Well, this is not quiet a rescue story, but goes to show some people just don't deserve the companionship or love of pets. I was at the vet's this week, waiting outside the Xray door (for Cody) which was located right outside the vet's offices.I couldn't help but overhear one of the vet's in a controlled (trying) heated discussion with someone about showing up for an appointnment the following day for her dog's ear surgery. Apparently, (and I moved closer and my ears got bigger..nosey) rather than have this much needed surgery, the client opted for MORE anti-biotics, which the vet said wouldn't work anymore. He even offered a payment plan for the surgery. His voice got a bit louder and more insistent and said "You would rather have your dog in constant agony rather than operate to relieve the problem"? After he hung up the phone (turned out the person was a nurse) his assistant told him to take a deep breath and count to 10. He was SO angry. He was muttering and slamming his fists saying that some people just shouldn't have pets!. He was sooo upset. He looked up and saw me and just shook his head. I swear he was going to cry. I happily paid my $200 bill after that!! I feel awful seeing Cody so upset and confused at the vet but would mortgage my house to save him. It was all I could do to keep my mouth shut and yell at the phone. I feel so sad :( for that poor, helpless, pained dog.
My neighbors have a Beagle. The beagle is cooped up in a cage 24/7 no matter what the heat or how cold it is (usually about 90 right now) He is either in the cage or on the Lead. They have a garbage can IN his cage to throw his poo away so that they don't have to walk far to throw it away, his cage stinks so bad. i feel bad for the little guy. Well I actually felt so bad that (I have a dog walking business) I lowered my price from 5 dollars a walk to free! So I was like hi I saw you had a beautiful beagle in a cage behind your house. I also noticed he was cooped up most of the day. I was wondering if you minded if I walked him twice a day, now I usually charge 5 dollars, but I am a sucker for beagles and will walk him for free. She was like NO don’t' you know anything Beagles area lazy breed they don't need exercise. . I just wanted to yell at her HELLO LADY IT’S A BEAGLE THEY HUNT THEY NEED EXERSISE. . Some people. My other neighbors let there "pitbull run around the neighborhood and it attacked a beagle named Whinny (another dog I walk). His injures weren't that bad luckily. We can't walk him for awile though . We still go over to give him treats and stuff.
Beagles lazy?!?! On what planet?
Any update on Cody? Is he with his new owner now?
I am so sorry that I haven't posted on Cody lately. He is with his new foster mom in Atlanta Georgia! He is doing great and I will be making a home visit to some people interested in adopting him! Their references have already checked out and I will probably go visit the family tomorrow or Thursday.
Hope the interview works out! Thanks for the update. :D
Great news on Cody!
Hey, we know you've had your hands full recently Souraya. Thanks so much for the update. Happy to hear Cody is in a new home with a permanent one on the way! :)
Thanks for asking that question, Kimmy. I too was wondering about our little Tucker look-alike. He won a place in my heart if not my home.
Great news! Cody has a new home!!
I wasn't able to do my home visit earlier last eek, but managed to go on Saturday evening. His new family is GREAT! They are the sweetest people and just love Cody.
They have a huge back yard that is fenced in, a pool, and lots of big shady trees. Although Cody will be an indoor dog, he will have lots of room to play outside. The family has adult children who are already out on their own. Mrs. Perry stays home all the time.
Cody spent his his first night there last night. I haven't heard yet from his family, so I am guessing things went well.
Woohooo!!! Yeah Cody! :D I'm so happy to hear this Souraya. :)
Patience is a virtue and you have lots of it Souraya. You did a great thing for Cody and for Roxey. You are a poochie in need's guardian angel.
This gives me goose bumpers. Cody went to his new home three years to the day that Tucker came to his (mine). It's a sign, Souraya, that he is in the right place...his forever home where he will be loved and adored, just like Tucker is.
Oh what a joyous reunion :) . This is such a wonderful sign :) Happy belated anniversery to mr Tucker and a most joyous homecoming to mr. Cody :)Quote:

Rachel, I too got goose bumps when I read that it was the same day Tucker came into your home!
Yeah Cody!!!
And feather covered kids too! I know this one guy who's 3 birds died terrible deaths because of his and his family's irresponsiblity. One got stepped on by a guest who was coming in and didn't know the poor little thing was on the floor! :( Irresponsible owners! The other got thinner and thinner for two weeks until you could see its ribs and bones and then it died! WHAT ARE VETS FOR????? And the other flew away, and I don't know if it died or not, but birds that escape usually die if no one finds them and adopts them. I hope that one got adopted by a good family; maybe it was the lucky one amongst its friends. :( Poor birds. And when they lost all of the poor things, the guy said, I'm happy I lost them because they used to poop too much! WHY DID YOU BUY THEM THEN???? UGGGGHHHH!!! Some people.... Such people DO NOT deserve to have any kind of pet! :mad:Quote:

well, this owner sounds irresponsible, but there ARE bird owners that love their birds, but accidents can still happen.a well loved bird can be stepped on.and i know my birdies could escape if I'm not really careful.so, alothough i agree about this owner, not all owners are irresponsible.i know everyone realizes this, but i just HAD to say it...thats just moi, dawling!lol! :D glad for Cody!
poor birdies, but good for Cody!:D
