Huge sigh of relief. Kayleigh was the first thing on my mind when I got up this morning just after 4 am. I am glad it went well and pray that her recovery is quick. Kayleigh, sweetie, take it easy, relax and recover well.
Tamara, I just saw this thread. Wow, what an event for Kayleigh. Poor thing. I'm so glad she wasn't worse off and that you found her when you did. You really do have some amazing people working with your dogs. Thank God for those people, they are truly angels.
Oh my goodness, I lot sure has happened since I last checked in. Well, I am glad to hear that things moved so quickly, I am sure it is what saved this pretty girl's life. I am truly keeping my fingers crossed that things calm down for you now, and that Kayleigh has a quick and uneventful recovery. And let me echo Jess' request for pictures.
I am so glad to hear that the surgery is over & Kayleigh is resting up.
Thank heavens you found her when you did & prayers for a steady and
sure recovery. (((Hugs))) to you both.
Even with our best efforts, there is always something, isn't there, Tamara? I am sending my prayers for Kaleigh, and hoping that she will have a smooth recovery.

It's 11:30 AM here, so it's about 8:30 AM Wake-em-Up Tyme in the Yukon ...
So how's Miz Toof-Pick Tummy feeling today?
We'll send some Morning Prayers that she had a quiet night, and is ready to
come back HOME and try out Anvik's Porta-Partment.
Hope you and Stuart were finally able to do some RE-Laxin last night!
Wish him a SAFE summer in The Gold Mine! :)

Geez, what a mess! Good thing you guys found her in time and that the vet was quick ehough to get her in before it was too late. I hope she heals fast, silly girl toothpicks and metal aren't for eating!!!!
Glad to hear the surgery went well and I hope she'll be coming home this evening. (((HUGS))) to you Kayleigh! Get well soon!
ear skritchies for kayleigh! geez!!!
Kayleigh got to come tonight with a bunch of pills and a case of bland food! She looks much improved although she's clearly still hurting and quite stoned. They gave her a shot of morphine this afternoon and her eyes are still glassy! The vet says she is doing better than they expected. She was very happy to get out of that kennel and headed straight for the truck!
I've moved Anvik's crate and Kay has checked it out a few times. I'm going to remove all her bones and chewies from her pen tonight. When she's healed, I'll get her some new treasures. No chewing anything hard allowed for now!
Thank you all very much for your support and prayers. They seemed to have worked. I'm so glad the big Kahoona got to come home!
So glad she's doing well and is home. I'll bet she's happy, as well. I hope she'll recover alright. Get well soon, Kayleigh!

Here's hoping she'll sleep like an angel tonight :) In fact, here's hoping that you all get a good night's sleep!
How scary! Thank God for Dr Candance! I'm so relieved and thrilled that Kay made it through sirjury OK and that she'll be in your loving care. More hugs and prayers to all of you.
WE'RE glad she got to come home, too! ;)Quote:

Wherever she is; let's pray that the Tooth-Pick Fairy doesn't return! :p
Sleep WELL, ebberbuddie!!
:D
She has the giant crate in the shop--door closed so she can't find anything else to chew(not that she's moving much anyway). She can wander around if someone is out there with her. Stuart is leaving the morning so he'll be out there packing until the wee hours.Quote:

See if you can get either a good description of where he'll be;
or a good ADDRESS of the mine - I'll try to find it on Google-Earth.
Wishing Stuart a SAFE & Prosperous summer at the Mine!! ;)
:D
Glad to hear your big girl is home Tamara. More prayers and good vibes going out to her that she heals quickly and smoothly.
SO glad to hear she's home!
Yahoo!!! Welcome home Kayleigh. Be sure to take it easy the next few days sweetie pie. Tell mommie to give you a big hug and kiss from me. So glad you made it thru. :D
Welcome Home Kayleigh!! We hope you get better real soon sweet girl!! :)
Thanks everyone...
She's doing pretty well. She's moving ok and eating well. She's taken to the crate nicely. Kayleigh has never been crated before, but she seems to like relaxing in one!

Not so happy with the collar! She's actually been very good about leaving the stitches alone. When I'm outside with her, she gets the collar off!

As soon as she could, she had to go check out her digging spot. She isn't feeling up to working on her tunnel system, but she had to make sure it was still there and no other dog had tried to dig there!
Ah, sweet Kayleigh, I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Gotta have priorities...good thing no one else dug in your digs! Try to be good and leave that collar on long enough to heal up a bit, and stay away from pokey things! Maybe you need a couple nice squeaky stuffies to chew on? Star chews hers, then gets nice to them & treats them like babies.
Awwwww!!! What a pretty girl you are sweetheart!! Take it easy for a bit. You've been through alot :) We hope you get better and better!! :)
I am so glad to hear Kayleigh is home and recovering.
Just curious....did you have a nice long talk with ALL of the dogs (and cats)and let them know that nobody is allowed to get sick or injured while Stuart is not home? They should really know this so they can be more careful. ;)
I did. Hopefully they were listening! The last time Stuart went away for work wasn't good! Both Kasha and Preacher died while he was away. I can deal with sick and injured on my own, although I'd rather not, but dealing with two deaths on my own was brutal!Quote:

I'm glad she's doing better. She looks like a big fluffy doggie, perfect to snuggle and cuddle with if she lets you.
Thoughts and prayers going out to you and Kayleigh. Hope nothing else happens while you are at home by yourself.
Oh no. I am so sorry. Well, listen up gang, I sure hope you listened to Mom and are extra super careful while Dad is away. We don't need to put her through anything like that again. Ya hear???Quote:

LOL@Phred! What a fabulous idea!
Kayleigh is doing very well today. She actually wants to play tonight. She's supposed to be quiet, but I threw her rope toy a few times for her anyway. It was nice to see her acting like her normal self.
Yaaaaa. Kayleigh is getting better. Wonderful news. Praying that during Stuart's away time things are uneventful for you.
Glad she's home and on her way back to normal!
Wonderful idea!Quote:

She looks like she has such massive feet, and her eyes have a wolfish gaze to them, she's a pretty girl. Do you know if she has mal in her? I'm so glad everyone seems to be on the mend again. Now everyone STAY that way!

She is such a doll. I just now saw those pics. I'm so glad she's feeling better. I hope she continues to improve. Her feet do look huge. She's also a fuzzy thing. I would love to give her a big hug but since I can't, you do it, ok?
I'm just reading about this now, what an ordeal you have been through. Good thoughts heading your way, get well soon Kayleigh!
Kayleigh got her stitches out today. She was such a good girl! A long time away, we taught her "show me your belly" as a command. Came in handy today. Not sure how we would have convinced her to lay down and roll over otherwise. She had 30 or so stitches and 10 staples in her belly. I could have taken the stitches out at home, but I don't have a staple remover. It's free to have the vet techs do it anyway!
In earlier years, Kayleigh would have had to been muzzled to have anything done to her. Today she laid down, showed off her belly and only even looked at the tech once or twice and that was on very tight stitches.
She got a hamburger on the way home for her good behavior!
