It's September already? How the heck did that happen?
Actually, we're now sliding into my favorite time of year. The mornings will be cool and crisp, and the afternoons will be warm and sunny:D.
Joxer loves this weather. We leave a bedroom window open so that he can sleep right underneath it and be bathed in the cool air.
Is this still self-serve today? I want something that comes out of a blender.
Blender or seement mixer?
:p
LH, has Orc been running the seement mixer in my absence? I have to go over and see what shape it's in! If it's doing alright, I'll have a BIG slushie!
Orc?
Him and the seement mixer have been doing just fine, he and Lady have been keeping it clean.
One Thursday's special seement mixer slushie comin atcha!
I think standard, peach and strawberry slushies would be good...
David, You owe LH's an extra shift at the shifter!
Skushies for everyone!
DONE.
Hi Catland!
Our summer has ended. It's going to be rainy, rainy, rainy, all throughout the long weekend here. It's dull, dreary and just not fair. Yesterday was hot and sunny and now this. Oh well, I shouldn't complain. Pretty soon some of us will be shovelling snow.:(
That being said, bring 'em on Richard. All the booze I can handle please.
**waves** Hi Catland! How's your pants??? :p You know you'll never live that one down!!!:D
Hi Slick.
It's getting cooler down here too!
Thank god we didn't get the winds during the fires.
Here ya go...More Cosmopolitans and Can I Have Your Sort Code?
DONE!
Summer's over here too. It got down in the 40s the other night and with all this rain, I got downright cold. The colder I get the more I hurt so I wimped out and turned the furnace on to take the chill out of the house a few times. :(
The resident mouse has already moved back into the ceiling. I'm thinking we are in for an early and hard winter. :(:(
I'd love some hot soup for lunch today!!! :D Maybe some chili?
How's about a cup of both?
I made the best soup the other day.
I started with water for ramen noodles and added chopped chikin, celery, onion, cilantro, basil and let that ride until it boiled, I tossed in the noodles and boy was it ever good.
Next time I am going to get some Bok Choy and add an egg to it.
(It was about 90 degrees outside, so eating soup is good for all seasons!)

It was sunny and 80F in Chicago today with more of the same forecast for tomorrow! I guess summer isn't over after all. I'm making iced tea.
One cosmo please!!!
Richard, I have a new toilet. Wanna come and install it for me??? :D
O-O-O-O biscuits and gravy!!! Yummy!! You just can't find b & g up in these parts........ Make mine a double and have you got any maters left???
I smell breakfast! What are you all doing up so early on a Sunday morning?
Hey, I finally have air conditioning for my office. It's just a portable unit, but ANYTHING is better than the near death experience I have had with the heat here. I got one for the bar too.
Maybe we should clean this place up? Oh, tomorrow is LABOR DAY - let's let it go until tomorrow.
I'm taking a break in the party prep to check on y'all! Can I have a cosmo before everyone gets here - start the party spirit, you know! The three hour countdown has begun - hmmm what did I forget?
Of course.
I love my maters done on the BBQ-add onion, zucchini, maters, basil and dill......
DONE!
Hey Miss G..
Glad you got some cooling for your office. I can imagine the traffic on the way in to work, then to have to sit in the heat?;)
A Cosmo, to cool you down!

