:) :) :) I thought the entire incident was handled pretty well by both parties. They were gracious gentlemen :) I guess the young Mr. Busch was real mad at himself though. :( That's hilarious Phred!!Quote:

My 2nd Nextel cup race, and the 2nd in Phoenix!! Somewhat ironic, since MIS is only an hour away, but I am going to California for work the week before the race, and Phoenix was a cheap $75 flight away, so I decided to go see my aunt and uncle and cousins Thursday-Sunday. What better to do Saturday night, then visit the local race track?!?

We got Pre-Race Pit passes, and got to see the cars going through inspection and being pushed out on pit road. I was amazed how close you could get to the tools boxes and the tires and everything. There was plenty of security around, but I was still surprised. I bought a few lug nuts from denny's car (they were selling them for $1 to raise money for Charity).
After they kicked us off pit road, I made my way about around the track, over to the Speed Stage to catch the end of Race Day. I got right up next to the stage, and the camera did fly over a few times, so I may have been on TV there. My dad said he thought he saw me, but wasn't sure. I got some good pictures of Jimmy Spencer and John Roberts...unfortuantely, as I was walking to the stage, Kenny Wallace was headed to the driver's meeting on his cart. I was within about 1 ft of him, but didn't have my camera at the ready. Also missed getting ashot of Jeff Green, but managed to catch Mikey (Walktrip), Sterling Marlin and Paul Menard. No Tony :(
The race was a good one for our group. My uncle is Jeff Gordon fan, and my cousin and her husband, Kevin Harvick fans. Along with Tony and Denny, they all lead laps, and all finsihed in the top 10. Tony may not have been happy, and while I would have him prefferd to finish first, #2 isn't so bad. And Bobby had a Top 10. All in all a good night!
Here are the Pictures!

But HEY ... ;)
That's a *phunnie* shade of ORANGE onna shirt 'n hat!!
And does that schphell "20" ??
It does...The hat, despite being pink, Says "Stewart 20", and the T-shirt is from Eldora Speedway, Tony's race track!
Amy I've been anxiously awaiting your pictures...they were fantastic! You all really had some good seats.
So, how jealous was Ralph when he found out you had pit passes;)
Too bad Tony didn't win, would have been awesome to see him win in person.
Gonna have to listen to his show tonight to find out why he missed the mandatory drivers meeting after the race  Being a little bit of a baby me thinks :o
Thanks for sharing your good time with us!
See you soon!

Amy we missed the show last night  ...did you happen to catch it? What did he have to say?
I only listened to the first hour, then I had to watch House :)Quote:

He was also updet about fans disresepcting Jeff and Jr. by throwing trash out on the track during the voctory lap. I didn't see that, but we were down in Turn 4, and that must have been on the front stretch. He said he was happy for Jeff, happy with the way the car ran and thought it was a good come back after the disaster at Texas. His frustration is with the made up cautions for debris the TV camera can't even find.

Tony is still lookin for the salt shaker to put on his Crow!
Memo to Tony: THINK first, THEN speak!
:D
Okay, Tony may have gone over the top with the comments about racing being fake like wrestling, but his point is still valid, and people on TV and the radio have been talking about the debris cautions all season. Nascar may have reprimanded Tony, but at they same time, I have to think they are listening. If there was no validitity to the claim, and he was just a hothead making excuses, they wouldn't have reacted.
His appraoch may have been wrong, but I don't disagree with the message. I was sitting in the stands in Phoenix and would look at the lap count and think...it has been about 60 laps since the last caution, and green flag stops are going to start happening...sure enough the caution would come out. There was not a full set of green flag stops in the whole race, and only 2 wrecks.....
Did you see Kenny Wallace's qualifying run?!? Go Herminator!!!
 Tony Stewart is right about NASCAR throwing yellows.
Last week, during the race, one of the announcers made a comment like, "If we can find the debris, we'll show it to you."
I thought that was a really odd statement to make, especially on a small track.
I didn't think about it until I read about the fine and I remembered the caution and the comment..

Ironically, I don't notice very many debris cautions called during Busch races....
But what about the finish today!! So great to see Tony and Bobby as teammates again, even in the Busch series. Reminds me of Tony's early JRG days.
I have to say that I agree about the cautions. What I find funny though is that I have felt this way for a long time and even funnier is the fact that last season they always seemed to favor Tony for the most part. I know there were several races last season that we watched and we would say "Oh look, Tony is in trouble or Tony is about to go a lap down. Watch them throw a caution for debris". Sure enough that is exactly what would happen. Am I the only one that thinks this has been going on for a long time and not something that has just started this season?
I guess I'll see you in the NASCAR trailer...... :eek:Quote:

I agree Robin, it was a problem last year too. It seems like this year though, it has been more late race cautions. At the beginning of the season it seemed like every race was green/white checker and there was either a debris caution late, that then caused an accident on a restart, or the debris caution put them into a green/white checker.
Just a note to the fans at 'Dega:
You collectively look like a bunch of idiots when you start throwing things on the track when you don't like who won. Ever think you morons might hit someone? Like another fan in the stands? Or maybe a driver?
Grow up, idiots.

I know, but it seems like an annual event at 'Dega.
Cross that track off the list of tracks I want to go to.

I noticed one almost full can of liquid hit the track.... Then Fox cut away from the coverage. I love the burnouts and the Polish Victory laps....I guess those will soon come to an end eventually...

If NASCAR wanted to send a message to the idiot fans-this will never happen because of the dollars involved, but if enough people were ticked off they would police themselves a little better-close the stands and have a race.
They will never be able to stop it completely, but I suspect that when the masses suffer because of a few, the masses will take a stand.
Agreed!Quote:

I'd be interested to know if they really DID make any arrests.
Hooligans don't belong in the NASCAR crowds!
They had an airtight security system.
With all that debris thrown on the track, they made a total of 10 arrests. They couldn't clearly identify anyone else.

Guess they need to start making the tracks a can free zone: no beer or soda cans or any other allowed. Only pop in paper cups sold at the track.
Can't do a whole lot of damage with a paper cup unless it gets stuck on the front grill of a car or something like that. :(
They do that at the football games in KC. (or they used to)
Rain rain, go away...we want to see some racing under the lights today!!!
Only please don't send the rain to Kansas. It rained here all last week and is supposed rain all this week. sheesh! :DQuote:
