their heads or an eye contact and wave). You never know when that will be the last chance you get. I am trying to cope with the worsening of Killian's liver disease. I thought we could win the battle forever (not realistic, am I). But ,as everyone tells me, back in "96 when he was pulled off death row at 69 lbs. with autoimmune disease (that's probably when that showed up, but was underlying ) and a big rashy mess, he would have been pts. What a shame that would have been. The world is a better place with Killian in it.
Wow! Where did this come from? Sorry. OK, I'm glad I got that off my chest. He is getting better and should be with us a while longer.
Love and hugs to all.
Sue
Glad to hear he's pulling thru Sue. *hugs*
We luv ya Killi!