So my toilet is the wrong colour. Had to take it back and argue with the guy that I need it in Bisque, not Bone. Problem is nowadays you can only get White or Bone. They've done away with all the colours. My bathroom is so small that I hit my boobs on the door turning around.... that being said, the toilet does need to match the bathtub. The saga continues.
So bartender, make it another double for me please. Oh dear there I go again. My Dad (RIP) used to say "never as for another drink - always as for a drink" Sorry Dad.
Hey PM...how was the party????
The party went really well, we had great weather, wonderful food (my husband always does marinated roast beef on the grill for this party, among other things, and people bring dishes, lots of good cooks in this crowd), a rousing game of croquet, a good jam session with all the musicians...just a really good night!
Now, barkeep, a coffee and bailey's with some of the left over desserts from last night sounds like a wonderful breakfast! ;)
Then it's on to the PT party next weekend! :D
Coffee, Bailey's and some dessert?
DONE!
Slick, how are your flanges this morning?
I can't remember the last time I popped in for a Thursdays. Never mind that it is now Monday. I am not laboring on this Labor Day but rather goofing off. Seems wrong doesn't it? :p Richard pour me a White Russian. I have no idea what that is as I have always had Black Russians and do love them. :p I am feeling a little sad about the Phillies lately, but hope springs eternal.... ;)
Okay.....
Zucchini bread is in the oven, the gutter is done, downspout installed, deck re-decked, entryway painted,
Barkeep, GIMME A DRINK!!!!!!!
WTH?
Today is a day OFF!:eek::confused::)
A double slushie.

DONE!
It taco soup like tortilla soup?
And how much "help" did LH get from the "assistants," or did mom keep Lady and the kids out of the way? ;)
Cooler weather is definitely here, and I am loving it, now if the pollen would go away, that'd be even better.
It's always ironic when I log onto weather.com and there's a "High Pollen Warning in Your Area!" - like I didn't know that as soon as I woke up in the morning?
I know, though, that I am more fortunate than the Californians whose city is on fire, and many others, so I try not to grumble too hard!
Just for you MOFF! :)

Ingredients
6 (6-inch) corn tortillas, preferably a little old and dried out
1/4 cup grapeseed oil, peanut oil, other high smoke-point oil
1 small onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 medium Anaheim, poblano or jalapeņo chile, seeded, veins removed, chopped (Depending on the hotness and flavor desired. You can also mix chiles - 1 Anaheim and a half jalapeņo.)
4 cups chicken broth or homemade chicken stock
1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained (recommended Muir Glen fire-roasted)
1/2 teaspoon coarse salt (kosher or sea salt)
1 1/2 cups shredded cooked chicken
1 ripe medium avocado
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese (2 oz) (or other mild, melting cheese)
Chopped fresh cilantro
1 lime, cut into wedges
Method
1 If you are starting with somewhat old, dried out tortillas, great. If not and you are starting with relatively fresh tortillas, put them on a baking sheet and put them in the oven at 200°F for 10-15 minutes to dry them out a bit. It is best to start with tortillas that don't have a lot of moisture in them. Cut tortillas in half; cut halves into 1/4-inch strips. In 3-quart saucepan, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry strips in oil, 1/3 at a time, until light brown and crisp. Remove from pan; drain on paper towels. Reserve.
2 Heat oil remaining in saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook onion in oil 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add garlic and chile; cook 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently, until vegetables are crisp-tender. Stir in broth, tomatoes and salt. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes. Add chicken; heat until hot.
3 To serve, peel and pit the avocado. Cut into 1-inch slices. Divide half of tortilla strips among 4 individual serving bowls; ladle in soup. Top with avocado and cheese; garnish with remaining tortilla strips and cilantro. Serve with lime wedges.
Serves 4.

Sadly, I have no more flanges. I had to take them back. Will try again this weekend.
So Richard, on spanish coffee for the road please. Like everyone else, it's going to take me alot longer to get to work - unlike Mz Gini, that is. :D
Clean up at the bar...
One Spanish coffee for the road!
DONE!
PM,
Sounds good!
DONE!
MOFF,
What? NO directions?;)
Karen,
The weather out here is getting cooler and we have a nice breeze!
I can tell the weather is changing because the cat is sleeping closer and closer!:D
C&S,
An idle mind is the devil's workshop. May as well make zucchini bread?:D
MOFF, that sounds wonderful. I'll have to try that when I get off this diet of mine. I'm up 3 pounds....darn scales. They lie don't they??
So it's wet and cold here today - just like a fall day. I feel like something warm and comforting. Ah, that's it - Southern Comfort. Richard, I'll take one of them and maybe some of MOFF's soup to warm my old bones.
