Green Eggs and Ham Thursday #373

I had a green egg one time,
In egg salad it was divine.
My friend Scott's mom has several chickens;
Salad with fresh eggs - finger lickin'!

[Seriously! My college roommate's mother-in-law is a 4-H volunteer up in central Michigan. Besides the chickens, she's got this amazing huge garden, so my roommate and her husband always have home-grown vegetables because they can and preserve what they don't use. She also sews and knits - she taught me to do a hem properly, for which I'm extremely grateful. Whites from her fresh eggs are just slightly greenish in color. After those, grocery store eggs aren't the same! I like Scott's mom's eggs hard-boiled (in distilled water, please) with just a little pepper, nothing else. They're sooooooo yummy!]

Could I have green tea, please, barkeep?

On Sunday night it's back to old ways
Right now I'm getting aroung the maze
Step over this and around that can drive you "craze"

Last night I fell and heard a loud crack
Right wrist on cement gives great pain attack
Will sit for hours in emerge on a sack (????:confused:)
Waiting for hunky doctor to usher me back

I hope it's not broken and needing a cast
"Cause then how can I possibly have a blast
On my vacation time 2 weeks from now
Boy I'll sure feel like a cow

So do I want green eggs and ham??

As long as it's Canadian ham

OOOWWWW! Poor you, slick! I hope you are fixed up and on good pain meds in no time.

Two weeks - well, that's a fair bit of time for some healing to happen.

Where are you headed on your hawliday?

Barkeep - I'm sick of ham too...but some eggs would be great. Three-egg low fat green omelette please! :D

There was a comic strip in today's Post where a not-so-bright pig had a TX Aggie poster on this wall but it was green. His friend Rat told him green wasn't even the Aggies color so Pig asked if he could replace it with a Mia Hamm soccer poster and Pig said "NO, I'M TIRED OF GREEN AGS AND HAMM!!!" I groaned and, of course... immediately thought of Thursdays bar and wanted some Baileys and coffee!!! :D:rolleyes:

Has anyone heard how Slick came out at the er? Hope nothing was broken. :love:

We had one of my mac and cheese concoctions with blue/cheddar/parmesan, ground beef and broccoli - there is some left, takers? It was nice with a Tempranillo wine. Barkeep, take a break, I'll serve!:)

Ummm, these never have recipes...
Elbow mac, basic cheddar sauce, what was left of the crumbled blue cheese, some parm (enough to taste, not enough to dry it out), crumbled leftover burgers grilled the night before, a cereal bowl full of blanched fresh broccoli, ground pepper, garlic, I think that's all I put in it... Wish I could be more specific, but that's the way I throw things together sometimes.

Barkeep, a round for the bar, a vodka & diet for me please!

First of all, my best advice is to start with "Joy of Cooking" - it's been my cooking bible FOREVER. It gives good ratios and great basic sauces. You start there and just create! Good luck!!

lol, I harbor ill will towards M&C and SPAM.

We had a cupboard FILLED with it when we were growing up.....

Every once in a while I make a package and put some SPAM into it to remind me of the 'good' old days, but have and aversion to it normally.

LOL was watching Dinner Impossible the other night (it was late) and the guy was trying to make something out of Ramen Noodles (I think he had to feed hundreds of University students). Not sure what he made but another dish he prepared had SPAM in it. I had to laugh and think of you Richard. I'm sure you have a million and one ways to prepare them.

There is actually a cookbook by the name of: 101 Things To Do With Ramen Noodles. I understand it's pretty popular with college students. I was thinking of getting it and a case of ramen noodles as a gag gift for my granddaughter's graduation next month, since she will be off to college in the Fall. ;):D

I must be really old, then, because when I was in college, the staple carbohydrate was Kraft macaroni and cheese ... which I still love 25 years later :)

Right there with ya on that one! Always a blue box or two in our house! Must be Kraft, though. I doctor it up a LOT, though, not like the old days when we prepared it as printed. Slick, you should try THAT with blue cheese and parm - it's easy enough!
