Prince Max-July 2, 1992-January 15, 2010

Slick, Thanks for telling us about his passing and for posting these heartwarming pictures of him under the tree and with you holding him in your arms.:) I know that this must've been very difficult for you. You can tell that you both had a very strong bond and don't be surprised if you see him some time in your condo. I know that your home feels very empty now but eventually when you're ready I know that you'll find a very special kitty to share your life with again. You just need to grieve now but please take care of yourself.:love: (((HUGS))):love:

He was so beautiful! I can see why he was so special to you. The special ones are still with us in our hearts and what really matters never really ends. My thoughts and prayers are still with you and Max. :love:

Thank you for posting all these pictures. I am proud to know that Max has been in my arms too- and I still think I can feel him.
I know the story very well and I am happy that he had the chance to pass in a dignified way and could say goodbye to some of his friends.
It will be a tough weekend for you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Knowing I am facing this same issue, I have tried to avoid this forum... but I felt so strongly about letting you know that I was thinking of you that I had to let you know.

Our heart kitties sure do know how to grab hold of our heartstrings, don't they?

Sweet Slick, no one will ever convince me that Max wasn't winking at you. It was his way of saying "It's ok, Mom; you're doing the right thing". Such a beautiful, soft, sweet boy who was so fortunate to have such a loving, compassionate, dear Mom. Right now your pain is almost palpable but Max feels no pain, no anguish, no sorrow, nothing but peace. My Puddy, Pidgie and Peeka were all there to greet him as were all the other RB kitties. What a welcoming kitty committee! We've all been blessed by knowing Max and you, Slick. One day without even realizing it your mourning will find itself without you and it will become a bright morning sunkissed w/loving memories of dear Max. It will happen. Keep the faythe. :love:

Thank you for posting the pictures. Max is so sweet there helping decorate the Christmas tree, I love the first one, and also the last in your mother's arms. He does look like he is winking.

Max went in style and he got to say goodbye to his friends. :) I'm glad that Dr. Singh could come to your home, that must have made a huge difference for both Max and you.

Slick, you have done everything right, and I am sure Max loves you for that. He is now resting at the RB and will soon be romping around with the other kitties. Pjevs will be there to show him around.

I know there is nothing I can say to make your grief any easier to deal with. I've been there myself 6 times since 2003. Every time it hurts and hurts bad. Just know that you are not alone, your loss is real, and you loved Max wholly and completely, just what he needed. You did your best for him and he loved you for it.

Your photos are lovely, his last day he looks like he knew he was loved more than anything. Such a sweetheart he was.

Ah, thank you for posting Sir Max's pictures. I'm sure he was winking at you in the last picture. He left surrounded by love!!! He's probably swaggering all over the RB telling how wonderful his life was with you. He will surely have a paw in picking out any future kitties you share your life with when the time comes. :love::love:

Theres a paragraph written by the late Cleveland Amory after his Beloved Polar Bear passed on.
I can only describe it as living in a void. I did not want to ne anywhere else, but neither did I want to be there.
It was not just that Polar Bear was not there - it was the awful over whelming weight of knowing that he was never going to be there again.:(
I have a feeling that may be why I have so many Found Cats is that I dont have the courage to enter an empty home.
We are sending our prayers to you Slick, that one day Max and Spreckles will send a Cat who needs love and a Furrever Home to you, when the time is right.:love:

Oh Slick, take time and grieve for your beautiful boy. You did everything right for him. These cuddly picture on his last day are just adorable. :love:

I followed his journey without commenting, because I didn't know what to say. I knew he was in the best hands possible. All I could do was silently send prayers.

My dear heart sister. I wanted to post earlier but couldn't. I started to call you but then we would both start bawling. I would be there to hold you if I could, but I can in my heart and you know that I do. Our vet has come to our home, sadly, several times now and I think that is a precious thing... for you, me, mine and your dear Max. I will call you... but I will just give you some quiet time with your thoughts first. :love:

There is an extra special bond between a :love:'heart cat' :love:and their human.

It transcends space and time. You are bonded together eternally.

