I agree it sure doesn't look like any tick I've ever seen but then again what do I know?!
good luck and I hope she feels better asap!
I've seen (and  removed) a few more than one tick, and I don't think I've
ever seen a tick, or a tick bite wound, that looked like that.
It might be best to not *fuss* with it till the WhiteCoat takes a look.
Whatever it is,you don't want to risk pushing it any deeper into her skin.
Give her a {{{Hug}}} whilst we're sending Prayers.
Yeah I wasn't going to mess with it anymore...I told my mom not to pick the scab but she did it anyway.
The two people who said it looked like a tick had seen them...one was from California and had seen ticks on her mom's dogs and the other had been to vet tech school. I really didn't think it looked like one but like I said, I have no idea what it is...it looks and feels more like a blood blister than anything. *shrugs*
I have no idea what it could be. I just hope it's nothing serious. please keep us updated and give Keva a hug for me. :) I hope she's back to normal soon. :( That could explain why she isn't eating much. Let us know how the vet goes as I am sure you will. :)
Doesn't look like a tic to me either. I had to take one off Jack last year, really freaked me out. It had latched on behind his ear. I'm really careful about applying their tick & flea meds on time since then. (Unfortunately RI is infested with Lyme-bearing ticks)
Kissies & hugs to Keva, I hope she's okay. Paws crossed she'll be fine.
Could it be some type of skin tag?
Hope she's okay! Ivy also gave me a scare with her cyst! I hope Keva has nothing more than regular adolescent skin problems :)
Doesn't look like a tick to me. There can be so many things it is that are easy to fix up Amy, try not to worry too much. Tomorrow you'll know for sure, waiting is hard, I know.:(
My cockapoos have always been prone to warty growths and they each have their own little ugly structures, not exactly like the other ones. This could be one of those, but of course only a vet would know for sure. Frankly I'm more concerned about the *not eating* aspect. I hope you are able to get some answers at her appointment with the vet. Worry can wear on a fur mom.
they might have said tick because of the color... and looking real fast it could be mistaken by one.. (size/color wise)...
but thatīs NOT a tick.... really hoping it was...:(
good luck at the vets and crossing paws is nothing too serious... get well Keva... and EAT!!!
Hey Amy,
Hope the visit to the vet goes well today.
Thinking of you
Michelle
I hope everything goes well at the vet today.
From the pictures it doesn't look like a tick to me, it looks more like a cyst. Any ticks I've seen on dogs at work you can see the legs and I don't see any in your pictures. I hope it's just a harmless cyst and not anything to worry about.
Keep us posted.
any news?
Well the growth is some sort cyst...I can't remember what he called it...he said it wasn't anything to worry about. He said it didn't need to be removed, its kind of bad where it is though because when I put a harness on her it rubs on it and makes it bleed.
He was concerned about the not wanting to eat. Once again the exam couldn't find anything wrong, no temp, etc. So we did a full blood panel, I'll get the results either tomorrow evening or Wednesday morning. So wish us luck that we'll get good blood test results.
I'm glad that the growth is just a cyst. Too bad it couldn't be removed if it's going to bleed from her harness all of the time.:( I hope that her blood work comes back fine and that she starts eating well again. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent her way.
Glad to hear that the cyst is nothing to worry about. Maybe Keva is worried that you are spending too much money on dog food with three dogs to feed now. It's okay Keva, Mom will always find a way to take care of you and your fursibs. Just get well, sweetie.
Good to hear it's just a cyst. Hopefully there's nothing wrong with Keva. It's the strangest thing, my girls were very picky about eating, but once I got Jake, they haven't missed a meal. Could it still be new puppy related? It doesn't have to mean Keva isn't happy with Skya, but still maybe a bit stressed. Just wondering if it's a possibility.
I am glad to hear it's just a cyst and nothing more. I hope the blood work comes back normal. :) The both of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
How's Keva doing? Any new come back from the blood panel yet? I'm glad to hear that her bump is a cyst, but that is a bad location rubbing on her harness.
She's definitely in my thoughts.
No results, I called them wednesday afternoon wondering why I hadn't heard from them yet...they said the results weren't in yet. Then the actual vet calls me back and said they lost the blood sample. I was going to have to bring Keva back in for them to draw blood again. Then they called back again later that evening and said they "think" they found it. I guess it was sent to the Las Vegas lab instead of the California lab...I just hope its actually the right blood sample. She's still not eating that great, she won't touch her breakfast but she eats most of it in the evening.
They "lost" the sample & now "think" they've found it? Good think Keva has plenty of blood left for another sample, lol. You might want to go ahead & have another sample drawn so you are SURE whose blood they're testing. (You're paying for it, may as well make sure they do it right.)
Hugs & skritches to your three.
have they checked her teeth... maybe sheīs got a cavity or a loose tooth... if they canīt see anything else thereīs a chance in there as why she doesnīt wants to eat... just a thought...
and I second what Pat said... what if the blood they "thought" wasnīt Kevaīs and give you "false" results...better be sure...
hugs to Keva and the whole gang
if you do go back for more bloodwork - make sure they DO NOT charge you for THEIR MISTAKE!
Well the blood test results (hoping it was hers for sure, they said it was) came back and they were normal. The vet didn't think there was anything wrong with her. So basically I think I just paid $200 to find out my dog is picky. Nebo did stuff like this all the time when he was younger, Shiloh (my manager's husky) does it too...so I wouldn't have worried if it were one of them but its just not like Keva at all. Especially turning her nose up a treats and even people food (she's not doing that now, but she did before I took her to the vet the first time). Oh well, I'm just glad she's okay. I bought another kind of dog food and she is eating that better, though she's not crazy about food in general like she used to be. I wish she would have decided to be picky before I bought a ton of the other food, but Nebo still likes it so it will last a long time with just him eating it.
Oh and her teeth are fine...I brush them 2-3 times per week, I've checked them and they look normal. She still chews on her nylabones too.
I am glad everything came back normal. :) How is Keva doing?
bump... just wanted to see how she's doing!
She seems to be back to normal I think...well a couple of days ago she went back to not eating anything, she vomited and had diarhea with some blood...which freaked me out. But she was fine by the next day, I think she may have eaten some of Skya's food which made her sick. She's been eating her food since then, and even back to howling for it. I changed her dog food, I think she likes this kind better, at least for now (she used to love the other stuff too).
I'll bet your nerves are frazzled Amy.:( Hopefully Keva is on the road to recovery, from whatever caused this.
More thoughts and prayers coming to you from me, Amy. C'mon Keva, feel better sweetie and don't have anything else go wrong to worry Mom.
I'm glad Keva is feeling better and that it appears to not be serious. :)
