From me, too! And I hope you are feeling better too, meowmie!

Thank you all for the prayers. We still need them. I apologize fo the late post. I thought I had posted here.
The surgery has been postponed for several reasons: Sam is still dehydrated by 6%, he is slightly anemic, and his white cell count his a little high. The doc is afraid he won't do well under anesthesia because of the dehydration and anemia, but she left it up to me. So I have to give him fluids every day now and have him checked next week. He got a shot of XNL (?) and some more appetite stimulant. That works quick because he ate right away when he got home. She wasn't keen about me injecting him with an antibiotic, but said if the antibiotic worked the first two days, she would give me some to inject in his fluids.
She thinks there is something else going on. I mentioned the swelling on the right side. She said his teeth didn't look that bad. I'm wondering if a fragment was left in by the previous dentist.
So this is a wait and see.
Now off to the human doc for my sinuses.
Oh gosh. I hope you both feel better very soon!
Me, too.
I got chewed out by someone in another group for not taking him to a feline dentist. Not just a cat specialist, but a dentist.
The doc, a cat specialist, says his gums are barely irritated and the swelling has gone down on the right side. The eyes are still dilated unevenly.
Some of this is psychosomatic, but not all of it. He does not feel well, and it may have been going on longer than I thought. I've been so sick, it is possible I missed subtle signs.
Any help or thoughts are appreciated.
Does this specialist not have any ideas?
Perhaps as the swellings go down the eyes may improve?
Sorry I'm not much help.
I'm still just sending good thoughts for both of you.
No problem.
The specialist thinks there is something else going on, but since Sam can't tell us what we need to know it's hard to say. A few weeks back Sam was trying to go outside and he has occasionally made efforts to do just that. At first I just thought he was mad at me, but I wonder if he's trying to go off somewhere.
He's never been a cuddly cat, or I would just hold him.
Well, I talked to the doc today (Friday). She said his gums do not look swollen or red, so there is little chance that this is dental. Oddly enough, tonight I just noticed that his right ear looked a little red. The exterior portion of the ear canal is swollen. I'm not sure if this is the ear infection or a tumor expanding. Sam seems to be showing a new symptom the day after I take him to the vet.
It may also be that he is scratching the ear. Of course, when we were at the vets, the swelling behind the ear and cheek had subsided.
SIGH
Today is not a good day.
If the swelling is subsiding, could it be that the antibiotics are having some effect?
Sam is now partially blind. His left eye is totally dilated and is larger than the right eye. I do not think he can see out of the left eye at all.
Fluids do no good, since he seems to pee the fluids out without retaining any.
I'm just waiting and watching. He still grooms himself and nibbles some. He is resigned to my ministrations, but refuses oral meds.
We are continuing our prayers and warm wishes and love for Sam and you, Anne.

Gosh, Anne! Have you been to the cats-only vet, or a specialist, or is there a vet school near you?
At least Sam is doing fine regarding fluids.