Max is with you, but on a different plane now, but that's not forever. That's just because his body gave out.
There will be a time, for that Grand Reunion. One Fine Day.

I am Truly sorry Slick he was Beautiful.He is now your Guardian Angel who will be watching out for you until it is your time to reunite with him.

I'm still at work and realize that there is no need to rush home - no one to feed. :( I'll have to put a stop to that soon.

When I got up this morning there were no food/water dishes to wash, no litterbox to clean, no "butt" to clean and no face to clean. Makes me very sad, but I remain hopeful that one day I will find a special senior kitty that needs my love. :)

I told my neighbour that my next kitty will be a senior and she said "would you go through all that again?" Didn't take the blink of an eye to reply "YES!"

A page or two back someone posted a link to order Vitamin B shots online. I did that and they arrived today. :(:(

Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures. I feel blessed to have met him. I think it's amazing that you will open your heart again, when you are ready :)

I know all too well the feeling of the empty house. The habits that develop with senior kitties, and prescriptions from the pharmacy still coming in. The silence of my house after Binx left me was so impossible to handle that I stayed with my mother for a week. I can still remember the little oily stain on my counter top from Tex's medication.

Frankly, I am not sure hearts ever heal from these types of losses. I know the pain diminishes somewhat (though at this very moment, it is hard to believe my own words) with time.

Like Gary said, sometimes I wonder if my cat herd is so that I can never feel the total silence that a passing brings. But, even with so many, I feel the loss deeply, I might just be fooling myself.

Be kind to yourself, in any way possible. The world needs you and your heart. There is much work still to be done.

Slick, I just saw this and want you to knwo that I am thinking about you and hope you realize that what you did was in his best interest.

You gave each other the best possible love and companionship.

I just came back from the wedding and this was the first thread I looked for. :( Major LES and my heart breaks for you, my friend. Your Max was my Nakita and I do know the struggles that you will now face. It's never easy playing God. :( BUT, to give relief from suffering is the best one can do - even though it means that our pain will begin.

As Jo said, words are meaningless but the support is great for you as you deal with his passing. Remember, even though the body is gone, the spirit remains. Nakita has made an appearance many times and she still remains with us.

Be gentle with yourself, take whatever time you need to grieve.

I'm so sorry to hear about Prince Max. I just read your post about him passing and how it went. I'm at work and I have tears in my eyes. Just reminds me of my Anika passing and it's so hard to deal with and it's been 1 year and 2 months now. It does get easier but you still miss them. I'm glad Max was able to go at home. My prays are with you during this hard time. If I can be of any help or anything just let me know.

I was a long time volunteer for my local Humane Society and through that volunteer work I met a lovely lady named Dolores - we called her the kitten lady. She was the one who would always take in the kittens, rear them and let them go to furever homes. She lived so close to me that I could almost spit on to her balconey. Just before Christmas I heard that she passed away from bone cancer :( and her five cats are looking for their second furever homes. There is one cat by the name of "Max" and he is a MH red orangie boy - extremely friendly I'm told. Hmmmm, could this be a sign??

I would think dear friend, that Prince Max would not want you to wait one more day to give the same solid loving home to another kitty. Absolutely nothing - nothing - can ever replace Prince Max - but there are so many wonderful kitties still with us that need loving care and a good home.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could find homes for every single one of them. What a great world that would be - all of that love going around!

Slick I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of your amazing boy, and so sorry that I didn't see this thread until just now. He was stunning and his eyes were just oozing with love. He was a loved boy, and I can tell a very loving boy. I hope your broken heart is beginning to mend. Losing a heart animal is almost more then our hearts can take sometimes, but we make it through and learn to love again, but we never forget.

I'm so sorry to hear that this wonderful lady has now passed on:( but I do see this as a sign from Max.:) Like Candace said, maybe you could adopt 2 of these kitties. Good luck.:)

My Mac has told me, in his own kitty way, that he wants me to find another rescue kitty like himself when he passes. There are so many, cold, scared, ones out there that need a loving home. Do it in Max's name. He will be smiling down on you, I'm sure.:love:
